But My Universe…

Summary:

Crowley is naming his planets, the Almighty sets a strict reminder that they will destroy it.

Work Text:

Crowley sat in the middle of his universe. He touched the stars and watched the comets zoom buy. He watched stars explode and colors spread across corners of the universe. He noticed a small star system, and he brought himself over to it. He smiled at it softly, touching one of the three stars in the system.

“Hello there… you’re gorgeous… I might just name you…” Crowley said, just above a whisper. He scooped the small system into his hands, the stars were small, so fragile in Crowley’s hands. “I’ll name the group of you Alpha Centauri… and then I’ll name you Rigil Kentaurus… you Toliman… aannd you… Proxima Centauri!—“

”Crowley, are you naming the stars?” The Almighty spoke, and when The Almighty spoke to you, you either did a very good job, or you were in deep shit. Crowley immediately knew he was in trouble. The Almighty didn’t like it when Crowley named the stars, or planets. Crowley didn’t know why, they were his after all. He created this universe.

”Ngk! No! Well, maybe. Why do you wanna know?” Crowley panicked and let go of the stars. He turned toward the light and looked up. He squinted, the light ruined the beautiful colors that surrounded him, lighting him with a plain yellow light, and the stars shown less brightly because of it. He couldn’t help but frown.

“Crowley, you know what will happen.” The Almighty reminded. Her voice kind as if she wasn’t telling one of her loyal angels that she would eventually destroy his favorite thing in his meek existence.

”Why does it have to happen!? I don’t want it to be destroyed!” The angel questioned, his white wings flared a little as he did.

”It doesn’t matter what you want.” The Almighty responded, not trying to calm him down in any way. Crowley glared into the beam of light. He fought the urge to stick his tongue out at it.

”I created it though, shouldn’t I get a say in it?” Crowley argued. He threw his arms into the air as he did. He leaned towards the light, frowning at it.

”I have a plan, Crowley.” The almighty stated, the light faltering as she spoke to him. He blew air out of his nose in response to this. He stared at the light, straightening himself.

”You always have a plan…” Crowley muttered, turning away from the light. He crossed his arms, fingers digging into robes. He blocked the light remaining light from his gaze with his wings, casting himself in shadow so he could look at his beautiful creation. The shadow he cast let him see all the colors swirling around each other. He smiled to himself, loosening his grip on his arms and tilting his head as he watched the show.

“You shall not question my judgment!” The Almighty’s words shook the universe. The beam of light brightening as she raised her voice. Crowley stumbled backward, then landed on his butt. He turned to look up at the light again. His eyes were wide, he bit the inside of his cheek. “Do you understand me?” She asked, her tone was stern, and it was more of a demand of obedience than an actual question.

”Yeah… yeah, I er… I understand…” Crowley gulped as he got up. He smoothed out his robes and looked down. He stared at all of his gorgeous stars, instead of the intimidating presence The Almighty had. “I won’t… I won’t question you again…” He mumbled. The light faded away, indicating that she went away and was satisfied with his promise of obedience.

Crowley turned towards the three stars he was naming earlier. He teared up as he stared longingly at them, “I’m sorry…” He got down on his knees and held them in his hands again. His gaze wandered around the universe. He stared at Earth, frowning at the small planet. He held the small system in his hands close to his chest. He curled into himself as tears rolled down his cheeks. He hiccuped and shook as he hugged Alpha Centauri.

Crowley didn’t want to let go, ever.
