Chapter Text
"Get up."
Jonah's mind was blank. His head throbbed from something he couldn't identify. Where was he? What did he…
Adam.
He left Adam at that house. He left him to die. He needed to go back. He needed to he needed to he-
"Get up."
What.. who was that? The voice was oddly familiar, though completely foreign to him. He complied, moving his arms to sit up.
He tensed. His gaze flicked around. He saw blood. So much blood. Was that his? He wasn't sure, and he couldn't bring himself to care right now. He groaned, forcing himself to stand and get into the van. He zoned out, letting himself turn the car around and return to that house. That damn house.
He saw the driveway, turning into it and stopping. Any fear he had seemed to leave him, no hesitation in his movements as he walked into the house.
It was empty. Mostly empty, at least. The walls were a pale cream, the little furniture inside varying shades of brown. It wasn't too bad, actually. Maybe a little boring, but considering the circumstances, it was sort of nice.
He could faintly hear the sound of static. That had to be where Adam was. He followed it, finding the door to the basement wide open, just like the picture Adam had taken. There was no meowing, just the static.
Jonah was careful to descend quietly, not wanting to startle Adam or cause a step to break by stepping too hard. Once he got to the bottom, he saw the blonde sitting in front of a small tv, the screen flashing between photos. It was moving fast, but he could catch glimpses of two men, neither faces familiar. There was a woman, and a bunch of other things flashing fast enough to make Jonah's head hurt. He approached slowly, his gaze still fixed on the tv until he was right behind Adam. The other hadn't even acknowledged him, his focus entirely on the screen.
"Nobody is coming to help you."
'Bullshit,' Jonah thought. His expression miffed at this. Dumb tv, he was standing right there! He reached down, tapping Adam on the shoulder. He had never seen the blond jump so hard, whipping around to face Jonah, eyes wide in a mix of shock and confusion.
"Jonah? The fuck are you doing here? Thought you left me."
Jonah didn't pay attention to the way Adam seemed to scan over his face, as if he felt something were off. He reached his hand out, offering to help the blond up from his spot on the ground.
He reluctantly grabbed the other boy's hand, hauling himself off the concrete floor.
"I couldn't leave you here dude. I just got a little upset earlier, that's all."
Jonah actively avoided mentioning the fact he had actually left him, only coming back after.. whatever had happened after he pulled over.
Jonah walked ahead, not turning to make sure Adam was following him. He knew it in the back of his mind that Adam would follow. Even if he wouldn't admit it, he would follow anyone who offered him something he wanted. He knew Adam wouldn't stay in a basement to face his doom. It was common sense, really.
Adam went towards the driver seat. He didn't complain. He had to drive here twice, anyways. He deserved a break. Jonah pulled his door shut, eyes immediately focusing outside. Adam stayed quiet, starting the car and driving with no set destination. Anywhere but that house would be fine for both of them.
And they left with no words said.
