Chapter Text
The sun has descended.
Hoshino Aquamarine can only stare at her in disbelief and he knows the feeling that bubbling in his chest is called betrayal. He does however, know more than anyone else that he absolutely deserved this but why does it have to be her?
That man smiled in pure amusement as he watched his son break when he saw the look on his face when he saw who was next to him. Kamiki Hikaru found nothing but joy and amusement at the look on Hoshino Aquamarine's face.
"What happens to the sun if it gets eclipsed?" She asked coldly to Hoshino Aquamarine, her crimson eyes akin to warmth became darker and colder, encasing it in ice as she tapped on her feet impatiently with a look filled with what Aqua can only call as distaste and perhaps even… hatred…
Arima Kana's lips curled up with a hint of darkness that shouldn't be there, "It became an eclipse sun. And everyone knows that an eclipse sun is more harmful than an eclipsed moon," she said with a gleeful giggle as she reached out to Kamiki and wrapped her arms around his arm, pulling herself closer to the man that had eclipsed the sun. "You no longer can manipulate or toss me around like a used toy, Hoshino," she said coldly, "I won't let you. Not anymore," she said, "I will no longer be on your side. I will be with him."
Those words hurt. Aqua thought distantly to himself as he stood still, staring at the two people that; one, he wanted to kill; one, he never thought would be siding with the one he wanted to kill.
How did this happen? Why did this happen? Where did it all go wrong?
Well, it started with the day Hoshino Aquamarine decided to date Kurokawa Akane for real and avoid Arima Kana like a plague. That's where everything went wrong as that's where Arima Kana encountered Kamiki Hikaru and where Arima Kana decided that perhaps, the sun was better off gone forever and asked Kamiki Hikaru to eclipse the sun once and for all…..
「And so, the sun had fallen.」
Arima Kana marches through the streets with tears pooling in her eyes. It hurts. It really does. She doesn't mind Aqua starts dating Akane for real even if it hurts her and breaks her heart into tiny pieces but she cannot deal with Aqua avoiding and not wanting to talk to her. She clenched her fists as she kept walking, her heart breaking in small tiny pieces as starts thinking about the whole thing from the beginning to the end, wondering where everything had gone wrong in her life. She stops by the sidewalk and stares at the pavement before starting to walk forward yet again.
Why am I feeling lonely? She thinks to herself because even with all of the people around her, she couldn't help but still feels a bit lonely. She treasured and loved the girls with all her heart but she still feels like she's missing something. She gritted her teeth in anger. "I hate this," she muttered with a melancholic yet annoyed tone as she kept on walking with her eyes everywhere but the front. She knew she should have watched where she was going considering she is now on the ground, groaning in pain after running into someone. She heard someone cursing like a thunderstorm but also groaning in pain then she heard the sound of their clothes rustling, probably because whoever she ran into, got up, standing first. "I'm so sorry!!! I wasn't watching where I was going!!" She said as she too, slowly got up, taking the offered hand as the owner pulled her up, eyes widened at the sight of the person before her.
A gentle smile dancing playfully on his lips, his screwed glasses that's half down, showing off one of his eyes as he definitely didn't fix when he got up and those mesmerising eyes… it felt like looking into Aqua's eyes but unlike Aqua, his eyes felt colder, darker and far more mysterious. Kana never had much passion for mystery but something about this man makes her want to indulge in that mystery. It also felt like staring at an older version of Aqua but Kana doesn't know why but she felt like a moth attached to the flame and she just met this man by complete accident and it's barely been a minute. Her eyes widened as pink started to paint her cheeks when the man waved a hand in front of her face, "Oh dear, are you alright?" He asked and something in Kana shivered and couldn't help but wanted to melt in his voice. It's so… nice. "Okay, I'm genuinely concerned now. Are you okay?" He asked with genuine concern in his voice as he stared at her with concern.
