Chapter Text
Katsuki was eating lunch by herself, she ignored the heated stares of the entire cafeteria. She could feel the angry gazes from her former friends. She looked up and met eyes with Kirishima. He looked at her wide eyes, full of hurt, before he narrowed them again and looked away. Him turning on her hurt the most.
Katsuki went to take another bite of her lunch when she seen a flash of orange and then there was another girl sitting next to her.
She dropped her chopsticks when she realized one of the girls from class 2B was sitting next to her. It was the girl with the big hands, Kendou.
Katsuki narrowed her eyes and snarled, "What do you want Hands?"
Kendou gave her a look, like she was examining her. "Did you really tell Midoriya to kill himself?"
Katsuki felt her body tense. She had heard this question several times over the last week.
- A week prior
Katsuki walked into the common room with Deku in tow. He wouldn't leave her alone and she was on her last nerve. "Kacchan, let me train with you. All Might says we need to keep training together."
Katsuki whirled around, "I told you fucking no Deku. I'm sparring with Kirishima today. Fuck off and leave me alone."
She kept walking until she heard the bastard clear his throat, "Kacchan. You wouldn't want me to tell everyone now would you?"
Katsuki felt the air leave her body. The little fucker hadn't used that to threaten her in months. Why now? She turned around to face him and balled up her fist. Nobody knew Deku like she did. How manipulative he could be. How mean he could be. "You wouldn't fucking dare."
Deku smiled at her, a smile that always made her uncomfortable. "I've done it once before and I'll do it again. You know how this works. Now be a good boy and tell Kirishima you're training with me instead."
Katsuki snarled. "Fuck you. You know damn well I'm not a guy."
Deku continued to smile at her, "I may know that, and unless you want me to tell the others the big bad Kacchan is really a timid girl, you will do what I say."
She stepped forward until their noses were touching. "You know what, tell them. I don't fucking care anymore. You've done it once so do it again. I actually have friends that care about me this time. Besides It's better than dealing with you."
Deku frowned, "Now that's not how our little game is supposed to go."
Katsuki smirked, "Go fuck yourself Deku."
Later that evening Katsuki came downstairs to prepare dinner for herself and her band of five idiots. Nobody had said anything to her so Deku was either bluffing or he hadn't said anything. She was going to come clean over dinner anyway. She was going to tell them all she was a girl. She wanted them to hear it from her. She was just ready to be herself around them anyway. She wanted to be Katsuki around her friends. She wanted them to know the real her.
That's when she noticed every single one of her classmates were in the common room surrounding someone. She seen that it was Deku and that he was crying. Oh what was the nerd crying over now?
Everyone turned to glare at her and she stopped in her tracks. Mina was angrily wiping tears away from her eyes. Sero was glaring at her. Kaminari and Jirou wouldn't look at her. Then there was Kirishima. He looked at her and she seen hurt on his face. He looked at her, a mix of hope and fear mixing in his eyes. "Did.. did you tell Midoriya to kill himself in middle school?"
Katsuki felt like she had been punched by All Might at a hundred percent. This is the route Deku was going? She didn't want to be under his thumb anymore so this is what he was going to do?
She wasn't going to lie to them. She just hoped one of them would ask her why. She'd come clean to all of them. She'd tell them everything if they just asked her why. "Yeah."
She seen the looks of hurt and disgust pass by on all of their faces.
Nobody asked her anything.
Kirishima wiped at his eyes. "You're a monster dude."
Katsuki sighed as she turned around, tossing a, "I know" over her shoulder.
- Present day
Katsuki looked at Kendou straight in the eyes, "Yeah, I did."
Kendou stared straight back at her. "Why?"
Katsuki felt her eyes widen in shock. "What?"
Kendou continued to stare at her. "I asked you why you said that to him? There has to be a reason. Nobody says something like that just to say it."
Katsuki sat back in her seat. "Nobody has ever asked me that before."
"Well I am, so why?" Kendou had a determined look on her face.
Katsuki sat there and debated what she should do. Should she tell Kendou the truth? By doing that, she's laying everything out on the table. Someone will know about her. They'll know everything.
What did she have to lose though? Her entire group of friends and class turned on her. Other students avoided her like the plague because word had spread. Teachers gave her dirty looks, the only teacher who seemed unphased was Aizawa. Every other teacher let the other kids talk about her and throw things at her. They let them try to trip her or shoulder check her.
She had nothing to lose.
Katsuki took a deep breath. "Listen up because it's a shitty story."
- Seven years earlier when Katsuki was ten years old
Izuku knocked on the door to the Bakugou's residence. Mitsuki opened the door with a smile and let him in. "Katsuki's upstairs Izuku. Make sure you knock before you enter, okay?"
Izuku nodded as he made his way up the stairs. He reached the door labeled Katsuki and just walked in instead of knocking.
Katsuki whirled around. She was wearing a fluffy pink skirt and a white sweater and she was in the middle of doing her makeup. "Izuku! You're supposed to knock, I know my mom told you."
