The fall of Yurgenschmidth

Summary:

White sand fell in waves as she stood there overlooking what had once been the great Ehrenfest castle. The hollowing echo inside her heart demanded retribution for her suffering, and she was going to make sure the world pay for taking what was hers.

Chapter Text

The blue cape flying on the breeze was too big for her body. She might have been grown thanks to the intervention of Anwachs, but her build was still slender and delicate. She stood still as she watched the white sand swirling around her, coming at her in waves but never reaching her, as if the sand itself knew not to touch her.

She had heard the panicked screams of the people as they fled, but the pain in their voices didn’t reach her, they might as well have been crickets chirping in the background for how much she cared.

A part of her didn’t care if there were any casualties in her rampaging, she was done caring for such an ungrateful lot, but her mana knew her heart better and had ensured the people on the higher floors made  it to the ground safely as the buildings crumbled into white sand.

Chairs, tables, statues, tops and corners of pieces of furniture could be seen peeking through the sand dunes, being completely buried beneath what had once been the great Ehrenfest castle.

She started walking at a leisurely pace, she was not in a hurry, she had nowhere to go after all. Everything that mattered to her was now gone. As she walked she could see as the noble quarter crumbled around her, as if Chaocipher herself was beckoning the sand into welcoming her into her own path of destruction.

It was not lost to her how the temple was the furthest from the castle. What had once been her home, their home, was seen as the slums of noble society. A perfect mirror of the lower city with the temple entrance being the most affluent area. Her devastating destruction stopped at the gates of the temple, the gold shining gates casting glittering lights over the beautiful pearlescent white sand.

She felt the breeze playing with her long hair as she walked. There was no point in having it braided or even in the ponytail she preferred for battle, she had simply kept it down and let the strands dance on the wind behind her.

She observed the many unfamiliar buildings as they slowly trickled into sand. She had never spent much time in the nobles quarter, only going between the temple, castle  and Linkberg manor; after all, Ehrenfest city was always assigned to Wilfred during spring prayer and harvest festival as the favored child of the aub. These buildings meant nothing to her, nor did the people in them.

A head of blue tinged purple hair kneeled in front of the temple, not in reverence at her presence but in distraught anguish seeing his city turning to dust. She walked past him not bothering to acknowledge his presence and ignoring his pleas for her to stop, and his whispered request for answers.

She stopped behind him without turning around “Why, Adoptive father? Because you took something from me, and I intend to make the entire world pay for it”.
