“What are you doing?”
Valentine looked over her shoulder to see Palona Smith, her good friend and unofficial tutor.
The two both sat on the cold kitchen floor across from each other. Valentine was currently going through her kitchen cabinets to look for a very specific drink. Palona patiently waited for her to be done. Once she finally found what she wanted: she held it proudly in her hands.
“Oh, Princess, can’t you tell?” She responded: holding up the bottle so Palona could see it properly. “Grabbing some drinks. Cabernet Sauvignon! Aged to perfection.” She did a little hand gesture for good measure.
“I know what it is, dumbass.” Palona rolled her eyes but had a small smirk on the tip of her lips.
“My question was what are you doing with it?”
“Play ball with it probably.. I DO need a new bat. Hey batta batta! Hey batta batta!”
She playfully held it by the neck down- carefully swinging it back and forth like a baseball bat. It earned a high pitched laugh from her friend.
“Alright give me that.. You obviously can’t handle the responsibilities of holding something that delicate.”
“You’re no fun…” Valentine fake-pouted. But handed her the bottle.
Palona rolled her eyes once again and took the bottle. She examined it for a few minutes, reading the label intensely. Only taking breaks to push her glasses up higher the bridge of her nose.
Valentine didn’t mind. She enjoyed any time spent with her. Even if it’s watching her read an old wine bottle.
“Well shit.” Palona finally spoke. “This is good wine.”
“Secret alcoholic are we?”
“Yep. I waste my days away, guzzling down four bottles per day.”
Valentine had to snicker at the response.
“But seriously, this is like: EXPENSIVE shit. Were did you get this?”
“You’ll have to ask my moms about that. They brought it out yesterday. I think it was for my mother’s promotion at the clinic. But they drank only half of it then went to bed. Apparently 40 year olds can’t hold their liquor..”
Palona blinked.
“Wait, Mrs. Raut was promoted? That’s great!”
Valentine smiled. “Yeah!”
“…Wait. You- you want us to drink this?” She held up the half drunk bottle.
“That’s the plan babe. But if you aren’t comfortable…”
Palona looked down at the bottle, biting her lip in hesitation. “I don’t know… I never tried any sort of alcohol.”
She looked back at her friend. Brown, curly hair caught in her eyes. A small heat was brought to her cheeks.
“… But I guess if it’s with you…”
Valentine gave her a goofy smile. “Fuck yeah! Let's party!”
She got up, offering her hand. “Come on, Poodle. It’s no fun drinking on the kitchen floor.”
Palona weakly grabbed her hand- letting Valentine’s strength pull her to her feet. One hand gripped on the bottle.
———————————
Valentine led her to the living room. It was much more welcoming than the cold kitchen floor. Plus it came with blankets, pillows, an old yet functional loveseat plus couch, and of course a flat screen tv.
The table in the middle of the room had a spread of all sorts of junk. Some more noticeable trinkets were a small cap that held multiple cigarette butts, multiple remotes, and dishes. A lot of dishes. It’s very obvious that people lived in this house.
Valentine sat right down on the loveseat, stretching her arms. Palona sat beside her.
She handed the bottle to Valentine. “Want the first swing?”
“You know me too well~”
She grabbed the neck of the bottle and took a huge swing. “Woooooo that sure is wine!” She laughed.
Palona just watched. If she was being honest, she was very nervous. But being around Valentine made everything better.
“Poodle. You okay?”
Palona blinked: not realizing that she was just staring at Valentine.
“Oh yeah, I’m okay. Just nervous.”
“We don’t have to do this, Bonita. We can just watch tv or-“
“No, no! I want to!” She grabbed the bottle out of her hands. “I just- need to get over first-time nerves…”
Slowly, she pressed the top of the bottle against her lips and took a big drink. The taste was sour, like dried oranges. It made her cough.
“Ack! Jesus that tastes horrid!” She laughed.
“Not a wine fan huh?” Valentine chuckled.
“Apparently not. But I want to know what it’s like to be drunk soooo.”
She started to chug it, desperately trying to just get through it without the disgusting taste. Valentine watched him in awe. “Holy shit, Poodle!”
Once finished- she let out a loud cough. Red specks of wine mixed with saliva spat all over the place.
“Holy fuck that’s disgusting-“
Valentine let out a loud, booming laugh- leaning onto Palona. Her arm on the other girl’s shoulder.
“How about you give me that, Poodle?” She chuckled, grabbing the now empty bottle out of her hands. Palona let her without any fight back. “That was like- half a bottle in one gulp! You are insane!”
“Really???? Damn, I-“ she looked at her legs. “I didn’t think- I’m sorry.”
“Sorry for what?”
“Drinking it all…”
“Awwwww poodle!” Valentine placed a hand on Palona’s face. “Dont worry I’ll get my rocks off in different ways. I got a bag of Mary Jane in my room so don’t feel bad.”
Palona’s face turned more warm. The touch made her… feel weird. More than normal. So much that she didn’t even notice what Valentine had said.
“I’ll be back okay?” Valentine got up, placing the empty bottle on the floor.
Palona watched her leave, slowly realizing her head started to feel… fuzzy. Not a bad fuzzy just… unusual.
After a few minutes: Valentine came back with a plain looking bong, a lighter, and a plastic bag of crushed up leaves. She had a stupid smile on her face.
“Let’s get this fucking party started!” She laughed, sitting her ass back down the loveseat.
She started to light the bong, causing it to make a sweet bubbling sound. She placed her mouth on the top, taking in a deep breath of the strange smelling smoke.
“Fuck that’s goodddddd..” she coughed under her breath. Palona placed her head on Valentine’s shoulder, finally feeling the full effect of the wine.
So they sat in sweet silence as Valentine took in a few more hits. She started to get better at not coughing with each release but still let out a small “hck!” each time.
————————————-
They put on a show that Valentine said was perfect for getting drunk or high. Something simple.
Palona didn’t pay attention though. Her eyes were glued on her friend.
She had noticed a million details on her face. It became a challenge for herself to try and mentally write down every single note.
Like the fact she always bared her teeth when she laughed. Like it was natural. The fact that she had very hidden dimples, ones that you won’t notice unless you were really staring. How her face perfectly fits every curve of her hair.
She was especially obsessed with her lips. How they looked soft, and plump. Even while laughing they were noticeable. Her lip ring made her even more… attractive? Was.. that really the word Palona was going to use…?
Of course, a part of her felt gross for basically checking out her friend. She knew she was a lesbian but no one likes to be checked out without consent.
But she couldn’t help herself. Valentine was beautiful. Every single feature was gorgeous…. From her strands of golden brown hair to her feet.
She was the only thing she liked looking at the moment.
————————————
Valentine may be focused on the funny preschool dog show, Palona was (like always) horrible at hiding her emotions. She could feel her eyes burn into her face.
Of course, Valentine didn’t hate it. Not at all.
She loved Palona for a while. Not a platonic type of love; but a type that burns your ribs, ties your stomach in knots, creates unswallowable lumps in your throat. The type that makes it impossible to talk. To breathe even.. A familiar pain she grew to love.
She was a butch lesbian. 50% of her crushes were pretty straight girls that Valentine watched from afar with envy. She was used to watching someone she loved fall for someone else. But everyone has their limits…
Valentine almost gave up on dating until a pretty, black haired princess came by with impressive facial hair and a love for science.
The crush didn’t start right away. She was the daughter of a family friend and enemy, a rude one at that. Val at first took it as a challenge to try and get her walls to come down.
But as she spent more time with her, the more she fell for her.
She learnt her habits, her dreams, her thoughts. She swears, a part of her brain was made just to make Palona happy and safe.
She knew that Palona loved her. But the nature of that love was uncertain to her. She hopes. No. Wished it was anything except platonic.
But due to her track record, she kept her hopes low.
But this… staring…
Wasn’t helping… her stomach was turning into painful knots.
It especially didn’t help when Palona nuzzled her face into the croak of her neck.
——
Her breath sent chills down her spine. Her chest rose and fell to a strong rhythm against Valentine’s own.
Valentine glued her eyes to the tv, but the show was basically muted to her. The only thing she could hear was the pound of her and Palona’s heart.
She was stiff as a board. She couldn’t move.
“…Hey. You paying attention Poodle?”
“…” She just shoved her face deeper into her neck.
