Shouto is in love.
Not many people knew this. But shit, if you really paid attention and knew the signs, it was clear as day that Shouto was in love.
And he was suffering. We’ve all… well, a lot of us have been through the basic: “Oh, I have a crush on ___ but they’re dating ___. I lost my shot…”
But Shouto’s situation is a bit different. He’s in love with two people.
Who have been together for five years now.
And shit, if that ain’t a stab to the heart. Multiple times.
(Shouto should get tips from Katsuki on how to mend a broken heart, huh?)
Today was specifically bad for Shouto. Another infamous BakuDeku date night!
And Izuku asked Shouto to help him plan it. Ouch.
Shouto could never say no to Izuku. Or Katsuki for that matter. Doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt him inside a little, though.
So, this was how Shouto decided to spend his night. In a grocery store with a cart filled with various snacks, drinks, and other miscellaneous things.
“Shou-chan! Do you think Kacchan will like these?” Izuku asked.
Shouto turned his head to see Izuku running over to him with a bag of spicy chips. He looked down to the chips and read the brand, a confused frown settled on his lips.
“Izu, you already know those are his favorites,” Shouto said.
Izuku’s eyes widened in excitement before he looked sheepish as he put the bag in the cart.
“Right… sorry,” Izuku muttered.
Shouto looked Izuku over, still confused on why Izuku asked him if Katsuki would like the chips. Those were the only brand and flavor of chips that Katsuki would eat. He was just so confused and just wanted to go home and sleep for ten years. He was so uncomfortable, trying to keep down the pain in his chest knowing he can’t be with them, but he pushed through.
“Is there anything else you want to get, or is this enough for the night?” Shouto asked.
They both looked down at the filled cart. Izuku laughed while Shouto looked to him for an answer.
“Uhm, yeah. I think this is good enough… maybe too much…” Izuku said, mumbling at the end.
Shouto nodded and started to move the cart down the aisle. The feeling in his chest was getting worse every minute it got closer to six, he needed to leave soon.
He was a few feet away when he heard something that made him tense up and quickly turn to look at Izuku with widened eyes.
“Oh princess,” Izuku whispered.
Izuku got startled when the cart ended up crashing into the shelves and a few items fell to the ground.
Shouto stares at Izuku as he walks over, concern all over his face.
“Shouto? Are you okay?” Izuku asked.
Izuku puts the items back on the shelf and moves to touch Shouto’s arm but Shouto flinches back.
“Fuck- here,” Shouto hurried, panicking. His thoughts were already getting to his head. His chest was ten times worse and he could already feel the stinging in his eyes.
Shouto hastily pulls out his wallet and hands Izuku a few hundreds before stepping away.
“I gotta go,” Shouto said. He quickly turned and started to speed walk to the front doors of the store. It was only a few seconds but Shouto soon heard Izuku’s heavy footsteps getting closer and more frantic.
“Shouto!” Izuku called.
Izuku ran after Shouto, abandoning the cart. He follows Shouto outside and is about to grab Shouto’s arm but Shouto moved his hand, shooting ice back towards Izuku.
He didn’t plan on hitting Izuku with the ice, but the ice glues his shoe to the ground and Izuku can’t move unless he uses his quirk.
“Did I do somethin- fuck this is cold. Shouto! Wait!” Izuku yelled. He desperately tried to pull his leg out of the ice but it was no use. He would have to use his quirk, but he couldn’t focus on Shouto’s retreating form and making sure there wasn’t anyone around at the same time.
Izuku looked down at his leg again and tried to pull it free but to no avail. When Izuku finally looked back up, there was no sign of Shouto anywhere.
So yeah, not a fun time for Shouto.
He ended up going to his agency's gym and using a punching bag until well into the morning. He had to basically claw his way to the locker rooms after he was finally exhausted and bruised enough. He sat down on the bench and that was the last thing he remembered.
