Chapter 1
“It’s him”

This day is very stressful for her though she is still grateful that she was able to help another victim get justice against these pedophiles. She closed her laptop and packed her things and walked out of her office to go home to her son. When she was about to press the button of the elevator she received a text from Noah asking if she could buy donuts for him. A smile flashed on her lips as she stepped in the elevator while replying to Noah.
She was walking to the donut shop near the police station when she noticed someone who she had never seen for the last ten years. Could it really be him? It’s impossible. She said to herself while convincing herself that it might be another person who may have similarities with the person she is thinking of. She stared at his back while he was talking to someone on the phone, he seemed… angry. He angrily went into the donut shop as she followed him and watched him buy 2 boxes of donuts from the glass window.
She looked at her phone and noticed how much time she was wasting standing outside the donut shop staring at the man paying on the counter. She slowly went in as the man went out holding the boxes of donuts he just bought.
He looks different now… he has a beard and he is bald. They looked each other eye to eye. No one wants to talk, they just look at each other and absorb both of their presence.
Elliot.
“Liv…” He said while looking at her eyes deeply like nothing matters anymore the sound of his voice just wanna make her melt. It's been years since she heard his voice, the voice of the only man that was solid in her life. The love of her life is back and is standing in front of her in a fucking donut shop.
“Elliot…” She said as he looked at her from head to toe. She looks different now, her hair, her clothes. She looks so gorgeous with her white top and her gray blazer and her boots. Her voice is making his heart beat so fast as if it wants to get out of his chest. Nothing changed. His feelings for her never changed, the way she can make him feel like this. Not even his wife.
Her phone started ringing, she looked down to check who it was and saw Noah’s name on the screen. She took a deep breath and looked back at Elliot. She gave him a small smile and went to the side to order a box of donuts. Elliot looked at her as she walked past him and ordered donuts. He missed her. A lot. He wants to explain to her everything but how can he? He is sure that she is mad at him and he thinks that it’s not the right time yet.
“Bye” She grabbed the box of donuts on the counter and gave him a small smile and left the shop. He looked at her as she left the shop and entered her car.
She couldn’t stop hyperventilating to the point where she had to stop in an empty lot. Breathe in. Breathe out. She kept repeating to herself as she put her right hand on her left chest and took deep breaths.
This can’t be happening, why is he here? She kept asking herself as she held onto the steering wheel with her head down. I was doing okay already, I was fine and happy with Noah. Why does have to come back? She wiped the tears falling down her cheeks as she took a final deep breath and continued driving home.
She opened the door and saw Lucy playing with Noah in the living room.
“Hey” She said as Noah ran to her and gave her a hug. She kissed the top of his head and handed him the box of donuts
“Hey Mom!” Noah said excitedly “What took you so long?” He asked while opening the donuts
“Sorry honey, the line was a little long in the donut shop” She said while putting her coat on the rack “Thanks Lucy” She added as Lucy smiled at and left the apartment.
“How’s the donuts?” She asked while looking at Noah who is eating the donuts “Yummy” Noah answered with his mouth full of donuts
Olivia smiled as she kissed his forehead and walked to the living room to fix the toys that were scattered on the floor. She still couldn’t forget how she saw Elliot in the donut shop in the most unexpected place. After eating the donuts, she tucked in Noah and took a cold shower trying to forget what happened a while ago. After taking a bath, she went straight to her bed and tried to sleep all her worries from a while ago.
He went up to his apartment still thinking of how awkward it was. He wasn’t to face her, he said that he would create a speech for her so that she can understand his side of the story. It’s been 10 years since he saw her face. She aged like a fine wine. He didn’t know what to feel when she saw her, he was happy, and sad and scared all in one.
“Hey dad, you okay?” Kathleen asked while opening the box of donuts. He nodded and continued thinking about Olivia “Are you sure? You seem… very distracted” She said while biting into the donut
“Yah, uh-No… it’s work” He said while Eli went out of his bedroom and immediately went to the kitchen to get food
“What’s wrong with dad?” Eli asked Kathleen and she just gave him a ‘i don’t know look’ as she continue eating “Maybe it’s a girl” Eli said while drinking water
With this, Elliot looked at them both confused and just looked down thinking how he could contact and approach Olivia. “Come on, dad! Just tell us what’s bothering you… We’ll understand if it’s girl problems” Kathleen said while tapping his shoulders while Eli sat in front of him
“Nah… It’s-um… I-I saw Olivia in the donut shop awhile ago” Kathleen’s eyes went bigger than usual while Eli looked at him. “Uhm… okay… what did you guys talk about?” Kathleen casually asked while swallowing
“N-Nothing” He said looking at Kathleen and Eli
Nothing. He said nothing. He just stood there like a freaking statue staring at her beautiful eyes. He couldn’t bring himself to talk to her to even start a conversation. He put his head on the table and looked at Kathleen and Eli who were eating the donuts that he bought.