Izuku just stood there taking his best friend in.
Katsuki rolled her eyes. "I'm a girl. I'm not a boy, but you can't tell anyone else. You got it? Nobody but my mom and dad know."
He smiled, "Okay Kacchan. I won't tell anyone."
A year passed before Katsuki would hear Izuku utter the phrase, "Do this or I'll tell everyone your secret."
Whenever she didn't want to hang out with Izuku or she was busy and she told him no, he would look at her and smile and use the threat that if she didn't, he would tell people she was secretly a girl. She wasn't ready for others to know yet so she followed along with what he wanted until one day in their first year in middle school.
It all became too much and Katsuki lost her composure. She was tired of being threatened and bossed around. "Izuku. I'm done. I don't care if you tell anyone anymore." She didn't think he would actually do anything. She thought he was all talk.
The next day when she walked into school though, everyone pointed and laughed at her. There were pictures going around of her in dresses and skirts and other things that she didn't even know Izuku had pictures of.
Izuku walked in and smiled at her. "I told you Kacchan."
She balled up her fist to keep the explosions away. "You.. fucking Deku."
Before she could lunge at him, their teacher walked in and broke everything up.
She was made fun of and attacked constantly for the next year and Deku had the audacity to act like he hadn't done anything. He would always look at her and smile. "Maybe next time you'll listen to me Kacchan."
Until one day she couldn't take it all anymore. She was tired of everything and it all came back to Deku. Just because she wouldn't be his puppet, so he made her life hell.
One day she lashed out and fought a bunch of people. She hurt them. She looked at Deku, ready to pounce on him next, "Make my life easier and do me a favor, jump off a roof." She was then yanked away by a teacher. She didn't regret her actions or her words. What she said was wrong but so had everything Deku had done to her.
An eye for an eye may make the whole world go blind but that was a risk she was willing to take. She was tired of being everyone's target.
- Present day
Katsuki felt her hands shaking slightly from reliving her past.
Kendou was giving her a sympathetic look. "What you said was extreme and too far but what Midoriya did was too. You were blackmailed, outed, and bullied for just being yourself. You had a right to be angry."
Katsuki bared her teeth, "Why does it matter to you Hands?"
Kendou looked behind her to her group of former friends. Katsuki could feel their gazes boring into the side of her head. "Your friends didn't give you the opportunity to tell your side of the story. They immediately took Midoriya's side didn't they?"
Katsuki harshly nodded. Kendou continued, "That's not fair to you. You're being treated unfairly. Nobody outside of your class comes near you. The only time I see your class near you is when they're being mean to you. I see your former friends trip you in the hallways. It's not fair. That's why it matters to me."
She looked over at Kendou, "Why do you even believe me?"
Kendou gave her a gentle smile. "I can see it in your eyes that you're telling the truth. You're trans and your life was made to be hell because of it, right?"
Katsuki nodded, "Yeah."
Kendou shrugged her shoulders. "It's as simple as that. I believe you. Nobody lies about that kind of thing."
Kendou continued to look at her. "What's your name or do you still go by Bakugou?"
She smiled a little, "I go by Katsuki."
Kendou smiled a little too, "She and her pronouns?"
Katsuki felt her smile get bigger, "Yeah."
Kendou gave her a gentle look, "Do you want to come hang out with 2B? The class will accept you, I promise."
Katsuki frowned, "Won't they just treat me like a monster just like everyone else does? Why would they listen or care?"
"Do you feel like showing them who you really are? If you do, I guarantee they will have your back. They'll understand. 2B know when someone is being treated unfairly and unlike your class, we can keep secrets. Whatever you tell them will stay in the class. Monoma is a lot of things but even he doesn't spread secrets." Kendou was giving her a small smile again.
Did Katsuki really want to come out to a whole class of people she really didn't know? Could she really trust them? Kendou seemed trustworthy but what about the rest of them? She didn't have a whole lot to lose though. If they didn't believe her or they made fun of her, she would still be in the same boat she already was. She couldn't lose anyone, she could only gain them.
Katsuki nodded, "Okay, I'll hang out with you guys. I'll tell them everything."
Kendou grinned, "Lunch is about to end but after classes are over today, swing by the 2B dorms. I usually answer the door but if it's not me, tell whoever that Kendou sent you. They'll let you in."
Katsuki felt a hand on top of her own. She looked over to see Kendou resting her hand on hers. "We'll accept you Katsuki. I promise."
The bell rang signalling the end of lunch. Kendou waved bye to her before she walked off. Katsuki grabbed her trash and left the table feeing lighter than she had in the last week.
She walked by her former friends and for the first time in a week, their angry stares didn't hurt as much.
It didn't change the fact that she missed them. She missed them a lot but they had made their decision. They were supposed to be her friends and they didn't even try to figure why she said what she said. They just left her alone. They just started treating her like a monster. Like a villain.
It hurt her more than she would ever admit.
Hopefully class 2B would be different.
Hopefully they would understand.
