Relax, Peter Parker!

Summary:

Ever since Thanos' defeat, Peter Parker's life has been going great! Whether he's acing school, tearing up the criminal underworld, or working up the nerve to talk to MJ, it's all coming together for the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man...

...but if it's all so perfect, why can't he shake the feeling something's not quite right?

Notes:

Alright, guys - here we go! This outing should be (comparatively) short and sweet, but I fully recognise that the last time I said that it ended up as a 450k monster. Not this time, though! This time we're going to remain short, sweet, and to the point!

Once again, I'd like to thank Maldevinine for casting their eye over this.

Chapter 1: Relax, Peter Parker!

Chapter Text

Okay, guys, let’s try this one last time!

My name’s Peter Parker. I was bitten by a radioactive spider, and for the past four years I’ve been the one, and only Spider-Man.

I’m pretty sure you know the rest: I cleaned up New York, became an Internet sensation, got discovered by Mr. Stark, stole Captain America’s shield, and saved Happy’s job when I took down Vulture. I’ve met gods, sorcerers, aliens, and seen places you wouldn’t believe! I’ve been to space ! I mean, c’mon, if going to space with Tony-freaking-Stark on a quest to save the goddamn universe isn’t awesome, then nothing is.

But you know what? Ever since we stopped that crazy alien dude, it feels like my life’s really coming together. Sure, school’s as awkward as ever, but who cares? I’ve got Ned, my best buddy and partner in crime, whether we’re gaming or taking down criminals on the streets. There’s MJ, too; she’s cool, funny, and wicked smart, but sometimes I get the feeling she knows a whole lot more than she’s letting on. Does she know I’m Spider-Man? I don’t think so, but…is it wrong if part of me kinda hopes she does?

I can’t spend time worrying about that , though; ‘cause when that school bell rings, it’s time for Spider-Man to start his rounds. Don’t get me wrong; I love those quiet evenings with Aunt May, throwing popcorn at corny late-night movies, but when I’m swinging across New York, stopping criminals in their tracks, I know that’s exactly where I’m meant to be.

There’s…just one thing. Ever since we beat Thanos, there’s been this strange, nagging feeling in the back of my head. Telling me to slow down, chill out, relax — but I can’t! I’m Spider-Man , New York is my town, and at the end of the day I’m the only thing standing between it and total annihilation.

Relax? C’mon, I’m just getting started…
