Chapter 1: Rumor Addams

Chapter Text

“Come on Wen’s can’t we at least meet him?” Tyler asks his arms already crossed as he watches his wife unbraid her hair and begin brushing through it.

“No, because then you’ll want to take him home.” She argued beginning to unravel her next braid.

“He’s already 15 Wen’s, if we don’t take him in, he’ll probably never get adopted and end up aging out of the system and left on the streets all alone with absolutely no one to help him understand his powers.” Tyler frowned.

“It’s not my job to babysit.” She simply replied.

“Wen’s I don’t understand how your not on board for this, you’ve wanted a kid for the longest.” He reminds immediately gaining a cold glare from her as she shoots out of her vanity chair and marches towards him.

“Well that didn’t happen now did it?” Her voice cuts to the point Tyler almost flinches, but he understands her pain all too well.

“Wen’s I know things have been rough this year, but this could be something good.” Tyler says taking the brush from her hand and setting it on the nightstand, he grabs her hands and gives her a small smile, one that reminded her of the ones he gave her when they had first met and she knew it was impossible to say no.

She sighs, “Fine, but if he’s a werewolf, your housebreaking him.” Wednesday quips.

Tyler smiles.

The next day Tyler and Wednesday make their way to the police station where they’re immediately greeted with a smiling face.

“Mr. and Mrs. Addams, I'm assuming your here to see the kid?” A woman says approaching them with a smile.

“Ms. Medina, your the one who reached out to my father who then reached out to me correct?” Tyler asks extending his hand for her to shake.

“Correct, everyone knows Sheriff Galpin’s son is now a part of the famous Addams family.” She says her smile not quite meeting her eyes.

“If by famous you mean infamous I gladly accept.” Wednesday smirked.

Ms. Medina looks at Wednesday and only nods putting on another obscure smile. “Well I'm glad you could come by he was actually just about to be released back to foster care today.” She explains. “But I'll take you to him.” She says as she urges them to follow her.

They follow behind her asking questions along the way, “So what did he do to end up here?” Tyler asks.

“He vandalized buildings, started a few disruptions at protests..” She lists.

“How disappointing.” Wednesday frowned unimpressed by the rep sheet she was listing. “I thought he was supposed to be a challenge?” She asks.

Medina raises a brow and Tyler shakes his head, “Isn’t he a outcast? Those crimes seem pretty relaxed all things considered.” Tyler agreed.

“The vandalism maybe, but the protest disruptions was quite frankly like nothing I'd ever seen, you remember that protests down at city hall a few weeks ago?”

“The one where the Mayors assistant got stabbed with a pitchfork, 10 protesters nearly got stomped to death, and 25 people were hospitalized due to laughing gas and mass hysteria?” Wednesday’s tone shifted to one of pure intrigue.

“Yeah that one.” Medina says flatly. “Turns out this kid had something to do with it.”

A small rare smile broke through Wednesday’s face as she turns to Tyler, “Let’s adopt him.” She says briskly.

Tyler nearly laughs, “We haven’t even met him yet Wednesday, we don’t even know what kind of outcast he is.” He reasoned.

“Neither do we to be honest, we’ve been trying to get him to talk but he doesn’t say anything, just about how the Mayor and all of his lackey’s as he calls them, deserved much worse than the riot that broke out.” She says frowning.

“He’s perfect.” Wednesday smile eerily widens.

They arrive at a door and Medina unlocks the door with her key card.

“Rumor you have visitors.” Medina says entering first.

A boy 15 stands up from his cot in handcuffs his eyes glaring holes into Medina as he slowly approaches her. “I’m not going back to no orphanage lady.” He defiantly says.

“Good thing I'm not here for that then, it appears we might’ve found a couple to take you in.” She smiles.

He raises a brow in confusion but notices two people entering behind Medina, one was a tall male with curly short brown hair and warm eyes with a kind smile.

He appeared nervous yet hopeful his overall first impression of the man was that he was overall a nice guy.

At least that’s what he would’ve said if he had been normal.

Because his entire conscious was screaming one thing.

This man was dangerous.

His eyes shifted focus from the tall gentleman to the short woman who immediately reminded him of the mother out of the movie Coraline.

Who was it? Other Mother?

She definitely gave off spooky vibes, he didn’t even need to be a outcast to read that this woman was all kinds of trouble.

Yet for the first time, he couldn’t seem to read her emotions at all.

It was like he was peering into a blank black canvas of nothingness.

Did this woman even have a heart?

His overall first impression of the woman was simply one thing.

Spooky.

“What’s Bonnie and Clyde doing here?” He sneered looking between the two of them.

“They’re here to take you in, and possibly adopt you.” She explains.

“No thanks.” He says going back to sit on his cot.

“It’s either them or the Orphanage.” She explains, “Either way your not staying here, you should be happy.”

“Please don’t tell me how to feel.” He argues biting his tongue, “Then again I guess that would be hard for you considering you do have controlling issues, guess that’s why your fiancé left you.” He smugly retorts.

Medina eyes widen, “How the hell do you know that, I haven’t even told my parents about that!” She hisses.

He says nothing but Wednesday recognizes it almost immediately.

“You’re an empath.” She sudden says.

Everyone including Rumor looks at her in amazement.

“How do you know I'm not a psychic?” He challenges his eyes laser focused on the woman before him.

“You called me and Tyler Bonnie & Clyde with only just have meeting us, now one could say that you already knew who we were right when we stepped foot in your cell but considering you didn’t know or call us out by name would appear you have no prior knowledge of me or my family, especially not me or Tyler’s criminal records. You called us Bonnie and Clyde based solely on our appearances, I mean I guess I could look like a Bonnie type, but that was more of a guess, With Tyler however you called him Clyde, which would’ve been impossible to determine just by looking at him, he resembles every bit of a golden retriever on the outside, but only those who could sense a dark presence in him would ever even remotely consider him to be a dangerous criminal, meaning only one thing, you sensed the darkness in him immediately and wrote me off a his dark accomplice.” Wednesday inferred.

Rumor looks at her in disbelief, then sudden amusement, “And what are you? Some kind of detective?”

“Another lucky guess, but I'm afraid your analysis of me was wrong, I'm not his accomplice I'm the entire mastermind so tell me Rumor how did I do?” She asks.

“Lucky guess, I am a empath.” Rumor repeats. “But that doesn’t mean you know me.”

“Wrong again.” Wednesday shoots back. “I know exactly who you are.”

He sarcastically laughs, “Really? And who is that?”

Wednesday smiles and crosses her arms as she looks at Tyler who only nods in agreement.

“It’s simple, You’re an Addams.”

Notes:
