Chapter Text

Crowley didn’t like his flat anymore after the almost-armageddon-brought-on-by-an
-eleven-year-old-boy. The events of the whole catastrophe shook him, to say the least, of course, he was never going to admit that, plus after the whole Holy Water incident during his trial he was replaced. Hell had sent Shax, a demon to replace Crowley and take over his lookout post in London, England.
So, like any sensible demon, he took his house plants and began living out of his car. He did so for a good two years before Aziraphale’s constant nagging about finding somewhere new or better to live came to a head. They had gotten into another fight about it after getting dinner, Aziraphale began commenting about how unsafe it was for Crowley to be out living in his car in a random alley, and Crowley was groaning about how he didn’t want to hear it anymore until Aziraphale said,
“Oh, Why don’t you just come live with me in the Book Shop!?”
Crowley was taken back, shocked, speechless, and… happy? He was, ecstatic, to say the least about the offer, but of course, he must play it off, “Stay at the bookshop with you? Why would I do that!?”
“Because, it would keep you safe, give you a nice place to stay, have a proper roof over your head, and-and-..” Aziraphale was now beginning to panic, why would he offer the bookshop!? That was a holy place, of course, Crowley was there almost every day just to talk to him, pester the shop comers and occasionally bring him coffee or a sweet treat. And! Every Friday they would drink together and dine, much like this Friday, except they opted to go out instead of ordering take-out. But no, Aziraphale could not bring these things up, he didn’t want to say the wrong thing and ruin their friendship, he had to think logically, “AND! And you’d have a place to forward all of your mail, instead of getting it from that... Shax demon lady.”
Aziraphale couldn’t hide the slight disdain and jealousy of the Shax demon lady, he tried his best, but he knew Crowley heard it, Crowley heard it every time he said her name. Yet, just like every other time, Crowley didn’t mention it, instead, he grew silent. Kicking at some rubble on the ground, thinking, was this a good idea? To move in with an Angel? No, no, no. He had to take a further step back, not just look at their obvious differences, Aziraphale was his friend, his Best Friend. This could ruin their friendship if it went wrong, but he couldn’t find any reason for it to not go anything but right, which he hated but liked at the same time.
“Well, Angel, you drive a hard argument.” Crowley sighed, opening the car door on the passenger side, “Fine, but only until I find a place of my own!”
Aziraphale smiled with giddiness and allowed himself to slip into the passenger side, the door closing gently behind him. Crowley sat down in the driver's seat with a mean grin, “Dear Angel, I do believe you have just tempted me.”
Aziraphale gasped at the comment, but before he could get a word in, Crowley shot off into the night, arriving at the -now shared- Book Shop. Aziraphale almost took back his offer of sharing the shop unless Crowley took back his comment, but in the end, just allowed him in as it began to downpour heavily.
Aziraphale and Crowley lived happily together for the next two years, intertwining their daily lives together so they weren’t apart even for a second. To everyone around them, they had just moved onto the next step in their relationship of moving in together, but for them, it was the start of them realizing that they really are somewhere in that grey area, that only existed for them in between Heaven and Hell.
