Work Text:

Langa had never felt alone as a single child, but he had already wondered what it would be like to have siblings. Whether one or several, he wondered if he would have been a good big brother.

After meeting the Kyan’s family, he had figured that he didn’t have to imagine a life with siblings.

As close as the two boys were, Reki’s little sisters had adopted Langa as one of them as time went by. The twins, Nanaka and Chihiro, referred to him as ‘Big Brother Langa’. They were pretty fond of the boy and Langa felt comfortable spending time with the two toddlers.

He didn’t interact much with Reki’s other sister, Koyomi, but could witness how the two would fight and argue over small things.

Koyomi liked to annoy her big brother by calling him an idiot or giving him some silly names.

She also liked to tell embarrassing stories about him to Langa.

Reki had once said that he knew all this wasn’t mean, that it was how siblings were. Langa could also see how much his friend cared about his three sisters. He loved them very much, and would always be there if they needed him.

Koyomi had actually asked for his help several times when she had trouble and he remembered how she was still just a young girl.

“She’s just trying to act as a big girl, you know. She’s only eleven but sometimes… It feels like she’s my mom!” he laughed.

Langa couldn’t tell if he would be a good brother, but he knew that Reki was.

Sometimes, he wondered if being a good brother meant agreeing for you and your friend to be test subjects for face masks to your little sister.

It seemed that yes, at least, Reki did.

“Come on Langa!” he said as he dragged his friend into the house. “It’s raining, I just painted our boards and we have nothing else to do! You’ll see, spa time with Koyomi is super cool!”

Langa was surprised. “You do that often?”

“Of course man! Where do you think my smooth skin comes from, huh?” He touched his cheeks as a way to prove his point. “She does my skin every week! Ah! But I have to clean my face every day with some products of course, or she gets mad.” He laughed.

Langa wasn’t convinced. He didn’t like his face to be touched, he had never done any face masks or any ‘spa’ time. Sure, his mom always told him to wash his face in the morning but that was it.

He honestly preferred to hang out with Reki, and Reki alone. Not that he disliked Koyomi! He just had… a very biassed preference for Reki.

“Please tie your hair up before.”

Reki didn’t have to do much for that, he pulled his headband up with his bangs stuck in it and he was all ready to be pampered. Langa on the other hand, didn’t have anything for that.

Koyomi had been kind enough to lend him an elastic band with strawberries on it to tie up his bangs in a ponytail, which made it seem like he had a pineapple on his head.

“Alright! you two sit comfortably and relax.” The little girl happily said. “I will start with Reki so you can see what I’m doing. Oh, and, take a look at the products and choose which one you want to use Langa!”

“Okay.”

Doing as told, Langa went through the several products Koyomi had layered on her bedroom’s floor. He saw that she had started to apply a black face mask on Reki, which smelled fresh.

“What is this one?” He asked.

“It’s for black dots! Reki doesn’t have that many pimples anymore because his skin is treated regularly but black dots remain somehow.”

Reki laughed. “Good to see that you can’t see them that much if you’re asking ahah!”

“I mean- I see your face everyday but I’m not stopping on that… It’s just how you are so I don’t care about that..” Langa answered, ashamed.

Koyomi smiled at her brother. She continued applying the product and turned to Langa. “Did you find one?” she asked as she turned to face the other boy while washing her hand in the little basin she had filled with cleaned water.

“Oh! Huh- this one.” He answered quickly and pointed to a random product.

She grabbed the tube with a satisfied smile and sat properly in front of him. After telling him to close his eyes and warning of the coldness of the product, she started applying it carefully.

Langa felt the small finger tips of his friend’s sibling being as gentle as possible on him. He appreciated the care, maybe Reki had told her he wasn’t used to being touched -even with Reki being too clingy with him- by others.

The face mask felt fresh, it had a nice smell too. Once she was done, Koyomi set a timer of fifteen minutes for both boys and asked them if they wanted to do something together while waiting.

Reki explained that they usually played cards or board games during that time. “Or we also just sit here and talk about random things too.”

“We can play cards and discuss together at the same time!” Koyomi suggested.

Langa nodded. “But before!” Reki reminded. “We need to do Koyomi’s face too!”

The redhead convinced his friend to try and do it, stating it was funny and felt like painting onto someone’s face.

He agreed and put extra care into being gentle while doing it on the young girl. Koyomi had asked for her favourite strawberry scented face mask.

The three of them now fully ready to play, they went on to some classical card games.

Langa discovered Reki’s unexpected talent at cards. He even showed off and did some magic tricks.

Langa, who had not bonded with the girl that much, noticed how similar she was with Reki. They were very cheerful and smiley. It was nice to see that he could get along so easily with her. He didn’t notice time passing by until they had done their third mask, followed by hand massages.

Koyomi was nice. She was relying on her brother more than Langa thought of.

They had stopped playing games a few minutes ago after applying new products and were now chatting with both boys about highschool. She still had some time to think about it as she was still at the very beginning of her middle school years.

Cute. Langa thought. He was having fun, and felt relaxed. If he had ever thought he would have felt refreshed after spending time with an eleven years old girl, he would have doubted it.

The only thing making him realise they had been doing it all afternoon was the siblings’ mom calling them for tea and some cakes. She asked her daughter if she had done her homework and the kid proudly said she had been helped by the boys -as poorly serious as they were-.

On their way to the living room, Reki elbowed his friend. “See, it’s not bad huh.”

He smiled. “It’s not.”

Reki laughed, he caressed Langa’s cheek with the back of his fingers. “And now your skin is super smooth!”

Langa checked, amazed by how smooth and nice his skin was when he touched it. “You’re right!” They smiled at each other.

Spending time at the Kyan’s household was always nice. Langa had never felt alone as a single child, but now, he felt like he had siblings. He became Reki’s boyfriend a few weeks ago but it felt like he was part of their family the moment he walked through their door for the first time.

Notes:
