Chicken Soup And Lisa Snart

Summary:

When Lisa comes down with a nasty cold, Ray steps in to take care of her.

Work Text:

"Okay, your chicken soup is ready," Ray said as he gently laid down Lisa's dish. Lisa had been sick for the past few days. Flu season was always a tough time for her. Normally, Lisa would just try to bear the constant sneezing and runny noses. Ray wasn't having any of this though. As soon as he had seen how bad Lisa's symptoms were, Ray had insisted that Lisa would lay down in her bed and not move until she felt better.

"You really don't have to do all this for me," Lisa replied, while she blew her nose for what felt like the thousandth time that day.
"Yes I do," Ray insisted. His kind brown eyes gazed at Lisa lovingly. "You're not leaving this bed until you feel better. Now, you need to drink this chicken soup while I make sure the temperature is alright in here."

"I don't know how to react to all this," Lisa began, "I've never really been treated like this. Even when I was sick before, Lenny would just tell me to power through it."
"You don't have to power through it," Ray told her. "You just need someone to take care of you."
"Are you sure you want to take care of me though?" Lisa asked. "I'm just a girl from the wrong side of the law. Why do you even like me?"

Ray didn't expect someone as self assured as the Golden Glider to be riddled with self doubt at this moment. "You are so much more than just a girl from the wrong side of the law," Ray started, holding Lisa's hand in hers. "You're the girl I fell in love with. The girl who changed my life just by entering it. I don't just like you. I love you, Lisa."

"That's a pretty good answer," Lisa replied, while Ray squeezed her hand gently. "You really shouldn't be holding my hand right now though. I don't want you to catch something from me."
"It would be completely worth it if I did," Ray assured her. "I'd rather run the risk of getting sick than not hold your hand."

"But I look like such a mess right now," Lisa answered. "My eyes are all puffy, my nose is leaking constantly, and my hair is all over the place. I don't even have enough energy to put on makeup."
"You never needed makeup to look beautiful," Ray said sincerely. "You look perfect right now. My only issue is that you're not drinking your soup."

"I can think of something else that would warm me up right now," Lisa replied, glancing up at Ray's lips.
"Well, if it's for the good of your health, then I have to do it," he answered before gently planting a loving and tender kiss on Lisa's lips. The kiss felt like pure magic. Every time their lips touched, Lisa felt like there were a million fireworks exploding inside her. She could have stayed in this moment forever. Thankfully, Lisa knew that she would have moments like this forever. As long as Ray was in her life, Lisa would never have to be alone again.