Kana didn't know how but she manage to nod her head at his question, "I'm okay," she could barely let that out as she was still taken aback at how similar looking he is to Aqua except he had something about him that so different from Aqua, it intrigued Kana into wanting to get to know him. Could it be the magnetic charm he had? Was it her loneliness and vexation towards Aqua that made her want to get to know this man? Kana didn't know. She really doesn't.
"I'm starting to think you're not okay," she blinked from her blatantly staring at the man who is waving his hand in front of her yet again and she noticed that the glasses are now properly covering his eyes, hiding those… mesmerising eyes..
Kana shook her head, "No, I'm okay. Just…" taken aback by how similar you look to Aqua. That part she didn't say out loud, however, the more she looked at him, the more she noticed something's off about him. She blinked, then, "I'm so sorry for running into you!!" She bowed down to her waist as she apologized profusely to the man, now that she's standing and recalled why she's on the ground in the first place.
The man waved his arms, "Ah, no, no. It's okay," he said with a gentle laugh, "I wasn't paying attention either so it's on both of us," he said again, that ever so captivating smile dances on his lips as Kana stares at him. "Though, I must say," he said, his smile turned mysterious, drawing Kana in because this man… his charm is undeniable. She only met this man for less than a minute and she was already drawn in to him. "Let me buy you a cup of coffee," he said with a chuckle, "As an apology," he added, sliding his glasses down slightly to show his eyes that's twinkling with amusement.
Kana blinked out of whatever haze she was in and glared at him, "Asking me out on a date already?" Her ever sharp tongue lashed out, "Too bad, I'm not interested," she denied him with a frown on her face as the man chuckled.
"I'm sure you're not interested," he said teasingly, "Perhaps that would be true if you weren't ever so busy checking me out and staring at me so much," Kana felt her cheeks heats up at his words as the sly man smiled impishly at her.
"Hmmp," she scoffs, trying to wrench the redness of her cheeks away, "Why would I check you out? I don't think you're my type anyway," she denied his bold claim, even though her eyes lingered on his face as the man took his glasses off and Kana couldn't help but be damned. He looks so much like Aqua, it's actually so uncanny at this point. "How old are you anyway?" She asked with a pointed look as the man looked at her in amusement.
"My, my, my," he purred, "Are you sure you're not interested in me?" He said teasingly with a sly smile, "How old am I?" He repeated her question with a hum, "Hmm. I wonder. How about you tell me instead?" He said cheekily with a mischievous look on his face.
Kana glared at him, eying the man before her who still had that damn smile on his face, his eyes twinkling with mischief, "I would say your age is….." she paused, staring at the man to figure out his age. He does look like he's in his early to mid twenties so he's probably around twenty-two (being the youngest) to twenty-eight (being the oldest)…
The man hums in anticipation, his eyes still holding that twinkling mischief in them, "My age is?????" He echoed with a sing along voice and Kana wanted to hit this man with how smug he looked.
"You're ancient. Probably around your mid thousands," Kana said instead, enjoying the way the man sputtered in shock and glared at her.
"How dare you! Kids these days," he grumbled in annoyance. "The fact that I still live to this day with that age is already impressive because what the fuck am I? A deity?" He muttered underneath his breath but Kana still heard it all.
Kana snorted at his reaction, "No. Just an ancient man," she said as the man glared at her even more. If she didn't know any better, she would think it was Aqua that's glaring at her from that look on the man's face because holy shit. He looks so much like him.
"The audacity," the man grumbled, "I'm very much in my early thirties, thank you very much," he grumbled with a roll of his eyes.
Kana felt like her eyes ran out of her skull and her jaw dropped at his words. "EARLY THIRTIES!? I THOUGHT YOU'RE LIKE AT LEAST TWENTY-TWO!!! TWENTY-EIGHT THE OLDEST!!!!" Kana exclaimed in shock, making the man look taken aback before bursting into a laughing mess at her words. "Shut up! Stop laughing!!!" Kana yelled at him in embarrassment, "Also, are you actually in your early thirties?" She asked for clarification because there's no way this man is older than he looks.
