Ray stretched as he finally finished his tasks for the day, however he still decided to double check to see if he missed anything..
“Crops all watered… check… livestock all fed… yep… no bunnies stolen… good..” Ray mumbled as he checked, he sighed.. finally he could go sleep..
He entered the door and heard a crash come from upstairs, from their room. Ray was worried, he walked upstairs and came to their bedroom door, only to hear soft sobs come from the room.
“Winston..?” Ray spoke softly, he gently opened the door, Winston quickly wiped his tears away when he saw Ray’s concerned and slightly tired face.
“Oh- Ray.. I didn't hear you come in…”
“I just finished doing all of the tasks, but that's the least of my concerns, why are you crying?” Ray asked softly, sitting beside Winston and softly wiping his tears away.
“I don't really want to talk about it.. at least not right now… if that's okay..?”
“That's perfectly fine, now, let's get some sleep..” Ray said climbing into bed beside Winston, Ray then wrapped his arms protectively around Winston, as if making sure nothing could hurt him.
Winston shakily sighed as he slowly relaxed, Ray softly kissed Winston's forehead and smiled as Winston fell asleep..
The next morning Ray woke up, he saw Winston still asleep, usually he would get up to make breakfast for the two of them but he didn't want to leave Winston after finding him crying at 1 in the morning.. so he stayed and waited until Winston woke up..
A few minutes later Winston woke up, yawning and blinking tiredly, he was surprised to see Ray still cuddling him.
“Ray..? You aren't making breakfast..?” Winston asked, Ray softly chuckled and began softly rubbing Winston’s head..
“No.. not yet.. I was waiting for you to get up…”
“You didn't have to…”
“I wanted to.”
Winston mumbled something incoherent and Ray simply laughed before getting up.
“Do you want me to go make breakfast or do you want to cuddle more?” Ray asked, Winston was about to get up but Ray softly pushed him back down.
“Ray- What the hell-”
“Stay here Winston, I'll be right back.” And Ray got up and left, leaving a very confused Winston alone..
Ray later returned with some candy fruit, he handed it to Winston, he looked at him kind of shocked.
“Eat up Winston!” Ray said happily, Winston nodded and began to eat, also slightly smiling..
While Winston was eating he decided to tell Ray why he had that breakdown last night..
“So uhm… basically I uh…” Winston stuttered and seemed to be nervous talking about this.. Ray started to gently rub Winston's back..
“It's okay Winston… take your time..” Ray said softly, Winston slightly nodded and spoke.
“Thanks.. erm.. anyways..”
Winston explained that he had a nightmare in which he woke up, and couldn't find Ray anywhere, where he searched and searched, but couldn't find him..
And it started to get to him, he ended up panicking which was when he woke up..
“Oh..” Ray didn't really know how to respond, he knew Winston had severe thanatophobia so not being able to find Ray anywhere must've been the reason he was scared to let go..
“Well hey… I’m not going anywhere Winston..” Ray said reassuringly, he was never the best at comforting people but he would try for Winston..
“Thank you..” Winston said softly hugging Ray, Winston began to softly cry again, Ray sighed and began running his fingers through Winston's hair, softly shishing him..
When that didn’t work Ray began softly humming, which slowly calmed Winston down..
Ray smiled and took the now empty bowl and placed it on the bedside table, before laying Winston back down, Winston was confused.. before Ray spoke.
“Now, here is what is gonna happen Winston.” Ray said in a sudden very stern voice, that worried Winston..
“You're going to stay inside for the day, I will take care of anything you need.” Ray spoke smiling.
“ What?! Ray- that seems like a little bit much for just one simple nightmare.”
“I don't care. ” Ray said, giving Winston a quick glare that basically told Winston that Ray wasn't changing his mind..
Winston groaned whilst Ray simply smiled innocently, this was going to be a long day..
