Chapter Text
.
“I have this feeling…” A distance voice whispered.
“Like what?” Another called from the darkness.
“Like I’ve forgotten something.”
Silence rang for a moment before a gentle voice echoed.
“Was it something important?”
.
Voices from the distant recesses of his mind were a familiar concept to Technoblade. As of late however, the voices spoke to him under the guise of blurry dreams. Present enough to make him aware but distant enough to elude any and all sense. This bothered him greatly.
With a frustrated sigh, the Blood God threw off his bedsheets and stared at himself in the mirror. Maybe with enough concentration the voices would answer at least one of his nagging questions.
After some time of staring he still had no such luck.
“Hundreds of years of being incapable of shutting up, and now you decide to go silent??” He rolls his eyes at his reflection.
Brooding in his irritation would do him no good, so with yet another frustrated half-growl he stood to begin the short journey to his kitchen.
Heaven was a place beyond mortal existence, a place beyond the constraints of time and the chains of death. A place also above the need for government.
An unfortunate misunderstanding on Technoblade’s part.
Once he had arrived at the pearly gates with justice and freedom on his mind, it was hard to accept that there was nothing to do with those emotions. This lead to him spending a little time outside of the walls of Heaven to aimlessly wander and think about his next move.
During that period of wandering he ran into an Angel by the name of Lucas. The man reminded Technoblade of a few of his older friends back on the Mortal Plane. A thought that drew him to making a friend, and yet caused him to be weary.
Lucas was a great friend for the most part. He allowed Technoblade to stay at his place within Heaven until Techno could find a spot for himself, and during that time they grew rather close.
Nowhere near the friendship Techno had with Phil… but it was nice to have someone he felt like he could trust. Lucas held some semblance to an older brother to Technoblade.
Techno had never had an older brother.
They did almost everything together: trained, hunted, worked, farmed, everything Techno had always done either alone or with Philza.
They even went to war together.
War in Heaven was a particularly dangerous matter. As Heaven is beyond the chains of death, it is tied to the nothingness of non-existence and existence. A weapon able to destroy in Heaven is a weapon wielded by a God, Demon, or a Deity of the like. Already dangerous alone, catastrophic when put together.
Lucas described it as being torn apart.
Everyone else described it as worse.
“Death is less scary when compared to what happens in its absence.” One of Lucas’ friends had answered when Techno inquired about it.
“On the Mortal Plane, Death is willing to negotiate. The abyss is not as kind.”
The war was long, tiring, and difficult. They were under attack by a creature no one could identify. It held no grace of God, no will of Demon, and no desire of Deity. No one had seen it, if someone had they never returned to mention it.
One of the nights, the troop of soldiers Lucas and Techno were stationed with stopped to make camp in the Evergreen woods. They had traveled far that day, but Heavens glowing light was still a warm comfort in the distance.
“Lucas! Tech!” A soldier waved them over to a large campfire. “We’re sharing stories, heard you two have some great tales.”
Lucas wandered over with Techno on his heels.
“I’ve got a few but I bet Blood God over here has some great ones.” He chuckled, ruffling Techno’s hair.
That was a first. No one had ever displayed such an immature gesture of affection towards Techno. He was torn between sneering and laughing along with them.
He smacked Lucas’ hand away and attempted to fix his crown.
“I do, but they’re $50 a piece.”
Lucas made a show of turning his pockets inside out.
“Sorry man, left all my Mortal cash back in the dark ages.”
“That’s fine, I’ll settle for food rations.”
Technoblade was joking naturally, however he wouldn’t be opposed to any offers made.
“Fine then, I’ll tell a story.” Lucas settled down on the dirt beside the fire.
“Any requests?”
The soldier who called them over shot his hand up like a boy in school.
“Yes, Geoff?”
“You said you knew the Angel of Death hundreds of years ago, what was he like?”
Lucas frowned. “Any other suggestions?”
“You knew Phil?” Techno cut in.
The group huddled around the fire fell eerily silent. Technoblade sensed he said something he shouldn’t have, which didn’t make any sense as he had only mentioned Philza.
“How do you know his name?” Lucas was looking at him with a sneer that made Techno uneasy.
Even with all of the signals, Techno refused to lie about his best friend.
“Phil has been my closest friend for decades. I knew some people called him the Angel of Death- I just didn’t think it was so serious.”
“So he even told you and you were still friends with him??” Lucas seemed entirely indignant at this notion.
“You do realize I’m called the Blood God for a reason.”
“You killed Mortals, that’s different.”
Techno felt a prick of curiosity. Had Philza not gained his title from the Mortal Plane as he had? More pressingly, how??
He carefully pursued the matter. “Was that not how Philza got his title?”
“Stop calling him that. He lost his name when he fell.” Lucas snapped. “The Angel of Death wiped out an entire town in Heaven.”
“I thought only-“
“Death herself was aiding him. That’s how he got his title. The fool was enamored by her and believed himself to be in love.”
That was Kristen, Phil’s beloved whom he frequently spoke highly of to Techno during their travels. From what he had gathered though, Kristen was a kind and understanding Goddess. If she asked Phil to level a town there had to have been a reason.
“Do you know why she asked him to do that?”
Lucas looked so furious that Techno found himself mentally comparing him to Tommy whenever Wilbur bested him in sparring.
“Hundreds of Angels were lost that day and you ask WHY?”
“I dunno that feels like a pretty obvious question to want to-“
Lucas seemed to have had enough and stormed off towards the tents before Techno could finish his sentence.
One of the other soldiers gave Techno a sympathetic look.
“It’s not fair of him to be mad at you for not knowing… but have mercy with him. He lost his entire family that day.”
The story time mood had long-since died and so, with a reassuring pat on the shoulder, Geoff and the others trailed off to the tents as well.
That was the last night Technoblade spoke to any of them.
While they were in their tents, it struck. Faster than lightning and more deadly than poison, half the camp was lost before the remaining even knew what hit them. Their best efforts to scramble together were nowhere near enough.
When the survivors returned home, Lucas got a promotion to General because of his leadership during the whole ordeal.
He became a different person after that, not so much as even looking Techno’s way. Not that Techno cared.
He had found the person Lucas had become to be an utter jackass for lack of a better term. He bullied the newer soldiers and berated the older ones. Techno was glad to be left out of it by that point.
Technoblade had his own house and a new life to lead in Heaven. He’d spent enough time in the Mortal Plane dwelling on the past.
——
Technoblade sauntered into the kitchen for some breakfast. He had frozen some stew the night prior and now could indulge in the fruits of his labor.
An incessant banging came from the front door.
The fruits would have to wait.
“Who is it?” Techno hollered, secretly hoping no one would reply and he could choose to ignore it.
“Lieutenant Geoff, open up!” Demanded the voice outside.
Geoff… Geoff… Techno had heard that name before.
With a sad glance at his still frozen carrot and potato stew, he left to answer the door.
“I swear, Officer, the kid started it-“ Techno joked as he came face to face with the Lieutenant.
The other lit up with excitement. “Tech! By God you haven’t changed a bit!”
“Sorry- do I know you?” Techno cautiously closed the door a bit more.
“Ouch. I thought we were friends.” The other feigned sadness.
Technoblade closely examined the man’s face.
‘Geoff’ the voices whispered oh-so faintly in the back of his mind, mocking him for not remembering.
“OH!” Techno exclaimed. “Geoff! It’s been forever wow you changed a lot.”
Lying had not been Techno’s brightest idea, but the Lieutenant looked so excited to see him that Techno couldn’t bring himself to admit he had never seen the man before. He felt like he made the right choice too, as Geoff’s eyes that were already bright as fireworks lit up like the Milky-way at the supposed recognition.
“I know!” Geoff chimed. “I finally grew into that stupid suit of armor. Oh- and I don’t have any more down feathers.” He beamed with pride, wings flexing open proudly.
“That’s great, what brings you here?”
Geoff looked a bit embarrassed for getting so wrapped up that he forgot to state his official business.
“OH- UH- EHEM-“ he straitened up.
“General Lucas, General Dusana, and Admiral Alaric wish to see you at the East Tower tonight for a very important meeting.”
“I’m retired,” Techno drawled. “They should know.”
The Lieutenant awkwardly fixed his helmet. “They uhh… aren’t asking.”
Technoblade casually glanced towards his back door. He could make it if he needed to.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” His tone darkened, Geoff looked rather upset.
“I’m under orders to arrest you if necessary.”
“I see. Well, can I pack my lunch at least?”
Geoff, who had perked up at the thought of not having to arrest Techno, happily agreed.
