Work Text:
Life is like a movie in a theater; we all play different roles depending on the scene on the invisible stage that no one knows exists. The nonexistent audience is watching the show with our bodies starring, and our minds watch them as if their bodies belong to someone other than them.
- Lance
Lance couldn't even describe the anger that simmered within him, knowing that lives were being sacrificed for just a few words destined to vanish at the tip of a pen. Despite struggling with any plans to be free, in the end, what he thinks are his own thoughts are also just something that has been written in the script since the beginning
Surrender to destiny. Let the letters define life without resisting. When he met her for the first time, his heart fluttered. He still had a suspicion that it was the writer's doing. Even when he knows that he feels overly attached to her, he can't even dare to think that it's his own feeling but that it was created by others. Even though he knew that he already loved her with his whole heart, he still can't accept it.
✦
When the show begins, everything turns into the script, and some of it is removed because it does not follow the story that should happen, such as their love, which shouldn't occur because he is a villain and she is the main character of this movie. It means the one who ends up with her is not him, but someone else.
It seems like the writer hates him so much for making his life miserable since his birth, yet who is he to resist the scene that was written? Even for her, who was his love, he couldn't do anything to stop this suck story that was destined. Even if he can, he's sure that his behavior will hurt her and destroy their love, but what else can he do if he doesn't play the role? Nothing; that demon will sure make it worse if he doesn't do what they want, and this is the best method to not bring her to meet the same miserable thing as him has.
When their shadows are under the spotlight that shines down to face each other, according to the prescribed script, he buried his love under the mask of an actor before hurting her and turning away from her despite that.
No matter how much she says comforting things or what words she says, it won't change the ending that was supposed to happen, and in order to make her hate him to the bone, he will play the worst villain (that is, to make sure she will never love him again).
✦
He always watched her, yet she didn't seem to know. Her kindness is a good thing, but at the same time, half-gentleness is neither a cure nor a poison. If someone truly desires happiness, they must prepare themselves for the pain that will follow. But she's too soft-hearted (if this continues, she won't be able to fight him). She may not be able to handle the pain that she must experience if the journey continues, but she will handle it by herself because he can't do anything for her. He can only pray for her to pass the challenge that was prepared unwoundly. Even the tears from her eyes that fell to the ground were also predetermined (she's a crybaby all the time, which makes him always worry if she'll be alright). It's not something that can be resisted.
Finally, she came to him to determine that his ambitions were wrong (but she doesn't want to fight; he has no choice but to hurt her mentally to make her take it seriously). When the bright lights from the flying Pokémon above the mountain shined down upon the two of them, spotlighting their battle to shine on the stage, her worried feelings, which were defined by the writer, he's going to destroy right now.
When the BGM was about to end after the fight was over, the stage was beginning to be shrouded in darkness. At the time when the stage was still dark, could he hold her hand and take her far away? One minute and one second have passed. He realized there was no time for fantasies like that. He hurriedly left her alone at the center of the stage and walked away before the knight in shining armor came to help her instead of him.
"I don't want to see your face anymore," he said, not seeing what her face looked like. He was hoping that after this, he would never see her again. (He has no right to meet her again).
Have I become evil enough? Lance met the eye of the only person in the audience seat who watched this show until the end. They smiled, and then Yellow reached out and grabbed him to face her.
The curtain descended, and the show ended.