"Hahahaha!!!" The man laughs, wiping a tear of joy off his eye, "Sure am!" He said cheerfully with laughter in his voice, "I'm thirty-one to be exact," he said joyfully as Kana sputtered in shock, not believing that's the man's real age. The man smiled at her with amusement as Kana glared at him.
"You're not lying are you?" She hissed with embarrassment as it painted her cheeks with crimson.
The man chuckled, "Nope! Can't find myself to lie to someone about something like this," he replied with amusement. He glanced at his watch and widened his eyes, "Oh shit. I'm running late," he cursed then stood on his full height because Kana just realised that he was actually taller than she thought, "Well, I'll see you around, Arima Kana-chan~" he waved her goodbye before rushing past her while Kana widened her eyes.
She didn't recall giving him her name….
She turns around to yell at him to stop, wanting to know how he knows her name, only to see that he's far away from her by the time she turns around. Kana gulped, wondering how the man knew her name before remembering. She's an actress and an idol… it makes sense for someone to know her name and recognise her in public but she noticed that the man acts like he doesn't know who she is until that last second.
She also just realised that she never got his name… it's fine though. She doubts she'll run into that man again. She shrugged off that interesting yet weird encounter because the more she thought about it, the more she remembered how much she missed talking to Aqua. If only Aqua would stop avoiding her like a plague and just talk to her like that man did.. she let out a sigh and dejectedly walked home because despite being cheered up a bit by that encounter with the Aqua look alike, she still misses Aqua.
She didn't notice that the man actually turned around at the last minute and stared at her with a sharp smile on his face, eyes twinkling with sadistic amusement as the stars of darkness adorned his darkened eyes.
He found his next target and she reminded him of the sun.
Oh. The amount of joy that he would get if he were to extinguish the sun… he chuckled darkly at the thought. However, he can't help but wonder if he should have extinguished the sun or…
He giggled creepily and his eyes darkened in madness, "Maybe I can make a solar eclipse instead…" Kamiki Hikaru mused in childlike curiosity. "Hmm~" he hummed as he turned around and walked towards his intended destination before running into Arima Kana. Perhaps he should think about it more and see if he wants to extinguish the sun or make a solar eclipse.
Either way, it doesn't matter to him.
It's been a week since that encounter with the Aqua look alike and Kana can't help but replay the whole meeting over and over again in her mind because the way he laughed at her words struck something in Kana and she wasn't sure what it was but she thinks she wants to hear it again. She widened her eyes then started slapping her cheeks repeatedly, "Alright, Arima," she muttered, "Get a hold of yourself. You're just interested in that man because he looks like Aqua not because you are interested in him," she scolded herself since she knew the truth behind her sudden interest in that man is exactly that. He looks like Hoshino Aqua. That's all. She shakes her head and when she remembered something, she let out a scream of frustration. Aqua is still avoiding her like a plague!! "GODDAMN IT JUST TALKED TO ME!!!! YOU STUPID BASTARD!!!" She screamed out of frustration, punching and strangling her pillow, imaging it as Aqua, "Just talk to me!!! I don't care if you are dating Kurokawa for real, just talk to me!!!! That's all I want from you!!" A tear dropped onto the pillow, "That's all…." She sniffles, "Avoiding me hurts more than you dating Kurokawa…" she gritted her teeth as more tears dropped down to the pillow before letting out another scream of frustration.
"You know what!?" She exclaimed in vexation, aggressively wiping her tears away, "I'm going out! I'm going to treat myself to have a nice good day because I don't need that bastard!!" She said vehemently, getting off her bed and marches towards her closet full of clothes, "I don't need a bastard that won't talk to me and avoid me for no good fucking reason!! All I need is a good day that is filled with self care and love because fuck Aqua! I can live without him talking to me ever again!!!" She curses out, picking out clothes she's going to wear when she goes out and treats herself to have an amazing day on her own. She doesn't need that bastard dominating her thoughts and destroy whatever semblance of sanity she have left just because she keep thinking and wondering why the fuck did he suddenly start avoiding and ignoring her.
