It was an evening in Katolis. Sun was getting lower and the sky turned orange. Rayla was practicing's her sword outside the castle. Suddenly, Soren passed by and called her.
"Hey, Rayla, I've come to tell you Callum's word." he called.
"Callum? Why?" asked Rayla.
"I don't know." said Soren. "But he wants to see you tonight. It's very important. And you know it."
"Oh... Okay." said Rayla in awkward. "See you later."
After Soren left, She gave a big sigh. She knew today was her birthday. But she was unpleased. Because she left and hurt him in his birthday in 2 years ago. She thought Callum wouldn't like it.
The night came. Rayla was passing the castle. Then she saw a window flickering. Something was happening. She called toward the castle. "Hello? Callum?"
But no one answered. The window stopped flickering. Rayla went into the entrance of the castle. But it was too dark to find anyone. the shadow was covering inside the castle. She found a torch, and began to look around. She wandered the hall, went upstairs, until she reached the top floor. It was dark around. She called again. "Callum? Callum?" Then...
"Surprise!" The light turned in and the room got bright. All the people of Katolis gathered, including someone who she was looking for; Callum. "Happy birthday, Rayla!"
"And," said Callum, pointing Rayla's torch. "I think no need torches."
And then Rayla quickly blew out the torch. People began to cheer, but Rayla wasn't happy. She was feeling guilty. She thought it wasn't right for them to celebrate hers.
"Wait, Wait. Everyone stop!" shouted Rayla. the cheers and the music died. All the people looked at her wide-eyed.
"Thank you for coming to my birthday, but this shouldn't be like this." said Rayla. then she looked at Callum and said. "Callum, I know what I've done to you. And you know it. I didn't even atone for my mistakes completely yet. I shouldn't be happy."
She gave a sigh. "Goodnight, people. I need to get some sleep."
People stood silently. Ezran said to Callum. "Callum, I think she doesn't want to enjoy it. I think she's still feeling guilty." Callum turned his face toward Ezran.
"I'll go talk to her." said Callum whispering in Ezran's ear. When Rayla turned and tried to leave, Callum called. "Rayla, We need to talk."
They walked to balcony. Rayla stood to the edge and Callum stood behind.
"Callum, It's my birthday I know. But is it right to celebrate mine?" asked Rayla.
"Rayla, What are you talking about?" asked Callum.
"I left you 2 years ago. To get revenge of Viren, Breaking the promise and lying to you, Claiming that I was protecting you. Eventually I hurt you. And no letters."
Callum's looked at her in sympathy for a while, but soon, his eyes turned cold. "Yeah, I was hurt. And you came back after my birthday." he said in a bitter voice.
"With empty hands. And now you push me away as if you don't want me anymore. That is what I deserve. I'm supposed to suffer like you did so that I could understand your pain. It's a fair thing. Some people blamed me for that, but I didn't believe it. Callum, would it have been a different story when I stayed with you for 2 years without leaving?"
"Probably yes." said Callum. Then he turned his head toward her. "But why are you bringing that up? Why are you willing to suffer all by yourself?"
"You know, I was irresponsible. It's all my fault." said Rayla. Her tears fell from her eyes. It glowed like stars and the moon in the night sky. "I deliberately abandoned you. I never loved you. I've never done anything right by my own hand. You have right to hate me. And I should be guilty forever. I made you angry once, and when I do that again you'll turn against me forever. I already lost you."
"Hate you?" protested Callum. He raised his voice a bit. "No, please, That's not I want."
"What?" Asked confused Rayla. "Then what do you want?"
"I want to be happy with you." said Callum in a soft voice. "All I wanted you was to stay with me. But after you went away, I felt as if I was in an empty room alone. When people celebrated my birthday, I wasn't happy because you weren't there. Some people told me that I was waiting for the person that would never come back and I was abscessing you. So, I spent my whole life to study more magic, helping people of Katolis, and pretended to be happy. Luckily, I had my brother, Ezran who understood me the most, but that was not enough. And this year, too, It was my birthday. When you came back after that day, I was happy and relieved that you were alive and angry and disappointed at same time. Even when I tried to reach out, the anger, and the feeling of hurt came out first. I didn't know what to do. That's why I didn't forgive you. Not because you don't deserve forgiveness."
Rayla leaned her two elbows to the balcony and wrapped her head with her two hands. She was regretful, despairing, and
Callum looked at her with a sympathy. Rayla said in a deep saddened voice. "Even though I'm trying to make it up to you, my regret and sadness is still haunting me. Everything I'm doing is all wrong. I'm just a jerk who messes up the whole thing and makes people hurt and angry."
He placed his hand on her shoulder and said. "I too get angry when they hurt me. I don't want something bad happen in my life. I don't want to lose you. And I don't want you to suffer with your guilty. I'm Yin and Yang, Positive and negative, I am complicated. At first, I thought I shouldn't celebrate your birthday because of what you did to me. Of course, I wanted to you suffer like I did. But everything I did to you since you came back didn't improve anything. I tried to deny the love for you, but on the other side, I still wanted you. And I think I'm making you despair giving you no chances. I'm done doing that. I know you're trying to be better. I know you don't want to lose me. You're doing good even now. I may still struggling with all my feelings, but I'll try to handle them well. And most of all, I just want you to know this: I still love you."
Finally, Rayla turned her face toward him. "Really?" she asked.
Callum smiled. "I really do."
"Thank you, Callum. I love you, too." sniffed Rayla. She hugged him a hug with joy. Callum gave her a hug, too.
They stared each other for a while. The full moon shined them below. When Callum looked at her purple eyes, Her eyes glowed as bright as a moon. He cupped her indigo striped face with his hands, stared at her lip, and placed his lip to her. Rayla wrapped her arms around his neck and held him tight. Callum held her waist. The warmth covered their body all around. They kissed gently and passionate. It was the most amazing birthday kiss ever. After a silent moment, They finally fell apart.
"Feel better now?" asked Callum with a gentle smile. Rayla nodded.
"Good, Then why don't you go back and have fun?" asked Callum. And Rayla smiled and nodded.
They went back into the hall. Rayla's birthday party started again. Rayla began to enjoy her party. She ate, drank, danced, and laughed with many people. Especially with the best thing she ever had; Callum.
