Chapter Text

My name is Katsuma Shimano, I am 14 years old, and a second year at Aldera Junior High. I moved to Musutafu almost two years ago after my sister encouraged me to follow my dreams. I live in a small apartment by myself that my dad pays for about 15 minutes from school.

People don’t like me much at school and honestly I don’t know why. I’m pushed, kicked, punched, thrown, and stomped on because my quirk is what they would call weak.

I moved here to go to UA and become a hero but I’m realizing that might not be possible. My quirk is only good for healing so how could I ever be a hero. I’ve thought about talking with my sister about this over the phone but she’s stressed with helping our dad and people around the island so I don’t want to add more on her plate.

I do think I’ve learned one thing over the past couple of years. I’m useless, I help no one, all I do is inconvenience those around me. So todays the day I finally take care of something I’ve thought about every second for the past year.

But one thing I didn’t expect was who would come into my life within hours would completely change the course of my life.

———————————————————

I pushed open the door to the junior school and immediately was flooded with all kinds of scents, sights, and sounds.

The halls reeked with cheap perfume, axe body spray, and sweat. The sound of lockers opening and closing, guys screaming, girls laughing, and the buzz of everyone talking echoed through the halls as I continued down.

Once I reached my locker I saw the person I was always trying to avoid standing only feet away from me. Riki Makino, he was powerful, everyone knew and loved him, unless you were one of the people he saw as weak. That meant there was no escape from his violence.

I kept my head down as I gathered my things in my arms. I started walking to my class but that meant I had to walk past him. I felt my hands tremble when I began moving my feet, praying he wouldn’t notice me.

I kept moving but it wasn’t long until a familiar messy haired red head was in front of me with a cocky grin painted on his face. He was about 3 inches taller than me so to meet his gaze I had to look up and the moment our eyes met I felt a firm hand push against my chest knocking me down. Once I hit the floor my stuff flew up and landed around me, before I had a second to think that same hand was pulling my head up by my messy brown hair. A kick was delivered to my face as the boy laughed, letting go of my hair.

He walked away laughing with his buddies not even wasting his voice to tell me how I am. Before he could get to far away a voice from not far behind yelled out angrily.

“What’s your problem Makino” the guy said, his voice was kinda deep and a little raspy.

Makino turned around to face the guy with that same grin still on his face. He seemed amused.

I still hadn’t had the chance to get up before the guy walked past me and before I could see any other part of him I saw red sneakers. The same ones that he wore.