Techno gently closed the door and silently but quickly made his way to the back door. He knew if he attended that meeting they would attempt to get him back in the army. He’d already been told by several other old friends that the system was beginning to collapse, Techno wouldn’t put it past the General’s to try and trap him into it.
He chuckled to himself lightly as he slipped out the back. Poor Geoff really was a good man, he just trusted everyone a little too much. As Techno turned to run he ran face first into someone.
“You really are impossible you know that?” Lucas growled out.
The angel blocked the narrow tunnel with his wings spread out, casting a massive shadow into the already dark alley.
“Oh no. A single angel, whatever shall I do.” Techno snarked. He had taken down more angels in his time at Heaven than he could count. Even though Lucas was highly skilled, both of them knew he was no match for the Blood God.
“I could relieve Geoff of duty, you know? For letting you escape despite being under strict orders to arrest you.”
Now that he had seen Lucas, Techno recalled who Geoff was. Sweet, innocent, and ever-loyal Geoff. The younger angel served as a bright reminder that not everyone turned callous in hardship. Geoff was someone Techno would consider a friend.
“He looks up to you.” He said to the angel.
“His mistake. Now are you coming or do I need to add a little more leverage?”
Techno thought through his options. At the end of it all, he would likely have more of an advantage if he knew everything that was going on. As much as he hated it, he’d had to listen to Lucas.
He swiftly walked back inside, careful to quietly close the door so that Geoff wouldn’t know he had attempted to run.
——
“Sally and I are planning on getting married.”
Techno was brutally ripped from his thoughts and thrown into the world again.
“Excuse me?”
Geoff was grinning like a child on Christmas, his step never faltering as they continued the trek to the East Tower.
Walking was uncommon in Heaven. Then again- almost all but one of its residents could fly. Alternate transportation had never been considered since flying was so enjoyable to Angels. After some time Techno had gotten used to walking miles to get places, contrary to when he first arrived and sorely missed his elytra.
“Sally- or, well, that’s what I call her. A nickname she got when we were little. You may recognize her common name, Sarah.”
Truth be told Technoblade did not. This made him feel a twinge of guilt. Incapable of recognizing a dear friend and, apparently, that friend’s fiancé.
‘Sally’ the voices growled. One of the voices sounded different though, oddly a lot like Wilbur.
.
“She’s the most perfect person you’ll ever meet, I can’t wait for you guys to see her.” Wilbur said wistfully, kicking his feet in the water.
“Eww,” Tommy made a face as he sat on the dock beside Wil, “if you don’t stop talking about your gross fish wife I’m gonna tell Phil.”
“As if he’s any better.” Techno laughed.
Wilbur turned to the two of them. “At least I have the complex emotional capacity for true love.”
“Oh I’m sure you have a complex of some kind.” Tommy muttered.
As the three sat at the dock the sun continued its way across the sky, eventually touching the mountains behind them.
Tommy had fallen asleep with one foot dangling off the dock, and Techno was keeping a sharp eye on him to make sure he didn’t roll off. When he looked to Wil he felt a twinge of sadness.
Wilbur was hugging his legs to his chest.
“Hey Wil?” Techno asked softly.
No answer.
“Wilbur?”
Wilbur buried his face in his knees and refused to move.
Techno sighed. “… Are you sure you guys agreed on today?”
Still no answer.
With a hesitant glance at Tommy’s precarious sleeping position, Techno moved to sit beside Wilbur, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“Wil, I know it hurts but.. maybe something just came up? I mean- people get busy. You said she was a shapeshifter, yeah? I bet they’re always busy with something.”
Wilbur spoke angrily into his knees. “What makes you think that?”
Techno winced as he recalled his life before meeting Phil. Being constantly hunted down by almost everyone around him, all for what? Immortality? Power? Annoying voices?
He let out a heavy breath of air. “Call it a hunch.”
Wilbur lifted his head to reveal a tear-stained face.
“What am I gonna tell Fundy?” He cried.
“I can’t do this” The tears continued flowing. “I can’t be a Dad, Techno, I’m not like you and Phil-“
“-I’m not a Dad” Techno cut in.
“You guys keep whole countries safe, I can’t even protect Tommy from my own stupidity.”
Wilbur did have a nasty habit of dragging Tommy into all of his crazy stunts with zero regard for the younger boy’s safety or wants.
“And even after I tell you all of this, even after I spill my guts to you the worst of it is that I won’t change.” Wilbur let out a choked sob and his head fell back into his knees.
