Work Text:
speak! said the sphinx,
beast mighty and proud.
speak true and correct,
and to pass you may be allowed.
answer! be sure,
this lord dark in heart,
where does he put his armies,
with no stone for rampart?
so stayed the girl,
though in appearance she was not,
for disguised though she was,
she was bounty for thought.
there! sparked an inkling,
well, could it be true?
tiny child, remember,
children tinier than you?
so she remembered,
childish riddle long past,
sphinx! she cried out,
surely not that!
he puts his armies in his sleevies!
and so she passed through.
