She had made it, this was it. The day that all of her travels, all of her journeys, have led up to. Cynthia sat in the locker room of the Lily of the Valley Stadium, and in just a few minutes, she was about to battle the Champion of the Sinnoh Region, Palmer. She had made it past the Gym Leaders, she had made it past the other trainers in the League, she had made it past the Elite Four, and now, her final challenge was ahead of her.
And just as she had expected from day one, she was slowly becoming a nervous wreck right in front of her own eyes.
Cynthia sighed deeply. "This man is on par with Alder, I don't know what I was thinking, who am I kidding..."
"SHIT!" she slammed her fist on the bench suddenly, causing her six Pokéballs to roll off and open.
From out of them appeared her six Pokémon, Spiritomb, Roserade, Togekiss, Lucario, and finally, her oldest partner whom she hatched from an egg when she was a child, Garchomp. Appearing from their Pokéballs, they noticed the distressed and surprised look on their trainer.
Cynthia didn't mean for that to happen, but all of the pent-up stress caused her to just let it out. She just looked at her Pokémon, breathing heavily. Her Pokémon looked back at her, and of all of them, Togekiss first approached. She wrapped her wings around Cynthia.
Togekiss was a Pokémon said to bring good luck and blessings, and it was almost never seen at disasters. It was a Pokémon that shared a lot of compassion with not just Cynthia, but also the other Pokémon of the team. They had grown to become a family over the years, and he was always happy to lift others' spirits.
Milotic slithered over next, resting her head on Cynthia's leg. Similar to Togekiss, Milotic was a Pokémon that could calm their trainers down. She was the beauty of Cynthia's team, and although she always liked to show off, deep down, she once was a Pokémon that still had doubts about herself. Feebas was a Pokémon that wasn't considered the most beautiful, and even after being told by Cynthia that she was beautiful no matter what, and even after evolving into Milotic, those feelings rose up every once in a while. So, seeing her usually happy and determined trainer like she, she could relate, and wanted to help her.
Then came Roserade, who simply presented Cynthia with flowers. Roserade knew that her trainer loved flowers, and wanted to fill her trainer's mind with happy thoughts of the things that she liked. A sweet aroma also moved around the air, coming from Roserade. She also knew that Cynthia was a big fan of sweet things, so didn't see why she shouldn't do that.
Lucario could feel his trainer's Aura, it was one of worry, doubt, and reflection. Over the time that they traveled together, their bond had only grown stronger, and many times they were completely in sync. However, this time was one that they weren't, and Lucario wanted to fix that. So he comforted his trainer as well, in hopes that he could see Cynthia's Aura become more one filled with joy and excitement.
Even Spiritomb hopped over to Cynthia. The most mysterious and dark Pokémon of the team, Spiritomb sometimes didn't even feel like she was part of this 'family', even though the others were persistent that she was. She was a Pokémon that was made up of spirits and was feared by so many people. But just like the others, her true motives, at least for her trainer, were nothing but innocent and supportive. She couldn't hold her trainer or communicate through energy like the others could, but what she did do, was give Cynthia the biggest smile that she could muster.
"Spiritomb too..?" Cynthia muttered, beginning to tear up.
And finally, there was Garchomp. Her ace, her friend from day one. From a young, playful Gible, she grew into a powerful and imposing dragon. Their growth was connected in a way since Cynthia grew from a playful young child into a known strong trainer in Sinnoh. Garchomp didn't even need to do anything, Cynthia could just see the look in her eyes, one that was telling her not to give up yet, to keep pushing on.
On the other side of the hall, from around the corner, was Palmer and his Rhyperior. He was going to talk to Cynthia before their battle, but seeing what was going on right now, he felt that he didn't need to, and just left her and her Pokémon together. Since the day they met, he had found himself becoming more and more intrigued by her, and what he could see right now, was the culmination of everything Cynthia has done, all the days that she worked hard with her Pokémon.
And it was a beautiful thing.
