Back to You Bailing on Us, You Traitor!

Summary:

Five times no one believed Lee Minho when he said he was dating famous idol and ⅓ of JYP’s most successful rap / producer trio, Han Jisung; and the one time they had no choice but to accept it.

Notes:

This is mid honestly but the idea was giving me brain rot.. I also wrote this forever ago and am not super happy with the result but decided fuck it why not post it?

Work Text:

1.
“Lino hyung! Who is that, you’re talking to?”

Lee Minho looked up from his phone, he really should be studying right now, like the rest of the group, but he was just so bored. He can only handle so much calculus in one sitting, and it would seem he’s met his limit for the day. He clicked his phone off quickly, attempting to come off as nonchalant, but stil wanting to protect his own privacy, and turned his head to meet the eyes of Hwang Hyunjin, who was once leaned over and eyeing his phone.

“Why were you looking over my shoulder, you brat?”

Hyunjin just laughed at his hostile tone, most likely used to the threats that seemed to fall from Minho’s lips as if second nature, without a single hesitation. “Jeez, I was just wondering what was so interesting that you completely zoned out and ignored the five times we tried calling your name.”

“Yeah, Hyung, we were thinkin’ about going to get coffee!” Felix smiled happily, probably just excited to leave the quiet stuffy environment of the library.

“Okay, but now I’m also curious who Minho was texting! He had a gross smile on his face the whole time!”

“Yang Jeongin! That’s ‘Hyung’ to you!”

Jeongin just rolled his eyes, maknae privileges.

Hyunjin, being the one with absolutely zero sense of self preservation, quickly snatched Minho’s phone from the table and clicked it on, stopping for a moment in shock, when he saw that his normal wallpaper, a picture of his three cats, had been replaced with a picture of what seemed to be an idol?

It definitely had to be, if the mic in his hand and flashy outfit and makeup was anything to go by. The boy in the picture had a wide smile on his face, it was heart-shaped, Hyunjin noticed, and was honestly adorable looking. His demeanor seemed to really contradict the dark elements of his outfit and makeup, but Hyunjin could really see the appeal.

“Hwang, I swear to god I will put you in the airfrier if you don’t-”

“Hey, Seungmin, is this an idol?” Hyunjin asked, ignoring his friend’s threat, as he passed the stolen property over to the resident K-pop expert of the group.

“Um, actually I think it’s one of the members of that group that Lixie really likes, 3RACHA is it?”

“Gimme!” Felix squealed as he grabbed the phone to take a peak.

Jeongin just snorted from the sidelines, “Felix only likes that group because he thinks they’re all daddy.”

“Hush Innie,” Felix whined before he clicked Minho’s phone to life again. “Oh my god, yeah! This is Han! He’s the maknae! He’s so cute!”

Minho finally managed to yank his phone back into his own possession again and sighed. The table erupted into a round of gossip about how Lee Minho, seemed to be a closet K-pop stan.

“I just feel like this is very out of character for you,” Hyunjin said, smirking.

“Dear god, I’m going to regret this,” Minho sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, “That’s my boyfriend, Han Jisung.”

Seungmin choked on the water he had been taking a drink of, “Oh, so he’s delusional!”

“Watch your mouth Kim Seungmin, I’m not fucking delusional.”

“I thought the wallpaper was out of character, but now you’re claiming he’s your boyfriend? Hyung, are you okay?” Hyunjin asked reaching over to feel Minho’s forehead, as if checking for a fever.

An inch from making contact however, Minho snarled, “Touch me, and you won’t see the light of another day.”

“It’s okay Minho hyung,” Felix said, placing his tiny hand on Minho’s arm and flashing his signature sunshiney smile, “I want Bang Chan to be my boyfriend, too!”

Felix is only trying to help - only trying to make Minho feel better, and he really can’t even bring himself to be irritated anymore. Why would his friends believe him, anyway? Han Jisung is literally a world famous idol; the most talented in the industry right now, in Minho’s expert and totally unbiased opinion. He’s also never ever really mentioned having a boyfriend before, knowing that his relationship is a lot different than most people his age. But that didn’t really change the way his mood noticably dampened. He doesn’t just want Han Jisung to be his boyfriend, he is his boyfriend! And he had been for three years!

