A melodic sound of the potions plinking against each other from Yca’s thin fingers, and the mezzo hum from her voice. Polarizing to the sound of heavy whirly winds and thunder crashing.
It was around afternoon when Yca was in her office, aiding her patient. She grabbed several of contrasting colored potions and stirred it with a wooden spoon. Right after she proceeded to make an ailment, she gave a mystical medicine to her patient.
“Here, this would do. Make sure you drink only once a week.”
“Thank you Miss Quinabo for making the elixir. I’ll make sure I’ll use it to help my sickness.”
The indigo haired lady chuckled with a humble response, “It’s really no problem, really. Well, have a good day, langga. Feel free to contact me in anytime.”
The patient grabbed the given golden potion from Yca’s hand before he waved with a farewell. “Of course. Well I have to go now. Bye, have a good day!”
She waved back right before he left her room.
When the nameless patient left with a thud sound from the door, Yca sighed. She then furrowed her eyebrows with a frown from her scarlet lips.
“Looks like my hour is over.” She thought.
Moments later, she left her office after her shift had passed. She looked around the Polar Tang, looking for a certain person. Her ivory eyes scanned at her co-workers, but she couldn’t find the man she was looking for. Another sigh flew from her lips. “Seems like he won’t come back today…”
She then proceeded to trot upstairs towards her bedroom. As she creaked her door, the room she had entered was decorated with black and purple stripes, her bed has a shape of a coffin, a small oak table that had a candle-shaped lantern with several casting books, and a delicate decoration of vintage dolls were on her the table; the snuffles; and on her bed.
She flopped herself into her coffin bed, looking down at the wooden floor as her frown continued.
A flash of a lightning was heard outside of her bedroom and Yca turned around to stare at the wall solemnly. “It’s been weeks since he’s off to his mission..” She mused.
Yca began to stroke her fingers against the bedsheets as she gently batted her eyes.
Minutes later felt like days and years for that raven haired man to come back. It was unusual for her to be considered clingy towards him. But she couldn’t help it, her captain was the only thought she’s been thinking about.
The more she reminisces him, the more she misses him. His touch, his kiss, his voice, and any aspects she could imagine.
During the time Yca has been pondering about him, the harden rain dripped fainted as the swirly wind sighed with melancholy at the Polar Tang.
She knew very well that he will eventually come back, but the thought of him not being with the crew — could only weep in silence.
An hour had passed, she could hear the muffled conservations of her peers that is next to her wall. She wasn’t in the mood to talk than she usually would, so she kept herself in her room.
The room felt empty without him and the loneliness only drove her insane. She tried to sleep in multiple attempts, but thinking about her captain had made her second-guess her nap.
Several hours had passed and it’s been worrying Yca that she tried to distract herself. She’s been eating an unusual diet compare to her meals she often eats. She barely ate any frogs and raw meats regardless of how much she loved eating them.
A day after Yca had been avoiding her own problems by making a low-effort schemes. She lazily threw a rotten pie at Bepo and Penguin, putting her happy-go-lucky facade. Penguin and a fellow polar bear raised their brow with concern. Noticing Yca’s subtle changes which they asked,
“You okay?”
Yca looked away before remaining her facade.
“I’m alright, no worries! What makes you think that I’m not?”
The two men stared, not convinced at her response. “You haven’t been more chaotic and bubbly than before.” Penguin said before he suggested, “And you know if it’s about Law, then I’m sure he’ll come back.”
“Oh thanks for your concern, but I’m sure I’m fine! Maybe I just need some time you know.” Yca fanned her hand out of denial, appreciating Penguin’s suggestion while she doesn’t want to worry her peers.
“Anyways I got to go. Talk to you guys later.” She said before she left the two alone.
Bepo seemed to sense Yca’s lamentation, which he frowned. “We really should check her out in case. You know how much how Law and Yca are close.”
“Yeah I know, but let’s not keep off guard. We’ll see if she can handle our captain’s absence.”
Five days had passed, obviously Yca felt worse. She tried to wear Law’s old hoodie to cheer herself up, but it ruin the moment that she misses his presence even more. “This is stupid! You’re being clingy. C’mon Yca, get yourself together!” She retorted with a click.
She kept herself in her room, eating a cylinder bowl of ice cream, as her fellow ghosts were attempting to aid her the best they could.
