Chapter Text
“You cannot hurry tea, only have patience to get it right.”
The older woman, Mystake, walks back into the small room in the back of her tea shop, a piping hot cup of mysterious tea in hand.
All eyes were glued to the green ninja, laying flat on the table. A pained expression washed over his face yet again, although his eyes stayed snapped shut.
”You— I can’t- I—please-“ he mumbled, his hands trembled ever so slightly before resting back on table.
”Are you sure-“ Cole paused, taking a deep breath, “are you sure this will work? Will help him?”
Cole’s eyes shone with uncertainty as he stared at the old lady.
”It will heal his wounds,” she said calmly, “but-“ she stopped, looking at Lloyd.
“Ugh! There is always a but!” Kai said through his gritted teeth.
The old woman sighed, “It comes with a price.”
”Whatever it is, we will pay it!” Zane piped up.
“Not that kind of price, young man, but a price for you and your friends.” She placed a hand on Lloyd’s arm.
”For this, you must all place a hand on the young ninja. The tea with focus your elemental powers in order to heal him! But, it may use up all the power you have left.”
“Are you saying we could possibly lose our powers if we try and save him?” Jay’s brows furrowed with worry.
”Perhaps, perhaps not.” She said slowly.
Lloyd shifted uncomfortably again, groaning in pain.
”Do it.” Nya says, glancing at Lloyd with worry.
”W-Wait! We can’t just jump into decisions like this! I mean, our powers might just be the only thing we have left to defeat Garmadon!” Kai expressed, throwing his hands into the air.
“The decision needs to be unanimous.” Zane paused, “I will give up my powers to save Lloyd!” He laid his hand on top of Lloyd’s leg gently.
All the others followed suit except Kai.
Kai glanced at everyone, then back to Lloyd.
My powers are great… but Lloyd is more important. My brother.
He sighed, then proceeded to lay his hand on top of Lloyd’s left foot.
“Let’s do this.” Kai says, determination taking filling his voice.
Mystake slowly lowered the cup to the green ninja’s mouth, tilted his head up slightly, and poured the now cooled tea into his mouth.
Lloyd swallowed.
All at once, the spots under the ninjas hands started glowing their respective colors. Lloyd shifted under their touch, breathing more rapidly now.
For a moment his eyes snapped open, glowing an unnaturally bright green.
The worry on the others faces grew, watching their youngest brother struggle.
He let out a final pained cry, and then his eyes closed as quickly as they had opened.
He now laid still, his chest rising and falling slowly.
The ninja hesitantly removed their hands as they watched him.
”Now, we wait.”
Mystake walked back to the front of the shop, leaving the Ninja to watch over Lloyd.
A minute later she returned, a small white bag in hand.
”I have brought you something else,” she grinned cheekily, “to goooo.”
The old lady handed the bag to Nya, who shot her a suspicious look.
“In your time of need,” The woman smiled,” use it—to gooo.” She slunk back behind the beads that covered the doorway.
“Um, okay?” Nya tucked the bag into the pocket of her gi, and then settled onto the small bench in the corner of the room.
——————————————————————
About two hours had now passed.
Kai lifted his hand, closing his eyes in concentration as he attempted to start even a small flame.
He looked back at his hand, which was still empty.
“I guess our powers are gone now…” He rested his head back against the wooden chair he was sitting on.
Zane gingerly dabbed the cut on Lloyd’s forehead with an alcohol wipe.
“Be patient, Kai.” He said, turning his head slightly to look at him, “Maybe they will come back a bit later?”
”Hopefully.” Kai mumbled.
Nya walked back inside the room, sipping on a cup of water. “Let’s hope so, Lord Garmadon is stronger than ever and I’m not sure combat alone will suffice.”
All of a sudden, a large rumble shook the floor, causing Nya to drop the glass.
The siblings tossed each other a confused glance, and in a span of three seconds, Jay and Cole ran inside the room with the others.
”Um, did you guys feel that too?!” Jay shuddered, hands pressed against the wall in case of another shake.
“How could we not?!” Kai exclaimed, “is this some sort of earthquake or something?” He cast a suspicious glance at the Master of Earth.
The ground shook more violently this time, causing Kai to almost fall off his chair.
Zane protectively held a hand on top of Lloyd to prevent him from falling off the table.
“Woah! Wasn’t me!” Cole said, raising his hands up innocently.
Mystake burst into the room, startling the ninja a bit.
”You all might want to see this… I will watch the boy, go!”
The five rushed out of the small tea shop, only to be met with the dark sky.
They looked around,
“I don’t see anything unusual?” Zane said quietly.
“Yea-“ Nya started, but she was cut short as a loud bang echoed through the night.
The ninja focused their eyes to where the noise appeared to have come from.
To their surprise, a huge skyscraper tumbled to the ground, booming with impact.
“What could have caused THAT?!?” Jay shouted, panic rising in his voice.
Zane stared, ”Only a creature of great size could—“
A sharp purple glow from the distance stopped him from continuing. Whatever it was, it appeared to be high up, towering over the buildings of Ninjago city.
“We should probably go check that out- “
“I guess it’s just us five this time.” Cole sighed.
”But, what about Lloyd?” Nya asked quietly.
Before anyone could answer, A large machine landed in front of them. A mech.
”Don’t forget about me.” Pixal’s robotic voice boomed from the top of the mech.
”I’ll stay back with Lloyd, you guys GO!” Nya hurriedly shouted, looking at the four.
And with that, the four boys flipped their hoods over their heads and began running towards the creature, Pixal fired the rocket boosters of the mech and followed after them.
”and be safe..” Nya’s voice filled with concern dropped to a mere mutter as she watched them run off.
She quickly ran back inside to check on Lloyd.
——————————————————————
A boom echoed through the tea shop once again.
Nya sat quietly on a chair next to the table, gently holding Lloyd’s hand.
Her eyes focused on the clock that sat above the doorway, it had been about 20 minutes that the ninja set out to see what that creature was. She took a deep breath.
I hope they’re okay.
A small noise snapped her away from her thoughts. Her eyes quickly darted back to the Green ninja, who appeared to suck in a shaky breath. His hand twitched under her grasp.
“Lloyd?”
She sat up straighter, tightening her hold on his hand.
A couple seconds passed.
Lloyd shot up from his slumber, panting, he looked like a deer caught in headlights.
His eyes darted around the room frantically.
”I- where- wha—“
“Lloyd! It’s okay! You’re okay!” Nya assured, now standing up next to the table.
He felt a warm hand sit on his shoulder.
”Take a deep breath for me Lloyd.”
Lloyd’s eyes settled onto Nya’s worried face, he nodded shakily and inhaled deeply.
”That’s it, in and out. Your doing good, Lloyd.”
“I-“ he started, “I had a weird dream.” He rubbed the back of his head.
“There was a giant roaming Ninjago city! And my father…he was looking for Wu.”
Nya shared a look with Mystake.
”That’s no dream young man, but a vision.” The old woman closed her eyes, “you must get to the child before it is too late.”
Lloyd looked at Nya, then he closed his eyes to try and channel his power.
”My- my power?! Why-“ He breathed out, “Why isn’t it-?” A disappointed look washed over his face.
”You’re alive Lloyd. That’s all you need to know.” Nya rubbed his arm in attempt to comfort the boy.
“But, without my powers I’m- I’m not the green ninja…”
”True power, always comes from within.” Mystake voice sounded through the shop.
Another boom echoed through the city.
”We need to fight on, Lloyd. Do you have any strength left?” She questioned.
Lloyd nodded, pushing himself off the table slowly.
He slightly leaned against Nya for support as the two walked out.
Mystake rushed after them. “ Go Ninja! Go!”
”The end is not the end! Only a new beginning!”
——————————————————————
“This. Is. CRAZY!” Jay shouted.
The ninja had been running and attacking the colossus, a giant rock monster, for about 30 minutes now.
Tired, they all crouched in a small alleyway.
”How are we ever gonna defeat that thing! I mean, one wrong move and we could be squished like ants under his giant foot!” Jay shuddered at the thought.
”Calm down! We just need a good plan” Kai said with built up frustration.
“Says YOU, Mr. Impulsive.” Cole rolled his eyes and leaned against the cold brick wall.
“Enough arguing!” Zane said sternly, “We won’t get anywhere if you all keep bickering!”
”Unfortunately, Zane is right.” Kai said, crossing his arms.
Zane glared at the Master of Fire before continuing, “I believe we should try and knock it down first, and then attack it.”
