Work Text:
Rui smiles, entering the house. To his surprise, Tsukasa, his partner, wasn't on the couch as usual when he returned home.
That's odd. Rui thought, shutting the door behind him by kicking it and placing the two bags from the store on the counter.
He sighs, taking off his shoes and walking towards his room, or correctly, the room he and Tsukasa shared.
The two boys lived together in a small, but manageable apartment. The kitchen and living room were connected while they had one bathroom and one bedroom. A small, as well tall, closet and a laundry room. They immediately moved in together when they both turned 18.
As the door to the room opens, Rui finds Tsukasa asleep, snoring lightly and mumbling whatever he was dreaming about. The words were unintelligible. The 5'11 male walks over to Tsukasa and smiles, crouching down and putting his head on the bed gently. He stares at his partner for a few seconds before shaking him, easily, awake. "Tsukasa-kun," he mutters in a low and soft voice.
Tsukasa makes a noise of distraught and turns around. Rui sighs. "It's almost seven o'clock, dear." he says, standing up and sitting on the bed. He rubs Tsukasa's back, easy to not disturb him.
"Mngh.. Im too tired.." Tsukasa mumbles, looking up at Rui with tired eyes. Rui chuckles at the sight of this. He loved seeing his partner sleepy, but Tsukasa couldn't stay asleep for the entire day. He needed to eat something.
Rui smiles. "I know you're tired, but you have to wake up. After dinner, you can sleep all you want." He claims, running the fingers of his right hand through the strands of Tsukasa's hair.
Tsukasa sighs, turning once again and jamming his arms around Rui, wrapping around the boy tightly as if he were a stuffed animal. "Goodnight." Tsukasa mutters.
Rui freezes a bit, unsure of what he was supposed to say. "Tsukasa-kun," he frowns, not upset at all, just a frown of defeat. "Let's make a deal, okay?"
The blonde looks up at Rui. "..Hm?"
"While I make dinner, you can sleep.. But after the food's done, you have to wake up." He explains, grinning.
Groggily, Tsukasa groans and drags Rui down next to him. Rui, surprised by this motion, gasps, falling next to Tsukasa. The one, basically asleep, leans up and on top of Rui, resting his head on Rui's chest and wrapping his arms around him. "Mmm.. Sleep." Tsukasa stumbles with his words.
"My star, you dragging me down with you doesn't change much. Come on," Rui whispers, kissing the top of Tsukasa’s head. Once Rui had kissed him, he immediately gave in and sat up, letting go of Rui. "Oh? So now you're giving in?" Rui chuckles, getting out of bed and smiling.
Tsukasa sat there, quiet and yawning. "Sorry for being stubborn.. yesterday's show killed my energy." He admits, stretching a bit and getting out of bed.
"That's alright, I just don't want you to end up waking up in the middle of the night." Rui says, pulling Tsukasa into a hug.
Tsukasa smiles, accepting the warm hug. He was cold once the blanket was off of him. "Mmm.. Warm.." He mumbles, melting into the gentle hug. He loved hugs from Rui. Tsukasa didn't usually act so stubborn when he was tired. It was just that the show from the other day made him extremely sleepy. He needed to sleep.
"Fufu~ You're adorable when you're tired," Rui hums, placing a kiss on Tsukasa's head. "Now come on, we have to eat dinner." Rui takes Tsukasa's hand as he leaves the hug and stands up.
Tsukasa groans. "Did you even make dinner yet..?" He asks, getting out of bed.
"Well.. No, but it's quick and easy!" He says. "Now come on,"
The blonde sighs, stretching his arms out and yawning. "I suppose you win," he lunges onto Rui.
"Wh– that doesn't mean you get to grip onto me the entire time!" Rui stammars, shaking his head. He didn't mind it when Tsukasa did that, but sometimes it got on his nerves.
"What's for dinner..?" Tsukasa asks, ignoring Rui's previous sentence.
Rui frowns. "You're aware of how if I tried cooking, i'd burn down the entire building, right?" he chuckles nervously.
"If you bought fucking sandwiches..." Tsukasa looks Rui dead in the eyes.
"Aha... Funny you mentioned that..!" Rui smiles.
The blonde sighs, letting go of Rui and walking out the door. "Whatever, I'm hungry so it'll have to do." Tsukasa hollers.
Rui chuckles, smiling and following Tsukasa out of the door. He had a slight hint of blush on his face. He loved Tsukasa, and nothing could change that. "I can make yours if you want," He suggests.