“I know what’s wrong with me but I can’t change- no- I won’t change and I don’t know why. Not for you, not for Dad, not for Tommy.. what if I can’t for Fundy? He doesn’t deserve that.” He clutched his legs even tighter, squeezing them to his chest with the will to fold in on himself.
Techno was left speechless. Everything Wilbur had said was right, which made it impossible to try to console him. Anything he said would be the worlds most blatant lie.
So he didn’t speak.
Techno gently placed an arm around Wilbur and simply sat still. Not long after, Wilbur began to shake as he sobbed silently into his knees. For a moment Techno worried he wasn’t helping at all, until Wilbur leaned a bit into Techno’s side.
In a strange moment of older brother instinct, Techno began to quietly sing a song that Phil taught him years ago.
“You say I took the name in vain
I don’t even know the name
But if I did, well, really, what’s it to you?
There’s a blaze of light in every word
It doesn’t matter which you heard
The Holy or the broken hallelujah..”
After a bit of silence, Wilbur’s quiet humming filled the unspoken chorus.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, hallelujah… hallelujah
The moon was high in the sky before Wilbur finally calmed himself down. Still refusing to leave his defensive curl, he just sat quietly.
“Fundy won’t be alone you know.” Techno broke the peaceful silence.
Wilbur reluctantly unfurled himself. “Yeah, I guess.”
“I’m just gonna assume there’s a lot more than that going on, because it seems like that.”
Wilbur nodded.
The two sat in comfortable silence for a time. The water quietly splashing below them and the sound of a distant cricket being the only noises they could hear.
Those and a sudden SPLASH from behind them-
“I knew he was gonna do that.” Techno rolled his eyes and walked over to help a distraught Tommy back onto the dock.
“You know that that song is about the you-know-what-“ Tommy clung to the dock like a washed up raccoon and glared at the older two.
Both Wilbur and Techno burst out laughing.
“It is not!” Wilbur defended.
“Yes it is,” Tommy dried his hair with Technos robe, ignoring the older’s stern look.
“It is about-“ he looked around as if someone was possibly watching them. “The deed.”
Techno tugged his robe free. “I doubt that’s it.”
“I dunno Tech, he makes a compelling argument.” Wilbur declared, sarcasm practically dripping from his voice.
“Doesn’t matter because I’m going to rewrite it one day.” The youngest scoffed.
“Will you now?”
“Yes… and Wilbur can sing it.”
“Will I now?”
Tommy splashed some water in Wilbur’s direction, a mischievous grin on his face.
“Let’s just go home, I’m freezing.”
.
‘Sally’ the voices growled again, snapping Techno out of his thoughts.
“It’s been a long time, I’m sure it’ll come to me if you describe her.” Techno responded hopefully.
Geoff positively glowed at that notion. Techno feared he had unleashed a beast that should’ve remained shackled.
“She’s brilliant. Just brilliant.” Geoff beamed. “She has brown eyes so vibrant that you’d think she’d trapped a forest in them…”
There was a description of lovely Sarah in there somewhere, but as Geoff rambled on Techno managed to lose it. In his defense, how does one have a beautifully crooked yet perfectly symmetrical smile at the same time?
The walk to the East Tower seemed to take an eternity. By the time they arrived, Geoff had described his love for Sarah with more words than those that existed in the dictionary. He had also filled Techno in entirely on their expected baby girl, who Geoff was certain would have her mothers perfect eyes.
Tired from the walk, Techno still somehow managed to politely tell Geoff that he needed to attend the meeting lest he be arrested… again.
“I’m sorry, I’ve been rambling again haven’t I?” Geoff held the door open for Techno with an apologetic look.
The other sighed, unable to even be genuinely annoyed.
“A little but I don’t mind, Geoff. I’m glad you found someone who you can tell stories about.”
Geoff managed to contain his gratitude. The little watering of his eyes did not elude Technoblade though as he stepped inside.
The moment his foot touched solid ground within the entrance to the Tower a voice boomed.
“Name.” It all but snarled.
“Define what exactly a name is.” Techno smiled. If he had to be there he was going to have as much fun as possible.
“Wha- I… You aren’t supposed to say that.” The voice changed to a surprisingly whiny pitch.
Techno looked around for the source of the voice. The entrance lead to a large circular room with a desk and lobby. Above there was a stunning display of stained glass, depicting an image of Icarus before he fell. When he was flying high as he could in the sky.