“You know Yca, you should see the bright side! I mean— You know how Law would always scold you for causing trouble!” One of the ghouls added.
“But I miss his scolding. It’s so weird because well…” Yca paused before continuing out of frustration. “He’s— I guess my boyfriend— and that’s not the point!”
“Come on Miss Yca, I’m sure he’ll eventually come back! Hopefully.” Another ghost said as it snuggled Yca’s back.
“Thanks for trying but it feels like he’s not coming back..” Yca sighed with a worry.
As much heartbroken Yca was, a certain lavender ghost appeared.
“I think you should wait for a moment. You’ll see, Yca.” A ghost that has a form of man with a pattern of hearts on his shirt and a noticeable clown makeup sat down next to her.
“I know that it feels like it isn’t, and you know, it’s not bad to miss someone who means a lot to you. Like I said, wait for a moment. He’ll come back.”
Yca glanced at Corazon, a small sadden smile grew. “Thanks, Cora.. I shouldn’t be impatient… I’ll wait. I’m sure he’ll be back.. If he’s not, I may look for him.”
“Now there’s the Yca I know!” The tall ghost chuckled as the indigo witch crossed her arms in consultation.
“Thanks once again, I appreciate it really. No wonder why Law considers you as a dad.” Yca chuckled as Corazon shook his head.
“Yeah.. Haha, seems like he does. I’m still proud how he have been grown throughout the years.”
“Yeah… Well… I’ll give it a go. Once again thanks for the assurance.”
For the next five days, Yca was more relaxed and calm, still she was pining over Law’s presence — but a guy named Corazon once told her to wait… After all, a little more patience will give a blessing.
She was with her co-workers, implying a joke. “And then he said, ‘Say what?’ and I’m like ‘Lancelot, that’s not a shirt… That’s a possessed carpet.’ And then Lancelot made a huge girly screech and it was hilarious!”
Penguin, Bepo, and Ikkaku let out a gawk while Lancelot huffed in embarrassment, “It was trying to eat me when you told me, Yca!”
“Sorry horse boy, it was quite amusing. I couldn’t make a straight face!” Yca giggled as she shook her head, placing her hand onto the black tikbalang’s shoulder in reassurance.
Lancelot playfully rolled his eyes but joined the laughter with the four.
As the laughter occurred, a great surprise from a noticeable voice.
“Hey I’m back early than usual. And I see you guys are having fun.”
Ikkaku slyly nudged her elbow against Yca’s shoulder. “Yca-San, looks like he’s back~”
Yca stopped her laughter and gradually turn around, with her lips curled she gave a gleeful holler. “Captain?! You’re back already?”
Law nodded, holding a bag of frogs as he responded. “Yep.”
“Penguin and Bepo told me you’ve been missing me a lot and I want to come back early. I told Straw-Ya about it and he excused me.”
Yca couldn’t help but jump on Law with a eccentric hug. “Ugh, you big cow-hat! I miss you so much!”
The raven man’s cheek turned crimson as he held his hat, making a ‘Tch’ sound from his lips. “Yca-ya… Not in public but… I miss you too.”
The witch chuckled as she remained close to her captain, and Law attempted to use his deadpan expression. But a hinted smile peaked as the four subordinates respectfully left the two alone.
“I know, I know! But you know… I just can’t help it! I’m sorry you had to leave early because of me…” Yca shifted her eyes away from Law’s gray eyes.
“No, no… I wanted to.. And honestly, I miss you even more. It was hard being without you.. I miss your annoying schemes and your nagging voice.” He added as he rested his chin on her head.
“And… maybe next time, we can go to a mission together… So we won’t feel touch-starved?”
“You read my mind, Cap! Jeje, and… still… I miss you.”
“I know, I know..”
Law gently ruffled her indigo locks with her fingers as he gently gave a soft kiss on her head.
“But that aside I’m glad you’re back.” Yca said with a lovable cheeky grin as the sun shimmered right after the brief storm.
“Likewise.” Law sighed with a serenade tone, adding another peck.
The two chuckled as the silence flew as they watched the sunset descend into the horizon ocean. The orange and pink gradient add a indent warmness between Law and Yca’s loving moment. Law gave Yca a treat of frogs before she began to chew her snacks. She then laid down onto his shoulder as Law placed his hat on her head lovingly.
Thanks to Corazon, she reconsidered to go with Law for next mission they will assign.