Tsukasa shakes his head, "No, it's fine. I can make my own." He yawns, turning his head to the side so he could crack it a little.
"Are you sure? I'm willing to do it." Rui grins, walking over to Tsukasa and wrapping his arms around the shorter's waist. He laid his head on the boy's shoulder and stood like that for a moment.
Tsukasa sighs. "If you insist..."
The taller smiles, shutting his eyes a bit. He was also slightly tired. "Wonderful! Go ahead and sit down, I'll be done in a couple minutes."
The blonde nods, getting out of Rui's grasp and walking over to the couch. He grabs the remote and powers the TV on. He hadn't been watching much as of recent, so he figured it'd be best to turn on a movie they both enjoy.
With Rui, he was making both of their sandwiches, humming a song. It was one WonderlandsXShowtime, their theatre troupe, had recently performed. Showtime Ruler. The song that was born out of Rui's feelings about an idea he had for a show and never got to fully introduce to the world. Despite the problematic remarks about the story, the song was well-known and catchy. Even Rui himself found himself listening to the song.
Once he finishes making the sandwiches, he puts everything away and then heads over to Tsukasa with both plates in hand. He sets them down on the table. One in front of Tsukasa, the other in front of Rui.
"Thanks," Tsukasa says, picking up his sandwich and taking a bite into it. He had ham, turkey, mustard, and pepperoni on his. While Rui had ham, mustard and cheese on his. Sometimes, Rui liked to make something chaotic and put ketchup and hot sauce on it.
"You're welcome!" He responds, picking his own sandwich up. The bread stuck in between his hands. That was his favorite bit about sandwiches.
Rui looks at the TV to see what was turned on. It was an anime.. Or something of the sort. The title of it was called 'A Silent Voice'. They both had watched it before and absolutely sobbed.
Tsukasa was usually a big fan of watching anime and stuff like that. Shockingly, Rui didn't enjoy it as much. It surprised people that the roles weren't reversed.
In middle school, Mizuki would talk to Rui about their favorite animes so much that he grew to dislike it. One of the few animes Rui was willing to watch was Bungo Stray Dogs. He felt himself relate a lot to Dazai, ignoring all of the crimes and murders Dazai had committed. The humor specifically was what he liked.
"This movie makes me sad. Why'd you pick it?" Rui asks, dramatically.
"Because I can." Tsukasa responds, being half way finished with his sandwich.
Rui chuckles, biting into his. "Uh-huh.." He smiles.
They both thought they were perfect for each other. No matter what arguements and feuds they had. That was what Rui admired. That he knew Tsukasa wasn't going to leave him anytime soon. And if he did, they weren't ever going to stop being friends. They knew too much about eachother to remove all possible contact.
That's what they both loved. That the other wouldn't leave them.
Rui finishes his sandwich, and so does Tsukasa. The movie was still on. Hell, they weren't even half way through. Because of this, they decided to cuddle for a while until it ended, leaving their dirty dishes on the table until then.

Tsukasa had struggled to pay attention as he felt Rui's eyes lingering onto him. So, in response to that, he turns to Rui. "Are you okay?" He asks.
Rui nods. "Mhm! Why wouldn't I be?"
"You keep looking over at me, so I wanted to make sure." He says, looking to the side. The purple-haired boy chuckles, placing a hand on Tsukasa's cheek.
Rui sighs. "Maybe it's because I can't help but admire that this pretty boy is my boyfriend~!" He teases.
Tsukasa blushes a bit, smiling. "Haha, very funny! Now uh–" He stops speaking as he wasn't sure what to say next.
Suddenly, Rui pulls Tsukasa into a kiss. Both of them shutting their eyes as their lips intertwined. Everytime Rui kissed him, Tsukasa couldn't help but honor every second.
In the middle of the kiss, a small "Wah!" was heard. Tsukasa drags out of the kiss and looks over at the table where he heard the noise. It was Len. He was hologram-ing out of Rui's phone. He quickly stammars, making up excuses.
"Len-kun, it's fine. No need to panic," Rui says, grabbing his phone and setting it on his leg.
Len relaxes a bit. "I only came to ask a question and didn't really expect you two to be kissing! Sorry!" He says.
Tsukasa shakes his head. "It's fine!" He says, smiling down at Len. The reassurance from both males seemed to make Len a lot more relieved.
"Well, I'll be on my way now–!" He says, disappearing into triangles in an instant.
That'll certainly be a long conversation with KAITO.
