Drunk-Dazed
‘You’re invited to our bloody birthday party
Sometimes, walking down the deadly path
Without fleeing from death itself
Can give rise to the most wondrous creatures
We Hope you will be able to come…’
The Night is silent, calm. You could think it is too calm. A Quiet night that makes your body shiver. But no worries, just some houses down the street, in the expensive neighborhood where more the rich millionaires and upper-class people live, is a house party. More like a mansion party, since the house feels like a castle itself. It is the birthday party of the family Yang’s only son. His friends and himself organized it. It should be a night that will never be forgotten. No matter how it turns out.
The Party itself is already ongoing with teenagers dancing around in the middle of the Living room. A boy with black hair who is around 18 or 19 makes his way from the front door through the corridor to the Living room, greeting people left and right. Loud music blasts through the speakers, red LEDs light up the room and the atmosphere is just too good to be true. Feeling the presence of his friend the young boy turns around and greets his friend, who is leaning against the wall, with a smile and a handshake. “You finally made it Jay, we thought you would not come”, his friend says, leading him to the others. “You have the wrong idea of me, Heesung”, Jay laughs and so does Heesung.
Four boys greet Jay as Heesung and he walks in their direction. “Are you ready?”, a boy with white hair says. “This party is gonna be lit”, another one with the name Jake says. “Riki brought the cake, the only person missing is the birthday boy”, Sunghoon a boy with pitch-black hair continues. Riki, the youngest of their friend group, stands in front of Jake holding a cake with candles on it. Jake does movement with his hand over the candles. It feels like Jungwon heard them calling for him and appeared out of nowhere in front of the cake to blow out the candle, wishing for his wishes to come true. He couldn’t ask for more, his friends celebrating his birthday with him. Just like they always did. He just wants to stay with them and replay this night forever.
Throughout the night the boys have fun, party with everyone, dance, and drink. They don’t notice Sunoo disappearing for a moment to prepare some more drinks. Only Riki follows him. It feels like he is guarding Sunoo, so no one notices how he gets the drinks or what he does in the drinks. Riki moves up and down in front of the door. His movements aren’t normal though. He doesn’t walk. He more likely teleports from one side of the door to the other and then...
…He stands right in front of me and everything goes black, the only thing”, The voice of the girl is shaky and quiet. It is more of a whisper than an actual normal saying.
“You don’t remember anything from that on?”, The police officer asks nicely, leaning closer over the table. The room has dark walls but the light of the lamp from above makes the room seem bright and hurting in the eyes. The girl with the black hair looks at the table, trying to avoid eye contact.
“No… except I remember his smile and Sunoo pouring a red liquid from his wrist into the water…”, The Officer is about to lose his patience with the young girl. He is here for over 2 hours trying to find out what happened on that night of the party. Rubbing his eyes his voice breaks the silence in the room, “Who’s smile are you talking about? Sunoo’s? or Riki’s?”
“Jungwon’s smile, when he smiles in that right angle… That devilish smile…”, she starts but stops suddenly signing the officer to come closer and he does, “You can see his fangs…”
The officer blinks twice and stares into the girl’s eyes. “Do you think this is a joke?” He slams his hand on the table. “A person died that night and you wanna tell me that these 7 boys are vampires?” The loud bang scares the girl and makes her jump. “I am telling the truth!” the girl raises her voice and stands up from the chair, “Isn’t the invitation proof that the party happened!?” The girl is getting increasingly hysterical after the officer tries to explain that it isn’t enough evidence for murder. The way the police found the girl in a room full of blood, the victim’s body not even too far away from the girl, and no witnesses, doesn’t make it look too good for the black-haired girl. The girl gets taken away.
The eyes of the officer look over to the black envelope on the table that says ‘An Invitation to our bloody Birthday party’. Taking the Invitation into his hands and pulling out the paper. His eyes fly over the paper. ‘Give rise to wonderous creatures’. Being stuck with this particular sentence, make his body shiver. Fangs, a room full of blood, a corpse, and a girl in an empty, abandoned house with her claiming to be invited to a birthday party. The Fact that the Paper of the Invitation is signed with blood doesn’t make the situation better.
Maybe the girl was right…
Maybe but only maybe, she was right about the Fangs glowing red
And the sweet, addicting scent of the red liquid in the drink.
