Work Text:
Vibri jumped over a block, and another block and another block. Her only reward was to change forms and recieve points. At least changing forms could feel nice. And gaining points felt nice.
Vibri hit a block and lost her crown and wings. It hurt, she wasn't sure if it hurt physically or emotionally. What could she feel, could she feel physical pain?
She ran into another block, just to assess how she felt. it's like her whole body becomes static for a second, like all of your limbs fall asleep, like you're falling and can't do anything.
Loop, block, spikes. Clearing these obstacles was a normal occurance, gaining points was as normal as such. It almost felt like she got a tiny bit of dophamine with each point.
There wasn't much to do on the ribbon, other than attempt to reach the end. And these small rewards and punishments were probably placed by an outside force to ensure she carries out her responsibility.
She liked the rewards, but the points and forms ultimately are nothing in the end. Nothing will every truly be permenant, she would lose the forms, reset pointa for new songs.
Well, she also meant that, everything will come to an end, and these things don't matter when you're gone.
There was music too, the music was her main motivator, something that could be new and exciting, something that provided new stimulation, something that gave her something to think about. As the years have gone by she's noticed how music has changed, and how music works at all.
Most of her time on the ribbon, she thought about music and the fundamentals and how it worked. Sometimes her thoughts would spiral into existentialism, but it makes sense to question your existance when all you do is dance across a line.
She hated having these thoughts, she wished that she could turn her brain off and wake up when it's all over and she's at the end. She wished that she had something else to do, maybe she could possibly sing herself.
She almost never gets to. Sing that is.
She spends all this time listening to great singers and musicians, why can't she be one herself? Why can't she even be a simple member of an orchestra playing a timpani drum? Why can't she even sing?
She envied the dismembered voices and instruments.
How did she know what an orchestra was? Well some songs would detail the joys of playing music with others. And some would detail the 'orchestras' that people, called 'humans' would play in.
She's listened to endless languages and endless lyrics that detail what it's like outside of the ribbon. Maybe if she reached the end she could become one of them, one of the people who were free.
What was 'heartbreak' like? What was 'joy', what was 'fear' what was 'anger' and why didn't she get the experience these hersf?
It's almost like she can't feel at all. Of course she can't, she's just a computer generated image.
Computers can't feel.
Vibri can't feel.
