Work Text:
You can't outrun your fate, Achilles.
War becomes you.
Rage succumbs you.
Lives spill out like lilies.
Because of you, Achilles.
Tool of the Invader.
Imperialist.
Oppressor.
Without your life, they can't claim their "birthright."
And history will never remember your might
If it's not for their conquest that you fight.
How many versions of yourself were lost to memory?
As the price paid for doing the right thing?
The world will only ever see bloodstain as your name.
You can see your past selves' shining legacy,
And rage against yourself to live up to their excellency.
But even at your talents' tip,
Despite your gifts,
You will trip,
And die
At the hands of a God
And a coward,
Every Time.
...
You can't outrun your fate, Achilles.
