Moment in a Storm

“Quiet a rager out there, haven’t seen a storm this bad in a while,” Chance said looking out the window of the garage where nothing was visible but a curtain of rain and the occasional flash of lightening. “What do you want to bet that even with all this some psycho will still attack the city or that old woman will be calling demanding we come tow her?”

“Fifty-fifty either way,” he said from the couch hoping that neither would occur he wasn’t really in the mood. “If it has to be one I’d rather it be the old lady trying to navigate the Turbokat in this would be nearly impossible.” He sighed to himself at the rather bad memory. “You know nights like this when we have to go up it reminds me of the dimensional radar still sitting in our failed junk pile.”

“Don’t remind me,” Chance said shaking his head. “I still have nightmares about that whole trip and I’d reallyprefer to never have to think about it again.” Chance went back to staring out the window at the rain. He could understand the desire not to talk or think about it but he couldn’t help it some times he did.

“Your not ever curious about that other world,” He said and Chance shook his head, “I am some times I wonder how those other Swat Kats and Callie ended up that way when everyone else seemed to be the same.” He then had a thought, “Plus I wonder some times if they were together like we are?”

“It’s like comic books Jake,” Chance said turning back toward him. “Alternate worlds that are different like good guys who are bad are just the norm it doesn’t mean anything.” He said walking over and sitting down next to him on the couch. “It’s just the way things go in alternate universes.”

“Multiverse Theory according to comic books,” he said and Chance just laughed and leaned back and laughed right and before either could say anything more their was a massive boom of thunder and the lights flickered. “Better get up and get a flash light, I don’t think the power is going to stay on much longer.”

“No need we can navigate this place in he dark pretty easily,” Chance said just leaning back on the couch. “So there really isn’t any need to go running around grabbing flashlights and other things for no reason, besides the lights might not even go out.”

Almost predictably the lights promptly went out with the next crash of thunder and for somre reason he couldn’t help but laugh. “You just had to say that didn’t you, Chance,” he said and then Chance was on him kissing him.

“I don’t know about you buddy but I don’t mind a little darkness,” Chance said in a husky tone of voice. “Sometimes navigating by feel can make things a lot more fun, don’t ya think?” He just laughed and pulled chance back into a kiss. There was really no point to sitting in the dark talking when there were so many funner things to do.
