Chapter 1: INFP

Chapter Text

ENTJ walked back to her group with the swagger she always seemed to have. (INFP admired that swagger. But just because she was so unconfident herself. No other reason.)

"Here's the deal," she said, one hand on her hip as the other held two keys. "There were only two rooms left, and each only has one bed."

INFP tried not to let her emotions show in her eyes. Was she actually living a fanfiction? She was, wasn't she. Oh God.

"That's fine," ESTP said, taking it in stride as he did everything. He patted ENTP on the back. "Me and ENTP take a room, then you two."

That shouldn't be a problem. INFP had known these three for forever- they'd met in high school and, by some twist of fate, stayed in contact up to (so far) their collective junior year of college. INFP was comfortable with any of them. She should be comfortable platonically sharing a bed with one of her oldest friends. There was no need to make a fuss.

ENTP smirked. "Sure. As long as you two don't get into any extracurricular activities."

INFP's heart leapt. Was she really that obvious? And after trying so hard to hide it, too- what had tipped him off? The way INFP looked at ENTJ? The fact that INFP always replied fastest to ENTJ? Or was he just making a guess using his ungodly intuition?

It took INFP a solid five seconds to realize that ENTP was joking.

ENTJ, on the other hand, showed no signs of being nearly as flustered as INFP felt. She simply rolled her eyes at ENTP, then turned to INFP, a silent question in her eyes.

And this was why INFP allowed ENTJ to make friends with her in the first place, and why she'd made an effort to stay friends with ENTJ even when they went to college in different states, and why she may or may not want to be more than friends with ENTJ. Because ENTJ, unlike most people, actually cared about what INFP thought and what INFP had to say.

"Um, y-yeah," she managed, briefly meeting those piercing violet eyes before looking down. "That works."

Now, if only INFP could start saying what she thought, that would be very convenient for all.

"Good," ENTJ said. "Because I already bought the rooms for the night." Such an ENTJ thing to do. "I'll Venmo request the pay from each of you."

And just like that, it was done. INFP tried to ignore how her heart was beating a little faster, and her face felt a little warmer.

Like ESTP said. It was fine. It was only one night, and nothing would even happen. Fine. Just two old friends sharing a bed. She was fine.

Then why was she so nervous?
