The stone probed softly out into the room full of people, unused to being free, kept under lock and key by the man who held it. The man with frustrating shields, restricting it from taking hold of him.
Nearby, it felt a familiar presence, extending curiously towards it. This was a consciousness it had encountered before. It reached out in answer, creeping through the outer shields. Shields that immediately began shutting it out, with the help of another familiar presence. This one it remembers competing with for control over mortals. Withdrawing from the mind, it thought “this will be interesting.”