She ended up picking up a very cute outfit for herself and went out to treat herself because she can and will do it!! She took a deep breath and started going to the places she wanted to go and shop for some cute clothes and accessories for herself and then, she will head to a cafe to get herself some drinks after that.
And that's where she ran into him again. "Oh?" He said with a mischievous smile while Kana glared up at him — this Aqua looking bastard is so tall!! What the hell — since this is the last person she would think she would run into while she's out to have some self care and love day. "We meet again," he said cheerfully as he came closer to Kana.
"It's the ancient bones," she's so thankful that she had a very sharp tongue as the man's smile turned into a very obviously fake one as he glared at her.
"I'm thirty-one," he hissed, "I'm not ancient!" He denied her words immediately with a pointed glare on his face. Kana hummed, pretending not to hear anything the man said as he kept glaring at her, "You're ignoring everything I said, aren't you?" He asked dryly as Kana looked up at him.
"Hmm? Did you say anything?" Kana said with a smile as the man's eyes twitched.
"Nope!" He replied with an obvious fake cheerfulness, "I didn't say anything at all!"
Kana hummed again as she walked forward, wanting to go inside the cafe and order something to both drink and snack on, making the man follow her close behind. She glanced at him, "Why are you following me?" She asked as the man hummed then shrugged at her words.
"What do you mean? I merely want to get some drink here too," he replied nonchalantly with a smile.
Kana squinted at him before ignoring him, went inside the cafe and walked over to take a seat. She glared at the man when he took a seat right in front of her. There's that damn smile on his face again. "Why are you sitting right in front of me?" She asked in distaste.
The man chuckled, "I do believe I owe you a coffee or well, rather, a drink, of your choice as an apology for running into you," he said with a teasing smile on his face as Kana blinked then glared at him.
She actually remembered something now that the man mentioned it but the waiter came to their table before Kana could start questioning the man. They placed their order and are currently waiting for it to arrive. Kana stared at him, checking him out because fuck it. She feels like she's staring at Aqua but is slightly older and smiles a lot. And a lot more… playful??? She thinks but personality wise, he's nothing like Aqua. "Who are you?" She began, "You obviously know my name," she pointed out with a look.
The man hummed, "Kamiki Hikaru," he said with a shrug, "I was thinking of giving a completely different name to you but eh. I don't feel like lying at the moment," he said, shamelessly admitting that he would lie to Kana but decided otherwise, surprising Kana since she didn't expect him to straight up admit that to her.
"Why would you admit that?" She didn't know why she said that but she did and now Kamiki just stared at her with a raised eyebrow.
Kamiki shrugged, "Why not? It's not like it's a harmful lie or truth," he bluntly replied with a shrug and the way he said give Kana a breath of fresh air because she didn't expect him to be honest to her. "Well, now you know my name, anything else you want to ask, Kana-chan?" He said with a mischievous smile as Kana stared at him in distaste because what the fuck? This man is a complete stranger to her yet he's already referring to her by her given name? Hell no.
"Aren't you acting a bit too overly familiar to me?" She said in distaste, "We don't know each other at all," she pointed out as Kamiki chuckled.
"Alright, alright," he said with amusement in his eyes and voice, "I'll call you A-chan then," he said mischievously as Kana glared at him, "What's with that scary look?"
"Do you give everyone you just meet a nickname?" Kana asked with narrowed eyes because what the fuck. Is he playing around with her?
Kamiki blinked at her question then started chuckling, "Pfft!! No way!" He said with a mysterious smile on his face that immediately drew Kana in, "So far, you're the only one I do this to," he said with a wink.
Kana felt like her face was on fire because did this man just hit on her!?
"My, my, my," Kamiki purred, "If you want me to flirt with you, just say so," he said teasingly before shaking his head with another chuckle while Kana just wanted the ground to swallow her whole because did she really just say that out loud!? "Yes. Yes you did," Kamiki confirmed with an amused smile. Then, "Just kidding. I don't think I'm good enough in the act of flirting," he mused with a helpless look on his face.