Minho just sighed, for what felt like the hundredth time, “Channie hyung is very sweet and he would be an excellent boyfriend to you, Lixie.”

What the group didn't know however, was that Minho was speaking from experience. Minho had met Bang Chan, and Changbin, through Jisung - and he had come to consider the two friends; they all talked occasionally, mainly as a way for Minho to check in on Jisung for an actual update instead of the usual “Jagiya I’m fine! Promise!” he had a bad habit of spouting so as to not worry Minho - and Chan hyung was just as sweet off camera as he was on. He would make someone a phenomenal boyfriend some day, but right now he was a little too focused on work.

Felix giggled at Minho’s unorthodox reply and then started gathering his things, “So are we going to the coffee shop of not?”

2.
It had been a few weeks after the group found out about Minho’s supposed ‘crush’ on K-pop idol Han, and other than some occasional teasing or a shared tiktok fancam here and there, the group had mostly forgotten about the incident. Minho would roll his eyes at whatever video had been sent his way, but watch it with a goofy smile regardless in the privacy of his own home. What, he was a proud boyfriend!

They were all sitting around a table at a small diner on a friday night, making plans for a movie night when a girl approached their table. The conversation died quickly as they all became aware of her presence.

“Um, excuse me, Minho,” she said nervously, looking down at her hands, “We have a few classes together, and- uhm- well- I was just wondering-”

“I’m sorry, I have a boyfriend.” Minho had said bluntly, barely even sparing the girl a glance.

“Oh, uhm- I- I’m sorry to bother you, then.” She had said as she walked away quickly.

“Hyung!”

“Minho hyung! I can’t believe you just did that!”

“She was cute Hyung!”

They all watched as the girl retreated and wiped tears from her face, and then looked back to Minho who seemed rather indifferent to the situation, only mildly annoyed at his friends.

“Shut up, please?” Minho asked, at the onslaught of unsolicited commentary.

“You didn’t even look at her though!” Hyunjin said.

“I didn’t need to to know that I don’t want to date her.” He replied, shoving a fry in his mouth.

“But Hyung, the least you could’ve done was go out with her once to like, I don’t know, give her a chance or something?"

“First of all,” Minho sat his phone down on the table harsher than neccesary, and looked at his four friends, “I’m literally the stark opposite of straight. Second of all, what part of ‘I have a boyfriend’ don’t you heathens understand?”

“Maybe the part where the guy is literally a famous idol? If you had wanted to fake a boyfriend, you could’ve at least chosen someone a little more,” Seungmin paused for a moment, and chewed on his lip, “attainable?”

“You don’t think I could pull an idol?” Minho scoffed.

“No, Hyung, that’s not what we’re saying. You’re very handsome and you could pull anyone, but it’s just not super realistic, ya know?” Felix said, sweetly.

“Yeah, why would an idol wanna date some college student?” Jeongin laughed. It wasn’t meant to come off as condescending, but Minho was starting to feel a little hurt.

“Whatever,” Minho pushed his food to the center of the table and stood up, “I’m leaving.”

~

“And- and then they said ‘why would an idol wanna date some college student?’ Can you fuckin’ believe that?” Minho ranted into the phone as he paced his apartment.

“Min, baby,” Jisung soothed, his morning voiced mixed with that cursed english word that Jisung, for some reason, loved to call him, sent shivers up Minho’s spine as he came to a stop and plopped down on his couch with a sigh.

“You can’t really blame them. You would have the same reaction if one of them claimed to be dating an idol.”

“But I’m not ‘claiming’ to be! I am! And, fuck, you’re not just some idol to me, and it kills me when they just throw you into that category.”

“That’s a sweet sentiment, but they don’t know that, Jagi. They saw a picture of me on your wallpaper from a concert, it wasn’t like it was one you took yourself, or one of us together. They’re just going off of what it looks like.”

Minho sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, “The picture was so cute! You looked so happy and I just couldn’t help myself! And- and- It can’t be a picture of us together because what if the wrong person sees? That could cause you so many problems!”

“Jagiya, calm down, okay? Listen, I was gonna wait a little longer to tell you this, but I was talking to Channie hyung and we went to management and they gave me permission to publicly come out. And I was gonna finally release that song I wrote about you and everyone was gonna love it so much that-”

“You wrote a song about me?”

The line went silent for a moment before Minho heard a whispered “Fuck.”

“Hannie! You wrote a song about me!”

“I’m hanging up!”

“Don’t you dare!” Minho laughed. “Can I hear it?”

3.
“Hey Minho, what are you doin’ tonight?”

Minho looked up from his iPad, where he had been taking very mediocre notes that he would definitely need to go back over and reorganize before his next lecture, “Uhm, probably studying? I have an exam coming up.”

“Well, what if we said-”

Hyunjin was cut off by Seungmin, “Don’t lump me into this. This was your idea and your idea only.”

Hyunjin just rolled his eyes and scoffed, “Some boyfriend you are! I thought we were in this together!”

“Not about this, babe, this is all you. When Minho hyung kills you, I’ll write a beautiful eulogy and bring flowers to your grave, but I’m not getting buried with you.”

Minho just sighed and clicked his iPad off before sutting his text book, “Whatever your proposing, I don’t want to.”

“Hyung,” Hyunjin whined, “Please just hear us-” Seungmin elbowed his boyfriend in the ribs, “Ow! ‘Me.’ Please just hear me out.”

“Fine. What do you want from me?” Minho crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair before leveling his friends with a very unimpressed stare.

“What if I told you, that we set you up on a double date?!” He asked excitedly. “He’s really cute and he’s very nice and I think he’s just your type!”

“No.”

“What? What do you mean ‘no?’”

“Are you deaf or just stupid? I mean no, Hyune.”

“Why not? You could use a break from studying and- and-”

“I have a boyfriend, Hyunjin.” Minho was beginning to get very irritated by his friends’ meddling in his life, and constantly writing off his claims.

“Listen Hyung, this is getting worrying. It was kinda funny at first, weird, I’ll admit, but funny. But now I’m starting to worry about you.” Hyunjin said, his face was plagued by concern and something else that resembled pity, and it made Minho’s skin crawl.

“Hyune, baby, maybe we should just leave it. If Minho hyung doesn’t wanna date then we shouldn’t force him.” Seungmin was trying to be a voice of reason, trying to keep the peace between the two, but Minho wasn’t having it.

“Guys. I have a boyfriend, okay? Jesus fuck! Look at this!” Minho grabbed his phone from the table and pulled open his photos app, scrolling around for a moment until he found the picture he was looking for. He turned his phone towards his friends.

In the photo, Han Jisung was standing in a bathroom, brushing his teeth. His face was puffy but he was looking at the camera with a wide smile, toothbrush hanging from his lips and a little bit of tooth paste dribbling down his chin.

“Anyone could’ve taken that picture Min,”

“But not just anyone did! I did! Reverse image search it for all I care!”

The couple just looked at each other for a moment and sighed, seemingly in sync.

4.
“Lee Minho hyung!”

Minho turned around at the sound of his name being yelled across the courtyard and sighed at the sight of Hyunjin bounding towards him, pulling a struggling and stumbling Felix behind him.

“What do you want? I’m trying to read,” he said holding his book up as if to prove a point.

“What’s this I hear about you bailing on dinner tonight?”

“Yeah Hyung, I thought we were gonna cook together.” Felix pouted. Minho is pretty sure Hyunjin only dragged Felix along because he knew that Minho had a soft spot for him.

“We can still cook together, Lixie. If you wanna come over later I’ll help you, I just can’t go. I have plans that I can’t miss.”

“Plans that are more important than us?” Jeongin asked, as he strided over to the group.

“Jesus, fuck, where did you even come from?” Minho asked, jumping at Jeongin’s sudden voice.

“Your mom’s house,” Jeongin smirked.

Minho shot a glare in Jeongin’s direction, “Don’t disrespect my mother like that. She is wonderful lady.”

Jeongin just rolled his eyes and snickered at the older.

“So back to you bailing on us, you traitor.” Hyunjin said, determined to not let Minho get away with missing out on a ‘family’ dinner.

“I have plans, I told you already.”

“Doing what, exactly?” Jeongin asked.

“I’m having a date with Jisungie. He has the day off today which means we can FaceTime and watch a movie.”

Hyunjin rolled his eyes and scoffed. To him, this joke was going too far. At first, it was fine, a passable excuse to reject people, but now he was using it as a way to avoid them! His friends!

“You can’t be serious right now, Minho. This is going absolutely too far!” He yelled.

Minho looked up at him shocked for a moment, but then his face morphed into a kind of anger that his three dongsaengs had never seen before.

“Are you fucking kidding me right now?” His face turned red and his lip curled.

But Hyunjin wasn’t ready to back down either after having been rejected by his friend. “No! I’m not! You’re spouting this stupid lie all the time and it’s not cute anymore! You’re using it against us now! Your friends! Your only friends, mind you! Who else do you have on campus, huh?”

“Jinnie,” Felix said as a way to hopefully pacify his friend, he was going too far.

Minho and Felix grew up together, so Felix knew that back in their hometown, Minho didn’t have any friends until they moved off to college. And even when Felix had joined the university life, Minho still tended to hang around alone. It was Felix who brought him out of his shell and introduced him to his friends - Hyunjin who he had met in a dance club, and Seungmin who he had an intro class with. Jeongin came into the mix this year, a freshman, and hung around the same internet cafe as Felix.

Felix knew that while Minho claimed to be a lonewolf, he could still be a bit insecure about his lack of friends. He had a bad habit of thinking that it was his fault; he was weird, a bit harsh and sarcastic, and lacked social skills most of the time. Hyunjin also knew this, which is why that particular comment was taking things too far. It was said as a way to hurt Minho.

“No! Don’t you think it’s pathetic that he had to make up a boyfriend in the first place? And now he’s pushing us away, the real people in his life, because of this stupid, immature lie?!”

“I think you’re doing a fine job pushing yourself away, Hwang.” Minho stuffed his book into his bag and threw it over his shoulder, “Fuck you.”

As he walked past, he shoulder checked the taller man.

“Hyung, wait!”

“Save it, Felix.”

Felix let out a whimper at his friend’s harsh tone, never having had it directed his way before.

“That was too much Hyunjin.” Jeongin stated.

-

The next week or so was tense for the group, Minho had almost completely isolated himself from the other four, ignoring calls and leaving texts on delivered. Felix and Jeongin had also been quite harsh with Hyunjin as well. Eventually, Seungmin had had enough.

He stood outside of Minho’s door, knocking as loudly as possible. He insisted that he wasn’t leaving until Minho let him in. When he eventually did, forty-five minutes later - Seungmin was very persistent - Minho broke down in his arms on the couch. And Seungmin let him. They had a lot in common in terms of personality, so Seungmin knew what he was going through.

“Ya know,” he started after Minho’s cries had stopped, “Hyunjin’s very sorry and would like to apologize.”
5.
A few months after the argument between Hyunjin and Minho, the group was closer than ever. Apologies had been made and boundaries were reinforced. They had started back up with their ‘family’ dinners and Friday night movie dates, and everything was going great.

Minho was having a good day, a great day even! He had a pep in his step and he hummed his new favorite song while on his way to go see his friends.

Han Jisung had publicly come out of the closet, and after scouring the comments section of his tweet and most recent youtube video, Minho saw that the majority of his fans were very supportive. It was all he could ask for!

The song Han had written for Minho - which still made his heart flutter and his stomach twist in the most glorious way - was beautiful, and it lived in his head near constantly. Minho honestly isn’t sure what he ever did to deserve such an amazing boyfriend, someone who loved him just as much as he loved them.

Minho pushed the door to Hyunjin’s dorm open, ready for their weekly movie night, with a smile on his face. He was met with all eyes on him, a look of pity and sadness lurking within his four friends’ eyes.

“What?” He asked as he toed his shoes off and hung his coat on one of the hooks by Hyunjin’s door.

“Min hyung, you might wanna sit down.” Felix said carefully.

“Uhm, what’s going on? Did someone die or something?”

“We saw on twitter, uhm, where Han publicly came out-” Jeongin started but was cut off.

“Yeah, and he posted a song he wrote for his boyfriend.” Hyunjin finished.

“You can’t just let someone else have the floor, can you Hyunjin?” Jeongin grumbled, but wasn’t really as annoyed as he let on.

“How do you feel about that?” Felix asked, placing his hand on his friend’s shoulder.

Minho rolled his eyes, his friends were treating him like this was therapy or something. “Great, actually,” he responded.

“What?” Seungmin asked from where he was sitting practically underneath Hyunjin.

“I said ‘Great.’ I feel great about it. Wasn’t the song Ji wrote beautiful?”

His friends were confused, all looking between each other and trying to avoid eye contact with Minho.

“We just mean, now you really have no chance, and this - whatever it is - that you’ve got going on is getting really concerning and we’re worried about you.” Jeongin finally spoke up.

Minho rolled his eyes, done with the conversation that seems to never end. “Can we please just watch the fucking movie? I’m so sick of having to defend my relationship to you guys.”

“Min-”

“No. I’m so done talking about this. You guys have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about. I was having a great day! I finally got to hear the finished product of Jisung’s song, and its phenomenal! I can’t believe he wrote me a song! And his fans are being so supportive and showing him so much love, and I get here and I’m met with you guys all thinking I’m fucking crazy!”

“It’s just, it doesn’t make sense, ya know? You have to see it from our point of view? I get that maybe it was too much trying to like set you up or whatever, but you didn’t have to fake a relati-”

“I’m not faking it!”

“Then prove it?” Seungmin suggested. “If you prove it, we’ll believe it! Call him or something?”

“Fine! I will!” Minho yelled, fumbling to grab his phone. His hands were shaky as he pulled up his phone app and just before he was about to hit the little green button, he paused.

“He’s in America. It’s like,” Minho stopped for a moment and did some quick math in his head, “3 am for him. He barely sleeps as it is, I’m not waking him up.”

“Uhm, why don’t we just start the movie, guys, okay?” Felix asked, “And look! I brought brownies!”

+1
Hyunjin, Seungmin, Felix, and Jeongin were nervous. Excited, but nervous. 3RACHA were performing on their campus. Honestly, the four of them didn’t even know how they got lucky - unfortunate? - enough to have the trio come to their college. It was odd, especially with the past couple months after learning about Minho’s obsession with the group. But they were thankful despite it all, they were going to see them live!

Minho had locked himself in his room getting ready, and wouldn’t let anyone inside; which honestly, they had all expected.

“So, who’s gonna bail him out when he gets arrested for trying to kidnap Han or something?” Seungmin had joked.

“I’m so not looking forward to having to babysit him through the whole performance,” Jeongin sighed and leaned his head back against the couch.

Hyunjin huffed and crossed his arms, “Well, I don’t even want to go. This is stupid.”

“Guys, you’re being overdramatic. He’ll be fine. I doubt he’s gonna go all yandere.” Felix giggled.

The door opened and Minho stepped out, his joy was radiating off of him in waves, and he looked the best they’ve probably ever seen him. He was wearing a pair of skin tight leather pants and a silk shirt that was unbuttoned low enough to show off a good portion of his chest. His hair was fixed to be intentionally messy and he was wearing makeup.

“You look so hot, Hyung!” Felix smiled. He ran over to Minho and wrapped his hands around his arm. He hung off of the older and fussed over how handsome he thought he was.

“Yeah, you look great. Are you looking to get someone’s attention or something?”

Minho glared at Hyunjin for a moment, but then flashed a wide smile, “Are we going?”

The whole way to the quad, where the performance was going to take place, Minho was smiling and giggling while typing on his phone.

Hyunjin elbowed Seungmin, nodded his head in Minho’s direction, and mumbled, “I’m worried about him. What’s going to happen to him? Wouldn’t it break his heart if this Han guy doesn’t even notice him?”

“He has more self preservation than you’re giving him credit for. I can’t see him totally embarrassing himself, especially in front of the guy he likes.”

Hyunjin just shrugged his shoulders in response.

The five friends rounded the last corner and were greeted by an entire sea of students all chatting excitedly. Minho, who was ahead of the group alongside Felix, stopped walking and pulled his phone out again.

“Hyung, aren’t you going to try to get closer to the stage?”

Minho shook his head, “No. I’m fine here.”

The group just exchanged confused glances, but were cut off from their confusion when the lights on the stage dimmed and three very attractive men walked out onto the stage. Minho turned his phone off and looked up to the makeshift stage the trio had appeared on, a smile taking over his face that the rest of his friends hadn’t ever really seen before.

The performance was incredible, not that anyone was doubting it would be. 3RACHA had an incredible stage presence, and it was crazy seeing people who were their age living a life that a lot of kids can only dream of but never achieve.

After everything wrapped up, the group discussed dinner plans, but Minho was once again glued to his phone.

“Hyung, what’s up with you?” Felix asked. It wasn’t really like Minho to be so attached to his phone. He was more of a live in the moment type of a person, someone who really only used his phone when neccesary - he barely had a social media presence and only had most accounts because Hyunjin had forced him.

“Yeah,” Hyunjin started, “Let’s go get dinner, I’m starving.”

“You guys can go ahead,” he mumbled, not taking his eyes off his phone.

“But-”

Minho’s phone pinged and he took off walking towards the building that the idols had walked into just ten or fifteen minuted prior. The school offered them a room there to use as a makeshift dressing room, promising that it would be cleared out. Campus police and the group’s own security guards were stationed all around.

Hyunjin gaped for a moment, “Wait! Minho! What the fuck are you doing?”

“Minho hyung!” Seungmin yelled.

Minho just kept walking, ignoring his friends. As he approached one of the security guards and began chatting with him, his friends took off towards him in a sprint.

“Hyung!” Felix shouted, taking his arm when he caught up with him.

“Minho we should just go, okay?” Jeongin said as he grabbed at his other arm, trying to pull him away as casually as possible.

“Can you guys fuck off please?” Minho asked, nonchalant.

“We’re trying to keep you from getting arrested,” Seungmin whispered, eyeing the copious amount of police officers and guards around them.

The security guard standing directly in front of them that Minho had previously been speaking with just chuckled.

If the boys were confused at this, what happened next had them on their asses.

A man pushed the doors open and walked briskly down the path, “Jagi!”

Minho was almost knocked over, the guy practically throwing himself into his arms. He immediately wrapped his arms around the other, hugging him tightly. The other four stood staring at the two with confused looks painted on their faces.

“Fuck, I missed you so much!” The slightly shorter pulled away and just stared at Minho. He brought his hands up to cradle the other face, and that’s when the group finally recognized the newcomer. Han Jisung.

Han Fucking Jisung.

“Did you watch?! How was it?! Did you enjoy it? I messed up the lyrics in the middle but I think we ended really strong!”

Minho just stared at him with the softest smile, adoration shining in his eyes.

“It was perfect. You were perfect.” He brought his hand up to run through Jisung’s hair, the younger leaning into the touch and smiling widely. Minho ran his thumb gently under the younger’s left eye, “You didn’t take your makeup off all the way, Jagiya.”

“I was too excited to see you! You’re lucky I came out with pants on!”

The two just laughed and stared into each others’ eyes. They were in their own world, it was like they were communicating without even using words.

“If you’re wondering, yes, they’re always like this.” A not completely unfamiliar voice chimed in, as they had just listened to him on stage a short time ago.

“Yeah and it’s absolutely disgusting. They’re the closest thing to soul mates I’ve ever seen.” A second voice said.

“Oh my god,” Felix said, eyes wide.

“Hello, I’m Chan,” he chuckled, “And this is Changbin.”

“Yo,” the shorter said throwing up a peace sign.

“And that’s Hannie, as I’m sure you’ve worked out.” Chan said, throwing a glance at the two that were wrapped around each other. It was almost vomit inducing how closely they resembled one singular being, like they were two halves finally reuniting and coming together perfectly.

“I’m pretty sure they don’t even know we’re still here,” Changbin fake gagged.

“You’re- But- And- What? Minho wasn’t lying?” Hyunjin stuttered out.

“What actually is going on right now?” Seungmin asked.

The two newcomers seemed confused for a moment, “Wait, lying?” Changbin asked.

“We thought Minho was lying when he told us he was dating him. We just thought he liked your guys’ music and favored him?” Jeongin said, stepping up where Hyunjin and Seungmin were clearly still lost to the situation.

“Uhm, anyway, idiots number one and two here are Hyunjin and Seungmin. This is Felix,” he gestured to where Felix was just staring at Chan, cheeks red, “And I’m Jeongin.”

“It’s nice to meet Minho’s friends. He talks about you guys often.” Chan smiled and glanced Felix’s way, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

Jeongin elbowed Felix which shook him out of his stunned silence.

“I’m Felix.” He stated, drawing laughs out of everyone.
