The crystal clear water of the lake glittered in the sunlight as Remus lupin watched his reflection ripple softly. He looked up to see his husband, skipping stones across the water, jeans rolled up to his knees. Sirius turned his head to look at Remus, smiling brightly, mischief twinkling in his eyes.
“Oi, Moony! Come here, I bet I can skip these farther then you can!” Sirius yelled, throwing a stone hard into the water in front of Remus, splashing him. Remus instantly stood, rolling up his sleeves and trouser legs, hastily kicking off his shoes. He threw his wand into the pile of clothes, before wading into the water, joining Sirius in the middle of the lake. Sirius was still grinning, fingering his pocket for a few more stones as Remus chose his own, carefully selecting them based on size and shape. Remus looked up at Sirius, smiling calmly, but with a competitive glint in his eyes.
“Best of three, love?” Remus asked, his voice light and casual. Sirius had no idea of the dirty trick he had up his sleeve.
“You’re on, Moony.” Sirius replied, looking ahead. “On the count of three then. 1….2….3!” Sirius raised his hand, about to throw his stone, but Remus shoved him at the last moment, skipping his own stone easily across the water as Sirius’ flew out of his hand. Sirius struggled to stabilize himself, gripping Remus’ shoulder for support. “Moony! You dirty cheat!” He yelped as soon as he had righted himself, flicking Remus’ ear hard. Remus threaded his arm around Sirius’ waist, the other lifting his chin. Remus kissed Sirius on the nose softly, muttering,
“I think a little push is equal to a splash, lovely.” Sirius sighed, closing his eyes and resting his head on Remus’ chest before adding suddenly,
“And I’ll do way more then splash you!” Sirius shoved Remus into the water before transforming into Padfoot and clambering on top of him, licking his face as Remus spluttered and caught his breath. Remus playfully splashed Padfoot, chasing him through the lake, both of them eventually falling onto the shore, soaking wet but laughing loudly. Padfoot stood, and Remus instantly realized what he was about to do.
“Oh, Sirius don’t-“ He began to plead, but Padfoot gave a great doggy shake, spraying him with even more water. Remus cursed under his breath, rubbing his eyes as padfoot transformed. Sirius reached for his wand, casting a drying charm and scourgify over them. Both of them laid back in the grass, looking up at the thick tree canopies above them. Remus wrapped his arms around Sirius, pulling him closer to him and kissing his temple, light as a breeze.
“I beat you, Padfoot~..”
Sirius turned his head, kissing Remus deeply, reaching a hand up to stroke his cheek as Remus sat up and pulled him into his lap.
“That didn’t count, Moony..” Sirius breathed against Remus’ lips, interlocking their fingers. Remus ran his thumb over Sirius’ knuckles,
“Oh? Is that so…would you like a rematch~?” Sirius chuckled softly, turning his head to look back at the lake, his eyes over bright “maybe later, darling. You really wore padfoot out.” Remus turned to look at the lake as well, his heart fluttering like the leaves blowing in the wind. Sirius leaned his head on Remus’ shoulder, looking down at their intertwined fingers and smiling softly, closing his eyes. Remus wrapped his other hand around Sirius’ waist, pulling him closer to his side and resting his head on top of Sirius’. He closed his own eyes, and let the sounds of the water and Sirius’ breathing fill him up.