”That’s…not a bad idea!” Cole perked up, “But how are we going to do that? You’ve seen the size of that thing!”
”We need-“ Zane pondered, “a distraction.”
“PIXAL!” He called.
The android flew the mech and landed it precisely in the alley.
”Yes?”
”I have a plan!” His eyes sparkled with determination.
——————————————————————
Nya walked up the steps of the old apartment building, grimacing at the dusty walls.
Which room did Darreth say they were in?
She quietly walked through the hallway, passing by many rooms.
Until, she heard a scream. A child’s scream.
She followed the noise, now running through the dimly lit hall. She heard another faint voice.
”What happened to you, Garmadon?!”
Misako!
She ran over, and just in time as well.
She swiftly pushed Misako and Young Wu out of the way, just before the purple blast of dark magic reached them.
With magic still sizzling in Lord Garmadon’s finger tips, he shot another blast, this time aimed at the Water Ninja.
Without hesitation, Nya used her power and burst the above water pipe, using it to harshly blast Garmadon into the concrete wall behind him.
“GAHHHH!”
She heard Garmadon shriek angrily. Quickly grabbing Misako by the arm, she hurried them out of the building.
”Quick, we have got to get out of here! The Bounty is waiting for us outside!” They rushed out the final door of the building and were met with the sight of the giant boat.
They climbed the small ladder and then pulled it up onto the boat.
”Mom! Master Wu!”
A voice echoed from the other side of the boat near the controls.
“Son! You are alright!” She smiled softly at him.
”You can’t get rid of me that easily.” Lloyd said chuckling a little, flashing a small smile at his mom and the young master buried in her arms.
Nya rushed to the deck and quickly started the ignition.
But before she could push the Bounty into the air, she heard a small static on her ear piece.
”Nya, Nya can y-you hear me?” The audio cracked slightly.
”Pixal? Yes! I can hear you!”
”Good.” Pixal said. “The ninja are waiting on a roof top, a little bit away from the Borg Tower! They have a plan and need the Bounty to distract the Stone Giant!”
”On my way!” Nya said, igniting the thrusters and launching the bounty into the air once again.
——————————————————————
“I hope Lloyd’s okay.” Cole said with worry lacing his voice. He stared out into the now destroyed city.
The view would have been more beautiful if the circumstances were not dire.
“Yea.. and I hope this plan works out!” Jay chimes in.
”It better!” Kai added, “Otherwise-“
”Awww well if it isn’t the color coded ninja!”
A sickeningly sweet voice echoed from behind them, footsteps now approaching them nearer.
They whirled around, and their eyes met with the white haired girl. The girl who broke their brother’s heart and stomped all over him. The one who brought back Garmadon from the dead! The cause for all this mess is the first place!
”Harumi..” Kai groaned. “great! Just great.”
“What do you want from us?” Jay glared at her, annoyed.
”I want the child. Where is he?” She pressed.
”Heh, why would we ever tell you that?” Cole raised a brow.
Without any hesitation she pulled out a sword from behind.
Laughing, she turned to look at them.
“Why wouldn’t you, it would just make this all SO much easier.” She shrugged, inching closer to them.
The ninja looked at each other with a knowing look.
“Run!”
At once, they leaped towards the next rooftop, Harumi chasing after them, dangerously wielding a sword.
The red ninja huffed, “The Bounty—,” he gasped for air, “should be here soon!”
They kept running, bouncing from the rooftops, with Harumi hot on their trail. A distant whirring noise caused them to glance to the right for a second.
“The Bounty!” Jay cheered, “NYA!” He called out towards them.
“Heard you could use some help!” Nya shouted loud enough for them to hear from afar.
“Yea, we need to you to distract the Colossus so we can knock it to the ground!” Cole yelled.
“On it!” Nya said, but before she took off she heard her brother’s voice once again.
“Wait! You mind picking us up first, we kind of have a… a situation on our hands.” He jerked his head alerting her about Harumi.
“I- I can’t get closer from here! Hold on for a few more minutes, we can meet over there near the Colossus! By the train!
The Red ninja nodded and the four kept running.
Harumi cackled, seemingly powered by her evil determination, “You can’t get away from me! I will ALWAYS win!”
