do mice come in pink?

Summary:

Sakura doesn't think this is Konoha.

Or Sasuke.

Work Text:

What greets her is the ground rushing up to smack her on the nose and her face smooches into the dirt. She slaps both of her hands down and lifts herself up.

"Hrk!" With her fingers glowing green, she corrects her nose bridge and stops the bleeding in an instant. She doesn't plan on smearing the blood by accident and feels for her water canteen only for her hand to catch on... nothing.

"You shouldn't be here," Sasuke says from the bush, his two sharingan peering out, and it isn't Sasuke, everything is wrong, but it's ringing like familial resemblance.

Sakura doesn't make any sudden movements and steps back. It can't be a henge of Sasuke and who'll henge as Sasuke in the middle of the forest?

"That's some pink hair you have. Hey, shouldn't your clan have passed by?" He stands up and it's not a shinobi who managed to get most of Sasuke's features right. Most, is important here.

Wild black hair with half of it flat, high cheekbones on a thin face - tired? - and two sharingan - how? - casting a genjutsu subtle as a cobweb over her head.

She nods, pretends she is about to turn around, clueless to his threat, and the genjutsu mutes the alarm rising in her chest when there's a snap of twigs underfoot from the Uchiha walking in her blind spot.

It takes little for her to slam her right foot into the ground and with a twirl, she kicks up the debris into his face.

Those bright glowing red eyes follow her through the dust, weaving through the rubble and pebbles flying for his face, when she throws a feint toward his eyes -

Only for somehow, the Uchiha to cross the distance faster than she expected, her wrist in his hand. She plans to break his wrist back but he drops his grip on her. The dust has dispersed.

"I wasn't going to do anything." He chides, pouting. "I wanted a better view of that kunai holster. It's very high quality." His sharingan darts up to look into her eyes. "You don't see these around."

Sakura's eye twitches and her chakra bats away the genjutsu. "I'm not giving it to you." High quality? It's a standard issued kunai as common and ordinary as some pricey rocks to toss away.

The Uchiha slowly smirks. "I didn't ask -"

He whirls away, pivoting on his heel, before her hand can snap around his wrist and he pulls her kunai holster from her. The strap dangles off of his finger and he tosses the holster into his other palm and grasps it firmly.

"Give that back!" Sakura shouts, indignant and not too serious - because what? Why would anyone want that cheap little thing?

"Nope," the Uchiha says and skips back, grinning like a cat. "I am keeping this. No need to give me it. I can take it for myself."

Sakura stares blankly. "I'm leaving." She doesn't give him the satisfaction of seeing her grin smugly after she catches how the Uchiha looks bothered and annoyed by the lack of attention. She isn't giving him it.

"Hey! Don't you want this?"

"..." Sakura keeps on walking into the distance.

"Hello..."

How does he sound like he's pouting?

Sakura shakes her head, laughing sharply because he sounds so stupid and - he's laughing with her.

"See you later, Haruno..."
