"Esme?" Alex calls her daughter, who’s sitting at the coffee table; childishly giggling at something.
She smiles at how cute Esme looks but frowns her brow a bit, not understanding what her daughter finds so funny.
"What's it, sweetie?"
Esme has her eyes closed and a look of concentration on her face, like she’s listening to something, or rather someone — which she probably was given her super hearing.
"Did you know aunt Kara is Lena's father?"
Alex’s smile falters instantly when she hears that, knowing just what her child is listening to. Her eyes widen and she looks at the stairs in anger. She goes upstairs to the bedroom Kara and Lena are staying at and knocks on the door to get their attention, but not intending to come in.
“You kinky fucks better watch it while my child is home! I’m warning you!”
A few seconds go by until Kara’s guilty voice comes from inside the room.
“Sorry.”
Alex just rolls her eyes and starts making her way back downstairs when she hears her daughter giggling again downstairs and she goes back there and all but bangs the door.
“I’m warning you, Kara!”
“Hey, it’s Lena, not me!” Is all Alex hears from her sister before they go quiet.
She goes back downstairs and is about to go back to the kitchen to cook dinner when Esme asks her something that makes her blood boil.
“Mommy, what does “not getting any” means?” The child asks, confused.
And Alex takes a deeeeep breath.