Valentine could feel her face turn cherry red. “I- um- I can turn off the tv if you want.. it kind of seems like you aren’t interested in this heh…”
“…That would be nice…”
Half opened green eyes looked up at her, voice slow and deep. Nothing like Palona’s usually high pitched and expressive self.
HOLY FUCK.
Her gayass couldn’t handle this. She couldn’t just- let this happen without at least QUESTIONING this.
“Hey. Do you like, want my attention or some.”
“Not in particular.” Palona shrugged.
“Well you just keep cuddling up to me…” the words got stuck in her throat. “And… stuff.”
Palona picked herself up, now leaning over Val’s face. “I just liked touching you.” She said with such genuine sincerity.
…. I think I forgot how to breathe…
“O-oh! Um. O-okay?”
Palona raised an eyebrow. “Is.. it okay?”
Palona took a step back, realizing that she might have overstepped some boundaries. Her face turns a deep shade of red.
“Shit I’m sorry, do you not- never mind I- I’ll just stop I’m so so-“ Her apology was cut short by her hitting her head against the wall.
“Fuck!” She hissed.
“Pals!”
Valentine reached over immediately to check if she was okay, grabbing her hands.
“Oh god what is wrong with me-“ Palona half laughed under her breath. Now thanks to the combined powers of pain and alcohol: tears started to appear in her eyes.
“Hey. Hey. Nothing’s wrong with you..”
“Everything’s wrong with me!” Tears now poured down her cheeks. “Just look at me! Im a freak! I’m fucking gross! I'm a messsssssssss”
“Poodle…”
Valentine squeezed her hands lovingly while letting her cry. It took a few minutes for her to finally get all her tears out.
“…I’m sorry….” She finally mumbled out.
“For what?”
“For crying…. This was supposed to be us just vibing but I ruined everything. And you are being so nice like- I don’t deserve you-“
“Oh Princess…” she mumbled. She placed a hand on her friend’s jaw, using her thumb to gently rub against chubby cheeks. “You don’t have to be sorry. You never have to be sorry for crying, Bonita. Also…if it makes you feel better… I didn’t mind the touching… I… kind of liked it. It just surprised me. So- um- it was a little awkward…” Valentine looked down at the floor while she admitted this.
Palona looked up at her with wide, teary eyes.
Before she could even stop herself: a three lettered phrase erupted from her gut to her throat and out her mouth.
“I love you.”
“I.. I love you too man.”
“Dont fucking say that.”
Valentine had to release Palona from her grip, shocked at the sudden fire behind her voice.
“Don't downplay this. I can’t do that anymore, and I don’t think you can either.”
She took a deep breath.
“ I-. I’m in love with you, Valentine.”
—————————————
Palona started to play with her fingers, rubbing each one with the other. Her face was covered with messy black hair that got in her stuffy eyes and even her mouth.
Good.
It could hide the intense heat she felt in her tear-stained cheeks.
Valentine could only stare at her “friend”. Words failed to express what she felt. The only thing she could do was repeat the words Pal said in her head over and over again.
I’m in love with you Valentine…
Her heartbeat pounded against her ribs. It felt like she was going to throw up. But in a good way..
“I… I’m sorry I-“ Palona started to get up. “I should go, it’s getting late, I made things weird…”
Valentine snapped out of her trance. “Wait- Pal- I mean, Palona-“
She grabbed Palona’s wrist, trying not to hurt nor scare her. It was desperate. A plea for her to stay.
“Don't go. Please.” Of course it came out as a squeaky whine. Her voice was laced with a pathetic need.
Palona looked back at her. “…O-okay…” she whispered, slowly sitting down back in her seat.
Valentine didn’t think she would actually do it. She was expecting a fight.
But Palona was as desperate as she was.
“Okay… let’s… talk.”
The two sat in uncomfortable silence on the old loveseat. Palona fiddle with her hands while Valentine tried to get some hair out of her eyes.
The silence was broken by a deep breath. “So you… like me?”
Val gave Pal a weak smile, pointing at her face.
The other girl laughed. “More than like…”
“…Cool. Cool. Coolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcool.”
“…You don’t have to do anything, you can even kick me out if you want-“
“What?? No! No never! Even if I wasn’t into you, I would never do that!”
