Chapter Text

Crunch . Goo munched on a chip, impatiently staring at his screen intensely, his expression serious as he looked back at the text on his phone once more, waiting for a response. He had asked Samuel to dig up some information on the game for him.

He rocked back slightly back on forth on the cafe’s wooden chair, which was already in below average condition, it creaked lightly as he continued to move back. Goo’s eyes lit up seeing the message notification finally pop up on the screen

———

[Seo] Hey

[Seo] I think it’s Elysium or something, search the rest up yourself.

[Troublemaker1] Thanks Sammy!

[Seo] Don’t call me that.

[Troublemaker1] My bad, Sammy

[Seo]

———

Elysium, huh , so that was the name. Gun had been up for a while playing it last night to Goo’s surprise, the horridly annoying beeps and pings from the games SFX had kept him awake, he didn’t think the other was even interested in those kinds of things,

Well the more you know , I suppose.

Searching it up, he scrolled across the articles and images about Elysium, it looked fine, kind of tacky, but fine. What the hell got Gun so hooked onto this thing? Goo thought, continuing to scroll through the descriptions of the game.

It was like any other ordinary mmorpg you’d find anywhere, detailed combat, ranks, high priced items that costed at least 6 figures of Won, and in-game marriage..? Well that was new, to Goo atleast.

He glanced over the last few sentences of the article, then promptly locked his phone, sighing. Still not satisfied with the information, there wasn’t much that gave out a clue on why Gun was playing something like this, was it the fighting? The graphics? Nah.. it couldn’t be .

He’s not into that stuff, is he?

It’s not like him and Gun were that close, they were just roommates who bothered each other, thats all. The cold bastard never talked to him that much anyway.

Goo crunched on his last chip, grabbing the empty foil bag, crinkling it as he stood up from his chair, throwing it away quickly into one of the bins as he made his way out of the cafe.

He strolled briskly on his way to the dorm, the street view wasn’t particularly that interesting nor eye-catching, but it was nice to look at the lush greens every once in awhile from the side of the pavement.

Goo made his way towards the dorm door, keys jangling loudly as he unlocks it, he pauses for a second, hearing the sound of light chattering coming from inside, although he couldn’t really make out what was being said.

“That idiot, it’s past curfew and you wanna have people over this late ?”

Goo mumbled, slightly aggrieved. He didn’t want to deal with being sent to one of the counsellors to be reprimanded along with Gun’s slip up.

Quickly stepping in, he rushed to Gun’s door, which had an obnoxiously large yellow (Do Not Enter) sign, his fist banged sharply against the wood, as he waited for a response from the other side.

Hearing the faint sound of rustling, along with a few clicks presumably from a keyboard, Gun unlocked the door, headset still half on, shooting an obviously annoyed glare towards Goo for interrupting him.

His black eyes directly glaring at Goo, making him feel slightly uncomfortable with how tightly he held his stare

“What.” Gun said, his tone still annoyed at the disturbance

Ah… “ Quickly looking over the others shoulder, scanning the contents inside of the room, there didn’t seem to be anyone there, besides Gun. Goo noticed the blue light being emitted from the computer screen

Huh, so he’s on Elysium again?

“Sorry, I thought you had people over, it was a bit noisy.” Goo mumbled, about to apologize further as Gun replied with nothing, and slammed the door on him.

?????

He stared at the door in disbelief before snapping himself out of it, This prick really just shut the door on him …. Wow.

Goo shrugged it off, maybe Gun was just in one of those unpredictable moods or something once again, he returned to his room, lying on the soft white comforter.

——

The next few days went by, there wasn’t much scuffles between the two for awhile, thankfully.

More and more tiny noises could be heard from the other room, probably from gaming again, distracting Goo from his work in the living room, Why were these walls so thin in the first place?

Goo had just knocked on his door, asking him to turn the noise down, Gun just flipped him off and shut the door again.

Goo’s face pulled into a scowl after just being shunned away. Sighing, he silently sat himself on the couch, pulling his phone out his pocket.

Picking at his recent searches, it probably wouldn’t hurt to just research more about the game would it? After all if it caused Gun to be that annoyed at him for interrupting, something must be worth it enough in there.

He eyed the videos of gameplay as he noticed a recommended video pop up, the title in all caps.

“ [LIVESTREAM] ELYSIUM GRIND “

(PJG_04) - 1.2k viewers

Goo clicked on the video, not paying it much mind, the player hosting the stream was quite skilled, pushing through the game monsters with ease in combat. Their avatar looked decent, seemingly dressed from head to toe in dark colors, black specifically.

Wasn’t this setup a little too familiar though? Maybe it was just a coincidence, he wasn’t the best with remembering certain things

The fight, surprisingly, wasn't too boring, except for the fact that the player was way too skilled, clearing out everything in mere minutes, not leaving much content to farm for a supposed farming stream.

Just as Goo was about to click off, a quick donation suddenly came in, that chat was lively, although some members getting kicked from being a bit too rowdy.
___

[zzzqt] donated ₩200,000

Waah.. PJG is way too strong! I could watch this all day ㅎㅎ

[leeinwohh7]

Fuck, really? 200,000? You must be loaded zzz.

[zzzqt]

Hahahah, don’t worry, anything for PJG!

He stared at the screen in momentary shock, seriously? 200 thousand down the drain that quick for this?! People these days were really insane. Just as he was about to finally click off the stream the host suddenly turned on their mic,

Thank you, zzzqt.” The voice said, it was deep, and monotone, he drawled on a bit as if he was tired, and then turned the mic back off, resuming the combat on screen

Goo almost threw his phone across the couch after hearing the voice,

No way, there's no way.

That voice sounded exactly like Gun’s, or maybe the lack of sleep was finally catching up to him, either way after a few seconds of realization it finally settled in that, it was in fact, his roommates voice.

Goo quickly stood up and ran into his room, plopping himself down on the moving chair he had placed next to his desk, a horrible idea starting to grow in his head, he really shouldn’t follow through with this, but who is he if not, Kim Joongoo? Maker of god awful decisions? Idiot of all time?

He unlocked his phone, tapping hurriedly to message Samuel.

[Troublemaker1] Fuck

[Troublemaker1] Do you think this is him?

[Troublemaker1] httpwww.y***.com/***

[Seo] ?

[Seo] Who?

[Troublemaker1] Gun.

[Seo] What

[Seo] How the fuck am I supposed to know??

————-

Goo groaned loudly at the response, not much help from Samuel.

Booting up his PC, it made a few beeps, he leaned back into his chair waiting for it to load in, as he eyed the stream on his phone screen,

The other was thankfully still going, it didn’t seem like he’d be ending it anytime soon now, his viewers growing rapidly, hitting 3.5k now!

An idea started thoroughly forming within his head..

Ok, first off, Goo had been dealing with the annoying bastards grumpy antics all week, This was justified alright?… right?

He could find something that could embarrass Gun on the live broadcast to pay back for his rudeness, but what?

If he made an account just to kill Gun Ingame it wouldn’t do much, besides Goo wasn’t as skilled nor had the gear to beat Gun in game.

Gun would definitely just beat his ass

Gently biting his lip in frustration, staring back at his phone, looking for anything that could be of use

There’s gotta be something.. ” He huffed

Skimming back through the articles, there were many particular scandals he could see of players being exposed as catfishers, the others would usually be extorted of time from carrying the catfishers or even money from in-game gifting..

Goo grinned inwardly, he had just found his solution.
