Work Text:
I spent so much time,
Living in the dark with you.
That I did not realize,
You had your own sun,
And mine was you.
But you gave off no heat,
Only light.
I was captured by your brilliance,
Not realizing I was frozen in place.
Until eons passed with me starving,
Thinking I simply wanted too much.
But Mercury is too hot.
And Pluto is too cold.
And you were not the Earth for me.
You were the moon.
A reflection of the sun with no heat.
But I do not hate the Moon,
For not being the Sun.
For the Moon is simply the moon.
And it did not need me,
Nor have enough to nourish me.
So, I must be a comet, burning brightly and moving quickly.
Searching for my landing,
A place with a gravity that pulls me in,
With their desire for me.
A place teeming with life, and warmth.
I yearn for it,
And I BURN for it.
Will I burn out before I find it?
I do not know.
But my fire will be enough for me,
While I set course across the cosmos,
Dreaming of my impact,
Into a heart that will consume me,
For who I am.
