The air was cold and crisp but the sun seeped through the blinds as if it was summer.
Within the chilly room lay two temperatures that emanated warmth, the two figures bundled in weighted blankets both stuck to each other as if they were a puzzle piece unable to be seperated.
The taller figure groaned as the sun assaulted his eyelids and moved his wrist to rub at it, leaving the back of his partner cold.
Blinking up at a cream ceiling, he stared at it in a tranquil state.
A few minutes passed and he felt a shift beside him and turned to look at it.
Oh..
He thought. The boy beside him must be the reason why he was feeling weirdly isolated but unalone at the same time.
This made him smile as he reminisced memories just before he went to sleep. Sai- Kusuo, the boy beside him, had somehow chased away the ghosts that swarmed his room after touching him with his psychometry.
He insisted that it was fine and that the ghosts didn't bother him anyways but the pink-haired boy frowned and mumbled that he wanted it to just be them.
Reita chuckled to see it but just before he got his cheeks stretched painfully for laughing because apparently he 'didn't say anything, why are you laughing, perv'.
Reita twisted his body and faced the sleeping boy, he thought about how the boy beside him felt.
Was he fine with this? Did Kusuo feel uncomfortable and forced himself to be with Reita just because he pitied him? Was he disgusted to be with some pathetic medium that was basically a small fry compared to Kusuo? Did..
Did Kusuo even love him?
The thoughts overwhelmed his head as he furrowed his brows and squinted his eyes to keep the tears from flowing. It was a good thing that the boy wore his germanium ring in his sleep or else Reita would've felt even more pathetic than he already was.
The taller boy bit his lip and gripped at the blanket. No. Kusuo wouldn't be like that. Besides, he could have just rejected him rather than troubling himself with the likes of Reita. Even though he would have been hurt, Kusuo wouldn't have cared.
…
The purple-head closed his eyes and just focused on the environment around him, even as his heart pounded in his ears. His chest tightening and his throat becoming dry, his stomach felt as if he was being suffocated and his head hurt. It was as if the world around him tried to imprison his body as he desperately reached out for help. His whole heart felt as if someone had clutched onto it and wished for its death. But that was until he felt a palm rest on his cheek.
He startled and opened his eyes wide as he finally felt the tears that dripped down to the side of his face.
An ivory-coloured face rested in front of him, pink hair laid upon the slightly dark eyelids and realized it was long enough to cover it. Dark pink lashes contrasting the white skin and the slight pink across the cheeks, he noticed. Every skin, every color, the face of the boy in front of him he thought, looked ethereal and that every part was where it was meant to be.
His heart suddenly became calm, and the ringing in his ears that he didn't even notice, stopped. He felt that he was finally able to breathe and let out a breath he was holding in.
That's right. Kusuo chose him. He said yes to him.
There was no use to thoughts that tried to bring him down. Because the boy beside him was someone who could always pull him up, even as he trapped himself in a box full helplessness, he knew that him, that this boy, would always be there to break him out and show him a place where a world could finally love Toritsuka Reita that felt as if he was unloved.
He gave his lover one last smile and clutched the hand on his cheek as he closed his eyes.
Yes.. this was where he was now, at the hands of the most powerful boy to ever exist, and he was the one who got that boy to admit that he loved Reita as his own. He let out a blissful laugh.
The air in the room was cold and crisp, but it didn't dare to interfere with the two that laid on the same bed. It was as if it was just one whole day. One whole day, that was meant for them. And nothing could ever break that moment.
