Light Up the Sky

Summary:

Other members of Spider Society notice how lovestruck Hobie is, and they find out about his new love: the newest addition to spider society, Tamia, aka Glow Spider

*I don’t own any rights to Hobie Brown, Miles Morales, Margo Kess, Pavitir Phabhakar, LYLA, or Miguel O’Hara*

Notes:

In this timeline, my spider totem’s name is Glow Spider, mainly due to her bioluminescence that’s concentrated (but not limited to) her hair. Other than the classic spidey powers, she has that and another unique power that will be revealed in a later work in this series

Chapter Text

For the next few weeks working at the Spider-Society, Pavitir, Miles, Margo, and even stern ass Miguel O’Hara notice a change in Hobie’s demeanor, like he was on cloud nine . His usual mischievous and sarcastic nature still shines through, but there's an added spark in his eyes, a spring in his step that wasn't there before.

Pavitir, Miles, Margo, and even Miguel O'Hara can't help but remark on the change. They observe Hobie's dreamy smiles and the twinkle in his eyes whenever he mentions Tamia’s name. They exchange knowing glances, teasing him about the love-struck expression he wears constantly.

Pavitir, always the playful one, elbows Hobie with a wink. "Looks like someone's got himself a girlfriend. Care to share any juicy details, amigo?"

Miles chimes in with a grin. "Yeah, Hobie, spill the beans. We want to live vicariously through your love life."

Margo simply smirks, her eyes gleaming mischievously. "I'm sensing some extra pep in your step, Hobie. What's the secret? Someone special in your life?"

Even the usually stoic Miguel O'Hara can't help but raise an eyebrow, a hint of amusement glinting in his eyes. "Well, well, Hobie. It seems love has found its way into your life. I hope they're worthy of your affection."

Hobie, with a grin that stretches from ear to ear, chuckles in response to their teasing. "You guys are relentless, aren't you? But yes, it's true. I've found someone who's turned my world upside down. And let me tell you, they're more than worthy. Hell, they're everything I never knew I needed."

He winks at his fellow Spider-Society members, his voice filled with warmth and giddiness. "But you're gonna have to pry the details out of me one by one. A Spider needs their secrets, after all."

Soon, a spider-woman walks past them. It was Tamia herself. She was in her spider suit, a white spider design on her large chest, a cropped leather jacket with black roses and her unique spider insignia on it. She had on a short black skater skirt, black shades whose lenses match the shape of the spider on her chest, and black lug sole boots. Her spider suit itself wasn’t the classic red and blue, but black with a white web design that glowed in the dark. She was plump, with mocha brown skin and dark eyes. Along with her plump stature, she had the curves to match, with a large chest, thighs, and behind. Hobie’s face lights up when he sees her, and out of amusement and curiosity, Miguel and his AI assistant Lyla pull up Tamia’s introduction video for everyone to see.

*video montage* “Wassup y’all. My name is Tamia Lewis, and I was just a regular-shmegular alt HBCU girlie when……….y’all already know how this story goes by now……mmhmmm, bitten by a radioactive spider, got spider powers, all that good stuff. And so for the past year or so, I’ve been the one and only Glow Spider.”

“I try to make sure I use my abilities for good, but I gotta admit, it is fun as hell messing with people. If I’m not doing college work, or obsessing over the newest body mist, Im bakin’, drawin’ on my tablet, or playing video games”

Hobie's eyes widen with pleasant surprise as he watches the introduction video of Tamia as Glow Spider. He's already aware of her powers and her role within the Spider-Society, but seeing her in action and hearing her vibrant personality shining through brings a grin to his face.

"That's my girl," he exclaims with pride, his voice filled with admiration. He turns to the others, excitement evident in his expression. "Did you guys see that? Tamia's incredible! She's got style, personality, and a wicked sense of humor. I can't believe I get to call her mine."

Miles, always one to marvel at new Spider-People, raises an eyebrow. "Glow Spider, huh? She seems like a force to be reckoned with. And that suit? It's badass."

Pavitir nods in agreement. "Yeah, man. I wouldn't want to mess with her. But she seems cool as hell too, with all those hobbies and interests. She's definitely a great addition to the team."

Margo smirks, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "Looks like our boy Hobie hit the jackpot. Glow Spider is a catch and a half. I hope she's ready for your charming antics, Hobie."

Hobie chuckles, his eyes never leaving the screen. "She can handle me, I'm sure of it. But now that I've seen this side of her, I'm even more excited to see her kick ass and take names with us. We're gonna make an unstoppable team."

As the video comes to an end, the Spider-Society members turn their attention back to the present, anticipation for their next mission brewing within them. But in the back of their minds, they can't help but feel lucky to have Glow Spider, Tamia, among their ranks. And Hobie, most of all, feels a surge of love and pride for the incredible woman who managed to capture his heart.

When they ask Hobie how old Tamia is, seeing as that she looks 17-18, 19 at best, they’re shocked to hear that she’s 21, her 22nd birthday coming up next week. The Spider-Society members exchange surprised glances as Hobie reveals Tamia's age. They had assumed, based on her youthful appearance, that she was younger. Their thoughts race to process this new information.

Miles breaks the silence first, eyebrows raised in astonishment. "Wait, she's 21? Seriously? She looks so young!"

Pavitir nods in agreement. "Yeah, man. I would've never guessed that she's older than me. She's got that whole youthful vibe going on."

Margo smirks, a mischievous spark in her eyes. "Well, it seems Hobie's got himself a cougar then. Age is just a number, right, Hobie?"

Hobie chuckles, shrugging off their surprise. "Yeah, yeah, she's got that Benjamin Button thing going on. But trust me, guys, she's wise beyond her years. Besides, what does age matter when you connect with someone on a deeper level?"

Miguel, who has been listening quietly, finally speaks up. "I concur with Hobie. Age shouldn't define a person. And it certainly seems like Tamia carries herself with maturity and confidence. Let's focus on her abilities and what she brings to the team."

The Spider-Society members nod in agreement, their initial surprise dissipating as they refocus their attention on the upcoming mission. Age becomes a trivial detail compared to the skills, passion, and camaraderie Tamia brings to their dynamic group.
