Chapter Text
This chapter happens after the star scene in S2E1
Shes been curious for a while, but now the thought of destruction looms over her.
“Gabriel, i need to speak with you,” she suddenly appeared in front of his desk.
“Raphael! Of course, what is it?”
“Privately”
Gabriel looks around, seeing no one. “Okay?” he snapped his fingers and walls came up around them.
Raphael summons a chair and sits down. “I heard the earth will be destroyed” she rumors, hushed and concerned.
“Well, not right now. Not for another 6000 years”
“6000 years?” its just now being created! What about everything else? I was told its just there for llooks! Most of it canrt even be seen from earth.”
“Raphael i hear your concerns. Dont tell but i dont want it gone either, but its not for us to understand. Would you like a drink?”
“Sure.”
Gabriel summons a bottle of wine with two glasses.
Raphael continues, “so i created the stars, nebulas, galaxies, for nothing? Theyre too beautiful to be for nothing”
“I cant say what will happen, thats for god to know, and us to find out. As for now, we have new life to look forward to”
That put a small smile on raphaels face, just as gabriel knew it would.
"Aziraphale mentioned i might get in trouble for asking questions"
"i dont see why youd get in any trouble for simply asking questions"
"i suppose youre right"
They met together many more times, to drink, to walk in the garden. They loved being with one another, but it came with setbacks. Being with each other so often kept them from their work, and as Supreme Archangels, that was unacceptable.
They were together one day in Gabriels flat when Michael shows up, furious. Gabriel stands up immediately, “Michael! Wh-what are you doing here?”
“I was sent to check up on you. What have you been doing that requires the Almighty to ask me to do such things?”
“Uhh, well i-” he manages to stammer out before Raphael stands up as well. Up until this point, Michael hadn't even realized she was there.
“He’s been doing work for me. I'm sorry if it has kept him from his heavenly duties"
Michael was shocked. Though he knew exactly what was going on, he wasn't going to report it, for he had found someone as well, and he knew if he was in Gabriel’s position, he could trust him not to report it. Poor Gabriel, having to hide this. “Very well. Gabriel, just, don't make me have to check in on you again… I wish you both a good day.” and he turns and leaves
As Michael is leaving, Gabriel starts hyperventilating. Raphael appears in front on him, cupping his cheek. As Gabriel contemplates his status as Supreme Archangel and his relationship with Raphael, she is soothing him, holding him as he cries into her shoulder, rubbing circles into his back and pressing kisses to his head.
After some time of sitting together, Gabriel asks, "are we going to be okay? ive never heard of two angels... you know."
"I know sweetheart. I have you. You have me. We'll be okay."
"Okay..."
It was silent for a few moments until Gabriel starts giggling.
"What? What's so funny?"
"Nothing," he continues laughing, "i just love your optimism." Gabriel smiles at Raphael, holds her face, and kisses her quickly on the lips.
She's shocked for a second before shes kissing him back passionately.
"Do you want to stay the night?" Gabriel offers.
"I'd love to."
