Work Text:

"...and I hope you enjoyed today's first stream! Until next time, that's all for now."

Shiori then clicked stop stream on her OBS and breathed a sigh of relief. Debut stream: complete!

After a few minutes, she realized how hungry she actually was. Chuckling to herself, Shiori got up and walked to the kitchen to grab something to eat. She opened her fridge and stared at the contents, wondering what she should eat. Grabbing a pair of dull scissors, she picked up the leftover sushi from the other day.

As she ate, Shiori remembered chat’s reaction to her telling them she eats with scissors. She found it amusing at their bafflement. ‘Reminds me of what kids at school used to say when they found that out.’ she thought to herself.
Upon remembering this however, she began remembering what usually followed with that. Mean comments, kids not wanting to play with her, weird looks, teachers shrugging when she complained to them, and many more that she did not want to remember right now.

Suddenly, Shiori felt a surge of panic at the next thought that entered her head. ‘What if the same thing happens with streaming, but on a bigger scale??’ She tried to calm herself down at the thought, but the panic already set in. Tears filled her eyes. She couldn’t go back to what it was like in school. She didn't know if she could handle it if millions of people would treat her like that. ‘They’ll think I’m a freak…I already know it. I shouldn’t have said any of that during my debut…’

She looked down at her plate and saw two pieces of sushi left. Not feeling hungry anymore, she threw them out and decided to just go to bed. Slowly, Shiori worked her way to her bed to change into her PJs.  As she got ready for bed however, she suddenly heard her phone buzzing...loudly. Curious, she picked it up and noticed it was her Twitter Notifications going crazy. Unlocking her phone, she opened Twitter and checked the notifications. What she saw caused her to burst into tears.

Love. So much love from everyone. From viewers praising her for the strong debut, to fellow Hololivers welcoming and congratulating her, and even Vtubers from other agencies welcoming her to the space. She scrolled through her notifications, reading as many replies and @ mentions she could.
What baffled her was that people said they loved her because of her quirks and “weird” habits, and not despite them. Everything that Shiori was scared of being rejected for were the reasons people loved her.

Shiori let her tears fall as she processed everything going on. She never dreamed that she would receive this much love and support despite showing how “weird” she truly was.

Drying off the tears, Shiori shut her phone off and laid down in her bed. She knew that she had to give this her all now that this many people were already a fan of her. Smiling to herself, the last thought she had before drifting off to sleep was ‘I will give them everything they want, as a thank you for accepting me for who I am’.