Soon enough, they reached the sky trains and quickly hopped on top of one, waiting for the Bounty to show up by their side.
They glanced back at Harumi who was still stuck at the edge of the last rooftop.
“Haha! It looks like we did get away !” Jay grinned at her.
She glared at him angrily for a second, but the look quickly got washed away and replaced with another wicked smile. She reached behind her back and pulled out something.
Oh no. The Oni mask of hatred.
The girl slipped the mask on and the dark energy swirled around her, the pigtails grew into place, and the evil smile never left her face.
Now with more enchanted skill, she easily leapt across an impossible distance and landed on the train with ninja.
”Shoot!” Kai groaned, spinning around to face her.
”Thought you could get rid of me so easily? How pathetic.” She flashed a fake smile at them and drew her sword out again.
The ninja switched up into their fighting positions, Harumi swung the sword at them mercilessly.
”You shouldn’t resist! It will end no matter what! I will get what I want.”
She pinned Kai to the roof, Zane shoved her off and dodged her attack.
She cornered the Titanium ninja at the edge of the train, his eyes widened as he saw the large drop below, at least hundreds of feet up.
Jay grabbed her shoulder and flung her away to the other side of the train, Zane sighed in relief.
”Kai!”
A voice came from the left.
”Nya!” He shouted, “over here! Hurry!”
She flew the Bounty closer and closer to the train. “Alright, almost there just hang on!”
Finally the Bounty’s deck was close enough to the edge of the train for them to jump.
”Cmon guys!” Lloyd said, peaking over the edge of the ship.
”Alright lets-“
The bounty suddenly jerked harshly to the right.
”Wha-“ Nya muttered, she turned her head and her eyes widened as she saw the Colossus, whose hands gripped tightly to the back of the ship.
”No!” She shouted, “No no no!” She pulled the accelerator as hard back as she could but it didn’t do much. The ship was slowly getting pulled close to the giant beast…
and farther from the ninja.
Lloyd’s eyes flickered with fear.
He closed his eyes and strained trying to find any form of power within him, but nothing came through.
”This-This can’t! No!”
He looked over to the ninja, who stared back at him worriedly.
Harumi just stood with her arms crossed, pleased.
”Nya! Get us out of here!” Lloyd panicked.
”I- im trying! It’s not working!”
Pixal flew the the mech to the front of the ship and tried pulling it out of the giant’s grasp.
“He’s too strong!” Pixar yelled.
She landed the mech back on the ship before the Colossus’s other hand grasped the front of the ship as well. She hopped off the mech.
“The battery of the mech is almost dead!”She worriedly looked at them.
Then they heard a loud crack…
From the ship.
Sure enough, the Colossus was crushing the ship with its giant glowing hands.
Fast.
”We’re not gonna make it!” Lloyd cried out.
”Don’t say that Lloyd! There has to be a way!”
”We need to go! Now!” Misako said, baby Wu nodded as well.
”Wait.” Nya paused as realization struck her face, “To go! That’s it!”
Lloyd looked confused as she pulled out the small paper bag Mystake had given her.
”To go!” Nya said, a slight smile on her face.
She opened the bag and revealed the contents. Travelers tea leaves.
At once, the leaves began glowing and swirling around the five, their eyes glimmered marveling at the beautiful sight.
Then, everything went black.
…
The Colossus pushed harder, and with a final effort, crushed the entire ship.
”NOOOOOOOO!” Kai yelled, tears pricking his eyes.
The other ninja just stared, wide eyed, not yet processing what happened.
”This!” Harumi smiled, “This is what I wanted! For you to suffer! To lose everything!”
“And soon, you will be gone too.”
With that, she leaped off the train onto another roof top and disappeared into the city.
The ninja stayed quiet until the train finally came to a stop. They leapt off train one by one.
As soon as Kai reached the ground first, he crumpled to his knees.
“Lloyd…” He muttered out shakily, “Nya, my- my sister.”
Jay dropped next to him.
“Nya.” Jay closed his eyes, not allowing the flood of tears to spill.
Zane came up next to Jay and placed a cold hand on his brother’s shoulder, he closed his eyes as well.
“Pixal.” His voice was dull.
Cole quietly sat next to his brothers, the pain finally settling over him.
”Master Wu..” he whispered sadly.
None of the brothers decided to move from their spot for a while.
