Summary:

Marcelo belongs to Teddiekiid in IG
Ycaletta (Yca) belongs to me

Marcelo couldn't believe his ex-lover was confirmed dead from the news across the islands in Grand Line. It was a difficult occurrence for him to accept until he discovered that the woman he once loved - showed up in his life after several years of despair. Hence he decided to take a while to make a right choice for her and for himself.

Notes:

:) I hope you all understand the subtle symbolisms and whatnot. This is actually my first actual literary anecdote about me and my friend's ocs relationship dynamics. This is canon in Yca's and Marcelo's timeline. I hope you all enjoy :3

(EDIT 1/26/2025): This is scrapped and no longer canon. Due to me drastically changed Yca's entire lore. Marcelo is her love interest anymore, but rather a one-sided crush from Marcelo but couldn't be with Yca due to the age gap and Yca see him as a friend)

Chapter 1: An Inconvenient Shatter

Chapter Text

The clouds lurked among the sky, it was around three in the afternoon. A certain navy-haired man was resting against the cushion of the Water 7 train. He sighed deeply, as his eyes laid on the splashing ocean from the window he’s glancing at. His solemn orange eyes wondered about a lady he dearly loved. From her coiled indigo locks, her red lip classic he admires, her hazel gem-like eyes, and the tender voice she would soothed each time she consulted him. The thought about her gave him a sadden smile.

His eyebrows furrowed as he slightly frowned that he had to leave to visit a couple of islands he had acquired for his mission. Of course, it really woe the young man. Leaving his nymph only made him think about her more, but on the bright side he had promised to visit her as much as possible.

Despite of how much he had missed her, he reassured himself, “ In my eyes, she’s mine.” He kept singing himself that, “No matter where you go, I won't be very far. 'Cause in my head, I'll be right there where you are. 'Cause love has no distance, baby… No, not when it comes to you and me.”

As he kept singing, he could imagine Yca’s eccentric giggle tickling his ears, it brought him a colorful sense of euphoria; just thinking about her whipped the lovesick man. Marcelo grinned after his own little song, as he rubbed his fingers against the window, chuckling.

A week passed by, he was still in distant away from Yca, which he attempted to cope by daydreaming about her. It pains him to the point, he briefly called her with a transmitter snail. As the snail picked up from his call, a raspy voice mellowed his ears, “Hey love, how are you doing today?”

“I’m doing okay, just I miss you so much..” Marcelo responded.

“Yeah, I miss you too… the weather wasn’t doing better..”

“How about you, celito? You doing alright?”

“I’m doing fine. Sigh… I just want to see you face to face— But you know, you’re busy so— I understand if you don’t have time.”

“Of course, well.. I can’t right now. My boss needs me after I finished talking to you. But I promise, I’ll make sure I’ll find the way to see you again.” Each conservation, it felt like Marcelo was in paradise, just hearing her voice and her beautiful laughter flushed him. He was melted from each aspects he could describe her. As Yca had ended the call, Marcelo sighed. Frowned slightly as he kept singing, “'Cause in my eyes, you are always mine, as always.”

Flashing back to the present, Marcelo laid down on his apartment bed, staring at the ceiling as the empty room conjures into an abyssal of nothingness. Rewinding those moments he spend time with Yca, had shattered him as he couldn’t see her precious innocent smile and the way she swayed her tresses. From her boss told him the unfortunate news, after she had broke up with him many years ago; it led him into this monochromic state he’s been feeling. No, he already missed her. Not just that he loved her unconditionally, but he loved her for bursting him with the mushy sentimental feelings he rarely experience throughout his life. Now that she already gone, his tears dripped down to his cheekbones.

He had been collecting all of the letters he had received from 3 years ago from Yca, his little ube girl he once loved. It stings his heart just reading those letters she wrote. From several pages and strokes from her messy writing, he woefully mourned. Once he spoke, he whispered, “I know that it’s stupid to wait for this long… But I’m still in love, and I hope I’m not wrong.”
...

“ ‘Cause in my eyes… She was mine.”

...

Right after he ended with a shred of tear, he rolled his side and let out a shaky breath of lamentation. It was been three years, so long that he couldn’t see her ever again.

Despite all of that, he still cherished these memories he had shared with Yca. Poor Marcelo as he couldn’t eat, sleep, or even try to leave his room. As the lonely night buried among the twilight, the lonesome man couldn’t bear it any longer. Ended with a blip of a foggy sleep, the clouds of the past swooshed into a mirage which he envisioned himself with his lady dancing among the streetlights as they chuckled in delight.
