Hot.
You thought you could do it. You and Suguru both thought you could tough it out sleeping in your bedroom. However you were wrong on all accounts. With just a window in your bedroom and a fan there was really no air circulating in the space around you. The air was stale and hot to breath even.
That being said, the ductless air conditioner you had in the living room was going to save all your asses. So you get out of bed and go to your closet. After grabbing a big blanket to lay on you grab some pillows and- you hesitate on grabbing a blanket to put over you and Suguru, but you end up taking it with you anyway.
By the time you got into the living room, Suguru was already there turning on the air conditioner. You couldn’t help but stand there and watch him in the dim light of the room. His back muscles slightly shaded and defined as he moved. Luckily though when he turned around it was too dark for him to notice you were blushing. You’d think that after all these years you wouldn’t blush at your significant other, but here you are, feeling like a school girl all over again because you saw Suguru’s back.
“I know what you’re doing~” he coos to you with a smirk that you just know he’s making.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about~” playing dumb was always your go to and it made him laugh every time, so why not.
“Put the stuff down, you dork.” Surguru chuckles as he walks over to you to grab the pillows so you could lay the blanket down.
After a little bit, the two of you were settled on the floor. Laying on the big blanket and your heads on your pillows. Facing each other, you closed your eyes as the coolness starts to fill the room.
What you didn’t know was that Suguru was staring at you the whole time. He does this quite often. Just getting lost in the way you look and it doesn’t matter what you’re doing. He’ll get lost in you at any given moment.
“Makes me nostalgic..” Suguru muttered as his hand came up to lightly move a strand of your hair that was falling across your face. “Laying like this in the living room…we just need a movie on the tv…some snacks…maybe some alcohol~”
A smile curled on your face. Thinking about the times before. Before you were even dating each other and just hanging out. You and Suguru would always have living room sleep overs. And now here you are, years later doing the same thing but living together.
“Stop it. You’re gonna make me cry if I reminisce too much, you know.” Opening your eyes you saw his already on you. A slight grin on his face.
“All that’s different is-” Suguru was cut off by the sound of footsteps on the ground. Perfect timing actually, with what he was going to say to you. “Oh look, there’s the difference now.” though his tone was more than happy as he saw the two girls walking up to them.
“Are you guys okay?” you asked in a soft tone, sitting up on your elbow and extending your other arm for them to join you two on the floor.
“No. It’s so hot…” Nanako spoke up first.
“We went to your room, but you weren’t there.” Mimiko was next as she rubbed her eyes and yawned.
“Can we sleep out here with you?” this time it came from Nanako as she held her pillow to her chest. Clearly they already had the intentions of sleeping somewhere cooler just like you and Suguru did.
You and Suguru exchange a glance before the both of you smile and nod. “Of course you can loves.” your dark haired counterpart answered the obvious question.
Both girls, though tired, smiled so big while they nestled their way between the both of you on the floor. With Mimiko next to you and Nanako by Suguru, all was content in the Getou household.
It wasn’t long before the twins fell asleep in the cool room. Actually it was cool enough for you to pull the blanket up around all of you. Both girls got even more cuddled and comfortable under the blanket once they felt it on them in their sleep. And all you could do was look over at Suguru.
Love filled your eyes and even though it was darker in the room, Suguru could tell. Eventually, he laid his arm over the girls in order to find your hand. The moment you felt his fingertips on your arm, of course you laid your arm over Mimiko. Soon lacing your fingers with Suguru’s.
“Goodnight my love~” his whisper travels to you.
“Goodnight~” You whispered back, giving his hand a light squeeze and soon relaxing just like the two girls between you.
It wasn’t a lot. But at least you could stay cool in the dead of a hot summer night with the people you loved most.