Kana can't help but gaped at him, "I thought you were a playboy!" She exclaimed in surprise while Kamiki looked absolutely disgusted at her words.
"The fucking audacity. I may look like one," Kana opens her mouth to agree with him because he does, in fact, look like one but Kamiki stops her before she can say anything, "Shush. I know exactly what you're going to say. So shush. However, I am not one. The last time I'm in a relationship is…" Kamiki paused for a bit as he visibly looked like he's pondering over his answer before continuing, "uh.. sixteen years ago?????" He said slowly then, glancing to the side a bit as he pondered over that answer, "Yeah. Sixteen almost seventeen years ago," he ended up saying with a nod of his head as he moved his gaze back to Kana.
Kana still has her jaw dropped because wow. She actually didn't expect it's been almost two decades since Kamiki's last relationship. She thought for sure he's a player and has been in a lot of relationships. She was going to say something but their order arrived and they both thanked the waiter, both taking a sip of their respective drink and a bite of their respective cake. "Wait, when's the last time you've been on a date?" Kana asked curiously because she's curious now. And if this ends up being a distraction from her ongoing frustration with Aqua, so be it. She's going to be a bit noisy because why not. Kamiki seem to be fine sharing anyway.
Kamiki hummed, "Uh. Hmm," he had a thoughtful look on his face, "Probably like twelve?? Years ago? Maybe? I actually don't know. It's a blind date though," he said and immediately clarify why he's on that date to begin with, "Some of the people in my life, by that I mean my childhood friends that doesn't know what "mind your own fucking business" mean, decided that I need to date someone to lighten up because they said I'm all doom and gloomy all the fucking time," he scowled, taking an aggressive bite out of his cake while Kana had an amused smile on her face.
"Really?" She said in amusement, "You don't seem like it to me."
Kamiki snorted, "Oh trust me, one of my childhood friends called me a gloomy rain cloud whenever she saw me," he grumbled in annoyance while Kana tried to stop herself from laughing at his words, "I can see that you find it funny. Laugh about it all you want, I don't care," he grumbled at her with a pointed look on his face as Kana giggled, still restraining herself from laughing too much. "Because it's better than whatever the hell my other childhood friend calls me. Like who the hell describes someone as "that one gloomy cloud that rains nothing but gloominess and pessimism"? Like bitch, shut the hell up. You're the same person who mistakenly wrote the kanji for rain as candy when you write that down," he ranted in annoyance and Kana couldn't help but laugh at him, no longer could she hold herself back from not laughing at Kamiki who starts to rant about how shitty his childhood friends descriptions of him is and how they compete in who can describe him the best and how it went from "okay fair. I am like that" to "what the fuck did you just fucking say about me????" as they went on.
Kana was planning to spend the day alone and just cheer herself up by treating herself via getting some new and cute clothes along with delicious food. However, spending it with Kamiki was actually really fun especially when Kamiki revealed that he used to be a theatre actor and that's how their conversation just kept on going. Even after they part ways and exchange LINE, they immediately start chatting after that. In fact, Kana was so engrossed with the conversation that she didn't realise it was almost dark already.
Huh. Time flies fast if you're having fun. Kana noted to herself as she turned the lights on with a cheerful hum because she felt a lot better now. She even had someone to chat with about acting, movies and even books because Kamiki shares the same taste as her. It's actually fun debating and discussing certain books and movies with someone else that watched them. She actually can't believe Kamiki is a horror movie addict which he replies with a "shut up. It's entertaining" when she sent that text to him.
All in all, it's a good day well spent and she even has a new friend??? She thinks they are friends but anyway, she has a new friend to talk to and he even shares the same taste as her.
What she didn't know that's where everything starts to spin around and how she ended up walking a path that no one, not even herself, would expect to do.
After all, she, too, has her own limit.
It just takes one wrong move for her to lose it and walk away from being the sun.
