Work Text:
A brown paper bag sat atop a kitchen counter, its contents including a PB&J (made by yours truly), a salad, dressing for said salad, and a small bottle of juice. It had sat there for the last few hours, forgotten entirely. That is until Meredith made her way downstairs to get her own lunch that day. She had the day off and figured she should just take Addison her lunch, it would be a nice excuse to spend time with her. Not that she needed an excuse to do so.
She quickly changes into jeans and Addison’s worn Yale sweatshirt, her blonde hair tossed up into a messy bun and a pair of Converse slipped on her feet. She heads back to the kitchen to grab the bag of food and makes her way to the front door where she collects her car keys and makes the quick trip to Seattle Grace.
When she arrives at the hospital, she first heads to the redhead’s office. Finding it empty, Meredith goes to the cafeteria. She sees her friends seated at a table joking and messing around. Bailey is eating with Ben and the pair are engaged in a deep conversation, then she spots Callie, Mark and her beautiful, amazing and perfect girlfriend sat together.
She makes a beeline towards Addison, a smile unable to be stopped from growing on her face. The redhead’s back is toward her, her hair cascading over her shoulders. Once she reaches the table, Meredith wraps her arms around Addie.
“Mer! What are you doing here? Don’t you have the day off?” Addison looks up at her, surprise in her tone.
“You forgot your lunch, my love. I figured I’ll just bring it to you and we can have lunch together.” Meredith presses a chaste kiss to her lips before sitting beside her.
“You’re so sweet. I love you.”
“I love you too.” They sit flush against each other, relishing in the closeness of the other. Despite it only being a few hours since they saw each other, they’d missed their other half.
“You guys are sickeningly sweet.” Callie groans at them.
“Well, I don’t mind as long as I can see some girl-on-girl action.” Mark smirks.
“Never gonna happen, Sloan.” Meredith responds, shooting him a glare before turning back to Addison.
They have lunch and enjoy being together, even if it is only for a short while because Addison is paged away for a labouring mother.
