Work Text:
Will's Grandmother had passed away the week before this day, at the funeral he cried his heart out, he was very close to his grandmother, with her telling him stories of the different mythologies, Norse, Greek, Aztec, Egyptian and more. He was entranced with it, his mother wanting him as far away from it as he could be but his Grandmother gave him a book, with names of deities from many different mythos, and stories about them.
The Final thing left to him, was a bowl, decayed and broken in some places, and very old, in the will he was asked to use it as an altar, to pray to the gods.
So he does, every day praying to the different deities across all the mythos, to Zeus, Hera and Apollo to name a few.
As he gets up from praying he catches his arm on the side of the bowl, so dull but sharp at the same time, and blood drips into it, causing it to glow a vibrant crimson and yellow, blinding him for a second.
As he rubs his eyes, he sees a Hummingbird, coming from the bowl, in a pool of blood, coating its feathers.
He carries it outside of the bowl gently and cradles it as it awakes.
"Who are you?" Says the blood-covered animal
"i'm WIll." He says, "Are you okay?" He says to the hummingbird
"I am okay, thank you for asking" The bird, flapping its wings replies
Will asks "Who are you"
The Vibrant Creature states " I am Huitzilopochtli."