He somehow woke up in his bed in his apartment, no recollection on how he ended up there. After he finally woke up some more and could actually think straight, Shouto sighed as what him waking up in bed meant. Izuku and Katsuki were the only ones with spare keys to his apartment. They had to have found him in the locker room and brought him there.
Right now, Shouto was content.
He was on a minor patrol. Only half an hour left and then he could go home.
Life was good.
Until it wasn’t.
“Section B-8 requesting backup! A villain is causing a scene in the downtown area! Any heroes available right now, please come help!”
“Fucking perfect.” Shouto thought to himself.
“This is Hero Shouto, I’m about five blocks from the scene. Making my way down now,” Shouto said into the comm.
He activated his ice and slid down the street, weaving through the traffic of cars.
“This is Dynamight with Deku right beside me. We’re making our way up the street to the scene!”
“Damnit, no!” Shouto yelled in his head.
Luck was not on his side lately.
Shouto got to the scene fairly quick and accessed the scene. A few shop windows were broken, jewelry scattered on the ground in a few places, and a villain in the middle of the street with a bag most likely filled with jewelry.
Should be an easy take down. But of course it isn’t.
“What’s the damage, Shouto?” Izuku said as he and Katsuki landed on either side of Shouto.
Shouto looked at the two and slightly curled in on himself.
“Um, it looks like a robbery. No one was injured, I think. Broken glass and jewelry are everywhere. Don’t know this dude's quirk,” Shouto explained.
Quick and to the point. Nothing extra like he usually did when working with the other two.
“Fine then. ‘Zu, go deal with the civilians,” Katsuki said.
Izuku nodded and hopped away.
“Let’s beat some ass, Princess,” Katsuki said.
Pause.
Well this isn’t good.
This is really not good.
Shouto felt his throat tighten up and his hands get sweaty. He couldn’t breathe properly and his eyes started to lose focus.
That familiar, uncomfortable feeling in his chest attacked him full force.
He wanted to- no. He needed to get away.
And soon.
Or else this will turn out bad. Really bad.
Resume.
“Fuck,” Shouto said, his eyes watering. Katsuki became concerned and looked over to Shouto.
“What’s wr-”
Shouto shot ice out at the villain, and a block was formed around the villain’s head.
The villain fell to the ground, immediately unconscious from the weight of the ice.
Katsuki looked over at the villain before becoming even more concerned.
“Shouto? You okay?” Katsuki asked.
Shouto didn’t respond. He couldn’t if he tried.
His throat felt like it wouldn't open up again for a long time.
He couldn’t breathe and he didn’t like it.
So he fled.
He ran.
Didn’t look back.
“Shouto! What the fuck!” Katsuki yelled before taking off after Shouto. He got maybe a few feet behind Shouto before Shouto turned and shot ice at him.
Shouto has a habit of icing people to the ground and making them unable to move, apparently.
Katsuki cursed as he was stuck to the ground. It would take at least a few good explosions just to get his shoes out of the ice. A few more to get all of the ice off.
Perfect way for Shouto to get away. Which… is good for him.
Not so good for Izuku and Katsuki.
Shouto ran all the way to his apartment, which was fifteen blocks away, and locked himself in his apartment that night.
His breathing got worse, his vision was getting spotty and his chest hurt him so much. He couldn’t keep doing this. He was gonna end up dead at this point if he didn’t get rid of his stupid feelings for two people who would never accept him.
Shouto doesn’t even think it was five minutes of him being in his apartment before fists were banging against his front door, right behind him. This startled him even more, making him worse, and he curled into a ball on the floor. He could hear Katsuki yelling through the door but there was no way in hell he would open the door.
It was no surprise to Shouto that Izuku was there as well. He could hear him trying to get Katsuki away from the door and to not be so loud because he was disrupting the neighbors.
The voices were much louder that night.
Wouldn’t leave poor Shouto alone.
It felt like torture.
One voice was the loudest, though.
While the others would yell for a bit before dying out, this one remained the main headache for the night.
Over and over it just screamed the same shit.
“I want to be their princess.”