“Where are you?” Techno took a few more steps into the room.
A rustling came from behind one of the two pillars but Techno still couldn’t see anything.
“What do you mean? I’m right here.”
Techno spun around, still nothing.
“Ok well, UP here.”
Following the instructions to look up, Techno realized he was mistaken about the pillars. They were feet. He was speaking to a man who had to have been at least 30 feet tall.
“Oh..” Was all Techno could breathe out.
The man cautiously turned so that he could look down at Techno. He had piercing emerald eyes and his skin appeared to be made of pure gold.
“Omygosh! Techno!!” The man cheered, happily clapping his hands together.
Techno couldn’t believe he had never put it together before.
“Foolish??”
Obviously he was in Heaven. He was a God! Techno felt ridiculous for having never considered the concept.
“Long time no see, buddy.” Foolish held down a finger for what Techno assumed was a fist bump.
Techno awkwardly obliged, careful not to hurt his fist on the rock-solid digit.
“I’m here for a meeting with some pompous nerds, do you know where I need to go for that?”
Foolish scrunched his face in thought. After a brief moment, he pointed to the right.
“Down that hallway I think. Should be pretty obvious, I heard them squabbling a bit ago.”
“Lovely.” Techno muttered. “Thanks, gotta go so they don’t try to arrest me again.”
“Did you drop-kick another child?” Foolish asked, mortified.
“Me?? No, never.” He paused “Some minor tax evasion and maybe there was a slight incident involving fire- but I’ve already been told that’s not what this is about.”
Foolish couldn’t even respond, he simply stared at Techno with both disbelief and slight contempt. His disapproval quickly dissolved into a chuckle though as Techno walked away.
——
The hallway was unnecessarily long and dark. Some of the lights seemed to be out in almost every area, those that were still lit suffered from flickering bulbs.
Techno could smell something off too, like old perfume mixed with dust. It wasn’t the worst smell ever but it made the all around ambience that much more dreary.
Sure enough, up ahead Techno could hear bickering. A few of the voices grew in intensity and became clear enough for him to understand.
“This program is a terrible idea, I’ve told you!” The shout was accompanied with a slamming noise.
“We are running out of Angels as we are running out of options.” A less aggressive but still loud response echoed.
“They are not Angels yet. Good God above- half of them haven’t even chosen a name yet!”
“Then they will earn it.”
“You are a deplorable and cruel being.”
The last sentence was spoken with a venom that lead to Techno unconsciously hesitating at the door. He disregarded it and entered, hoping to cut off any further disagreements.
Once in the room the Generals and the Admiral fell silent. They gave him a dumbfounded stare and Techno questioned if he was in the wrong room.
“No, you just.. caught us at an odd time.” General Dusana reassured.
Strangely enough for her kind and composed demeanor, Technoblade recognized her voice as one of the ones shouting.
“What is this about anyway?” Techno gestured between himself and the group.
“Am I wanted or something?”
The Admiral chuckled. “No, truthfully you should be, we know about every incident.”
“I figured.” Techno slumped into a seat across from the leaders.
“Sooooooo, you just wanted to chat or…”
Lucas gritted his teeth at every remark Techno made. Most likely not trusting himself to speak.
“We would like to approach you with a job offer.” Admiral Alaric spoke.
“Why so elusive about it then? You could’ve just sent me a letter or something.”
“We… are aware that.. umm.” Dusana twiddled her thumbs together. “You have a habit of disappearing.”
“It’s not a habit it’s a hobby-“
Alaric cleared his throat and looked at Techno as a principle would a delinquent child. Techno sat up straighter, unafraid of whatever power move the Admiral was about to play.
“We need to send more soldiers to the front lines.”
“I’m. Retired.” Techno growled out.
“We know. That’s why we would like you to train new soldiers instead.” Dusana’s gaze was polite and respectful, but Techno sensed he didn’t have much say in the matter.
“What if I decline?”
“You’ve been outside of Heaven before.” Lucas smiled. “I’m sure you remember the voices out there.”
Technoblade felt cold run through his veins for a moment.
Beyond the gates of Heaven, the darkness was not a walk in the park. The only reason Techno and Lucas returned with their sanity was because they had one another. The shadows liked to say things…
Be things…
The visions and voices were enough to easily send the most stable person spiraling into madness. They’d seen it happen before and, if Techno went out there alone, it would happen again.