Palona gave her a soft smile. It was then Val realized that she just admitted the feeling was mutual.
“Oof um-“ she laughed. “That was.. not how I would word a confession but…”
“It’s perfect, Val..” Palona moved closer to her. “It’s.. you. And that’s all I want.”
Valentine, of course, noticed this. But instead of freezing up; she placed a hand on her waist, trying to move her to be on top of her lap
Palona happily followed her lead.
Soon they were facing each other, Palona sitting happily on Valentine’s lap while she tried not to scream.
“… You’re so pretty Pal..” Valentine sighed. It was the only thing she could say in this situation.
“You’re gorgeous.” Pal responded.
Val had her hands against Pal’s back, trying not to touch anything other than the center of her back.
Pal had her own arms around Val’s neck, making her get close to her face.
Soon, their faces were so close: their lips lightly lingered against each other- barely touching.
“…Can I kiss you, Pal?…”
“Oh, Val… you never have to ask…”
Palona pressed her lips against the other girl’s, causing a delicious shiver to go up Valentine’s spine.
Obviously Val kissed back. Their lips locking pretty soon after the sweet start.
Valentine was shocked by how Palona kissed. She kissed with TEETH. It was hungry: DESPERATE. She often slipped in tongue and bit Val’s lip. She squeezed her neck, like she was making sure she didn’t escape her grasp.
Not that Valentine would want to leave…
She kissed back as much as she could, mostly letting the girl on top of her take the lead. Her head was too light to do anything.
Everything felt… light. Perfect.
Then Palona just- stopped. She raised her head away from the girl’s face under her.
“Wha? Why? Huh?” Val mumbled, shocked that suddenly she was going cold turkey from the drug that is a girl’s kiss.
“Sorry, I just wanted to… do something.“
“Oh- okay go ahead.”
With the confrontation of Valentine’s being okay with it- Palona kissed Valentine’s neck. Which quickly turned into biting, sucking and licking with the same desperate hunger.
Valentine's breath stopped. Her heart finally pounded out of her chest. The sudden attention to a very sensitive area made her explode. This passionate attack lasted for a few minutes until Palona decided she had enough.
“…Are you alright…..?” She tilted her head.
“YEAHIMFINEAOKAY-”
“Ooookay…?” She laughed. With a sigh, she nuzzled back into Val’s neck. She let her body melt into the other girl. Valentine in response held her closer to her chest tightly.
After a few minutes of blissfully silence, Valentine noticed the muffled sound of Palona’s snoring.
“Oi. Poodle? You up?” She gave her a light shake.
“Aaaggghhhhhhhh… Five more minutes…” she responded in a angry mumble.
Valentine chuckled. It was around 10pm so obviously it wouldn’t be too weird to have Palona sleep over.
She picked her up, holding the sleeping beauty by the bottom while Pal clinged onto her neck.
———————————-
She carried her all the way to her bedroom, flopping her gently on her bed.
“Val….” Mumbled a half asleep Palona.
“Yeah, poodle?” Valentine purred. She had placed her in her own bed, expecting to sleep with her.
….Wait.
“I want you to kiss me…”
Valentine tucked her in. “Not this time, Chica. You are barely conscious.”
Palona let out a frustrated huff. “But I want a kissssssssssss. I want YOU.” She even grabbed the scruff of her shirt, a desperate plea for attention.
It was at this moment that Valentine realized: she had a girl in her bed. A girl that was desperate for physical affection from her and was literally pulling her into bed. A girl that Val wanted as much as she did.
Her mind raced through all the possible outcomes of this. Some are sweeter than others. Some made her face turn even more red then it was. Pretty soon she was ONLY focusing on those desires.
“Heh. You’re too cute, Pal, but you have to go to bed. You little light weight.” She gently pressed the other's wrist to release herself. “I’ll be back soon though, m’Kay?”
Palona just responded in an angry grumble but didn’t protest any longer.
Val gave her a sweet smile and left the room.
“…..God am such a piece of shit frat boy…” she mumbled once out of earshot, desperately trying to ignore the burning ache in her lower body.
She went downstairs, disgusting fantasies still racing through her head. She decided to punish herself by sleeping on the couch while Palona slept upstairs in her bed.
