Chapter Text
Alone in the Q Bureau, Lee picked up the phone to book a room for the Marvelous Marvin's convention at the Foxrun Motel. As he mentally rehearsed one of the familiar aliases for their married alter egos, he promptly returned the handset to the receiver. Normally, Lee would prioritize a believable scenario and a certain level of efficiency in their accommodations. Anything else - whether he was needling her with "senior agent gets the bed," or tantalized by her proximity - would only be a fringe benefit. "Married" was business first, with pleasure as an added bonus. But lately, things between them had been shifting. Professionally, the husband and wife cover still made sense, yeah. Personally, though, it felt like an excuse to be alone in a hotel room together. It felt dirty, like a cop out. And the personal wasn't just a perk. Not anymore.
Besides, Amanda wouldn't even let him sleep with the light on. Two rooms would be practical. Amanda was a practical woman.
Lee picked up the phone again, and this time, he dialed. "Yes, hello, I'd like to book two rooms for me and my sister."
After all, he only meant for them to sleep separately. With the pressure of shared accommodations off their shoulders, maybe a little privacy and the weekend away would give them the chance the needed to take the next step.