“So, what, I accept the job or I’m sentenced to death?”
“Not sentenced to death. Just no longer welcome within Heaven.” Lucas sneered.
Dusana and Alaric looked at each other with discomfort. To try and ease the tension Dusana offered an alternate viewpoint.
“Technoblade, our young generation of warriors are about to face the most terrible threat we’ve ever seen. It’s a very dangerous time for them. But you have skill and knowledge that could help them survive it. Please, help us give them a better chance.”
“Their best chance would be to not send them out.” Techno snapped.
“Oh and I suppose that THING out there will just let us all live?? What happens when it’s no longer being held at bay?” Lucas stood an slammed his hands on the table.
Techno matched his position. “Stop pretending like your troops are doing anything. You saw that thing! It took out half the camp before I could even pick up a sword- if it wanted Heaven gone, we’d be dead already.”
The two glared at one another for some time. Eventually Lucas pushed his chair back and approached Techno.
“GENERAL, STAND DOWN.” Alaric was seething.
Lucas came to a stop right in front of Techno.
“Both of you, sit.” The Admirals words were sharp. Techno figured it was in his best interest to obey.
“Technoblade, you start in a week by Mortal time. We will send a Soldier to pick you up when training begins.”
“So you admit I don’t have a say.”
Alaric ignored Technos remark and continued. “You are also being placed under town arrest.”
“What??” Techno stood up again, Lucas immediately matching his stance.
This time Alaric stood up as well. “SIT DOWN BOTH OF YOU.”
Techno and Lucas begrudgingly sat.
“You have no say because you are part of this community now Technoblade whether you like it or not. Being part of things means you must be included in them.”
“So you’re gonna hold me hostage?? Until I do your bidding like everyone else around here- fuck it, I KNEW I was right when I first walked in.” Techno didn’t wait for a response, storming out of the room.
God, Techno hated attachment. He’d been completely right about Heaven having a corrupt system, but attachments made him weak. Techno couldn’t bring himself to kill the soldiers that were once his friends. He’d have to just find another way out.
‘Not like that stopped you before’ the eerie echoes burned in the back of his mind.
“That was different.” Techno murmured.
But the voices didn’t think so. Vivid images of Tommy’s bleeding and broken body seared his vision. The festival coated in blood and fire as screams of terror rang through the air.
His arrow pointed at Tubbo, and the look Tommy gave him for it. Worse yet, Jschlatt’s look of approval.
No, he would never be that again.
“Town arrest-“ Techno scoffed, furiously walking to the second nearest portal.
Lucas knew him too well. He’d know Techno would try to leave, so guards would already be at the closest portal. And Techno can’t beat flying angels to the farthest portal. So he settled for the middle-ground.
He was leaving one way or another, even if he had to level a section of Heaven to do it.
Techno walked into the large open chamber but stopped before entering the portal.
‘Why’ a voice taunted from a distance.
‘We need you- please’
.
“YOU USED ME.” Techno yelled across the battlefield.
“I thought we were in this together!” Tommy cried out, dodging a Wither attack.
“No Tommy, you used me! That’s all people like you and Wilbur do! You just use everyone for what they can do for YOU!”
“It’s called HELPING- you were help-!!” Tommy was cut off by an explosion that threw him to the ground.
“What about when I needed help?!” Techno paused at an unexpected waver in his voice.
“I begged you not to repeat this, not to continue the cycle of history, not to fall into whatever consumed Wilbur.”
Tommy unwillingly sobbed as he stood up, blood covered practically half of his body.
“We were making a land of peace!!”
“AND YOU BUILT IT ON A MOUNTAIN OF BODIES, TOMMY. Don’t you see that?! Don’t you see history repeating itself?”
While they were arguing, Tubbo had found an unattended crossbow. Wounded and fairly certain he was dying, his last thought was to make sure Tommy didn’t join him. So he took aim and fired.
Techno had stupidly let his guard down while talking to Tommy. A mistake that costed him.
The explosive-laced arrow found its target right in front of Technoblade.
.
Techno hesitated.
But why?
He couldn’t think of a single reason for him to stay, especially after the crap the supposed Leaders had just pulled.
In the back of his mind the voices chittered incoherent nonsense. Slowly they grew louder the longer he lingered in the portals glow.
Desperately he strained to listen to what they were saying. It was all to quiet and fast though, too many speaking over one another, too much commotion.
Then they fell into unison,
‘Look out’.
