Chapter Text
“Um…what?”
Xavier’s arm was held out in front of the pastel wolf as she stared at him rather annoyed that he wouldn’t stop pestering her roommate.
“This letter give it to Wednesday. I think she’s finally letting her walls down for me.” The emo artist explained as he insistently waved the black wax sealed envelop towards Enid. “She didn’t burn or rip the ones I gave her this morning and I believe she’ll actually open this one if you hand it to her for me.”
Enid’s face scrunched with an uncomfortable displeasure as she took the dark letter, placing it under her lunch tray as she slid along the moving line. Xavier gave her a nod, his steps receding towards the table where the other NightShade members proudly sat.
The coming weekend was suppose to be some anniversary party that everyone was talking about.
As much as Enid enjoyed fresh gossip for her blog, there wasn’t anything happening that she didn’t already know and Yoko will probably text her as everything happens anyway so she made plans to stay in her dorm.
It was suppose to be a peaceful Saturday night, her and Thing getting their manicures done while Wednesday typed the next arc to her viper series…but….
Her claws flexed subconsciously as she tightened against her styrofoam tray, a resounding snap followed by a few stares in the line from her peers as some began stepping away to give her space.
Enid gave the lunch lady an embarrassed smile before scanning her card.
Her mint blue eyes staring longingly at the raven already seated at their designated table, nose deep in some morbid literature about lobotomy and asylums.
The black letter felt like a death sentence the more she thought about it.
Which she shouldn’t cause she shouldn’t block her bestie from dating even if she had some…unresolved feelings after the whole Hyde fiasco.
But if she wasn’t gonna shoot her shot or dump Ajax then there was no use beating around the bush, no matter how much support Yoko gave her to confess.
“You’re late,” Wednesdays voice cut through as her clouded thoughts as she nearly dropped her tray before it even touched the table. “Low stock on the steaks again?”
Enid just nodded in agreement, her eyes unable to meet the ravens piecing gaze as she began poking her cold food.
Wednesday had opened up a bit more from her usual stoic self, a teasing jab thrown once in a while, or at least that’s what Enid believed.
The pastel wolf took a couple spoon fulls into her mouth unbothered before she felt a light tap against her shoe.
An annoyed glare pushed at the artist, his eyes and fake cough were making it obvious to the whole table something was up. Thankfully Bianca’s story about her latest date with Lucas held everyone’s attention from the two kicking each other under the table.
Enid huffed as she lifted her tray discreetly, the pristine envelope glittering against her digits as she contemplated ripping it to shreds with her neon rainbow claws, the ability to never allow the confession of Xavier’s words to grace someone as amazingly gorgeous as the raven beside her was tempting…
The werewolf pressed a single claw at the wax seal, slicing the letter open before purposely dropping it against the pages the young Addams was reading.
Instead of verbalizing a threat to the bubbly roommate, Wednesday paused as she watched the forced smile plastered on Enid’s crestfallen face. A watery sadness masked perfectly to anyone but her who had grown to read Enid’s tells.
A facade that she had witness more than she liked to think about with how quickly it made her blood boil. She had assumed this was something in reference to the pink wolfs mother trying to threaten her again but no.
Wednesday turnt the dark letter in place over the pages she was reading to shield it from any nosy gazes, unfolding it as it lengthened, her brows furrowing at the typed words that didn’t meet her assumption,
“My raven,
I have spent too long desiring your company at night. The cold persona you play against me doesn’t deter my will and I believe you know it too. Stop denying my attention and see me as your rightful equal.
Waiting for you to be mine,
yours truly”
Wednesday blinked in confusion, rereading the page to make sure she didn’t just imagine everything happening.
Her dark brown eyes trailing over to meet Enid’s side glances, the distracted pup forking the sides of her mashed potatoes into a tower before noticing she had been caught.
Her words falling as a mumbled, sorry, when she realized how close she actually was perched near the raven to read off the letter.
“e qui stavo pensando che non l'avresti mai detto prima.” (and here i was thinking you would never say it first.)
Enid’s brows etched into confusion at the language of the words spoken, watching Wednesday refold the letter, leaving it as a bookmark in between the now shut pages.
“Uh, Willa I don’t speak-“
The unsaid response of words never left her as her brain froze, the dark Addams drawing her hands, one grasping the spine of the novel as the other gripped Enid’s lower chin, tilting her head back as she leaned foreword.
Enid gawked dumbly as Wednesday pulled away from the fleeting peck against her lips, the smudge of maroon lipstick stamped on her like a claimed prize.
The sirens voice bursted their private bubble, “Was my story really that bad you had to start making out with your roommate, Addams?”
Enid’s blush burning a dangerously close shade at her cheeks as Wednesday shot back her usually bored stare, her legs already carrying her away from the table as she replied,
“With the way you recite your narratives, jumping off a bridge would be more entertaining. However, they have nothing to do with me giving my paramour displays of affection.”
