While some wixen gained a creature inheritance if they had one upon reaching their magical maturity. Some had to wait for their inheritance until they met a specific set of requirements that were unknown to those who had not received that specific creature inheritance. Others managed to be born with a creature inheritance. Some such as Veela were an obvious inheritance, others such as the Cygwere gladly allowed outsiders to think they were of other creature inheritances. Some such as the leprechaun didn't care one way or the other, but every creature had their own quirks like the kitsune having tricks, leprechauns being generally mischievous, succubi and invubi being naturally seductive, and even the dragonkin being hoarders. Some quirks were more obvious than others. Sadly, only wixen ever were known to gain any kind of creature inheritance.
When every wixen in Hogsmeade or at Hogwarts during the defeat of Voldemort began to exhibit signs of having either gained an additional or new creature inheritance, emergency measures were pit in place and before Mme Pomfrey was no longer able to run things, she’d put a call for mediwixen from St Mungos and placed Seamus (who was one of the very few who hadn’t shown signs of another inheritance beyond the leprechaun inheritance he had from birth and likely the eldest if them) in charge until they got there. When the mediwixen got there and learned that everyone was being being treated for creature inheritances equally, they refused to aid any marked Death Eaters or current Slytherin students. Seamus took it upon himself to aid and tale care of them. This lead him to being the only one to know that Draco Malfoy was not the assumed veela but rather what was once believed to be nothing more than a myth – the cygwere.
It took a few months to realize and gain enough of Draco’s trust to be his confidant in regards to being a cygwere, but Seamus did. The two managed to figure out many of the secrets between observations and various conversations including one regarding soulmates and significant others. Seamus pretty much admitted that he had chosen Dean Thomas as his one and only without specifically stating so. Draco had initially panicked when Seamus had mentioned off-handedly that people were making assumptions about the two of them being together as some form of romantic or sexual couples. While Seamus’ inheritance could allow him to choose multiple partners, he had only chosen one so far. Draco in the other hand had yet to admit to whom he had chosen as his soulmate, but Seamus had his suspicions.
After several months, most of the creature inheritances had finally settled. Draco seemed to be settling into a bit of depression despite having been able to ensure his parents were safe. When Seamus heard rumors of American leprechauns having problems with family coins going missing, he convinced Draco to go to America with him. He didn’t want to distract Dean from his art studies so he hadn’t exactly told him about having been ordered by the leprechaun clans in the home country to investigate the coin claims. He also couldn’t risk going by himself on the off chance something happened.
Upon entering the United States, Draco and Seamus were confused. The two had thought traveling would be faster than it turned out to take since the country was larger than they thought. The original plan had been to arrive in New York then drive to each place someone had lost their coins but learning how big the country actually was caused Draco to transform to his swan form instead of traveling as a human. This caused more headaches for Seamus who wanted his best friend that he wasn’t soulmates with to talk to and possibly help him find out what was going on.
Sometimes the comments Draco would make when he returned to human form would be indicative of what he’d undergone while Voldemort had lived in Malfoy Manor terrorizing any who had any semblance of sanity. Other times, they showed how much Draco had changed from when he used to threaten his classmates with his father. Seamus was always trying to get Draco to admit whom he’d chosen as his soulmate, but Draco managed to sidestep any of Seamus’ falsely subtle inquiries and verbal traps.
It didn’t take long for Seamus to find the trail with Draco’s help. Hunting where the rogue leprechaun stealing the family coins had gone lead the two young men to a bitter feud caused by a leprechaun who had hated having been turned down by another in favor of what seemed like a muggle or no-maj to him.
“He’s not a no-maj or muggle, though, Draco had frowned as they watched the sports competition as official witnesses without any bias toward one side or the other.
“True, at the very least he’s a squib, otherwise Kyle would have been more leprechaun from the coin theft by now. Of course, if I’m reading the flow correctly, he’s got shaman ancestors. If that’s true, then Kyle will eventually become someone on par with Harry.”
“No one will ever be equal to Potter, Seamus. They all are inferior, and it’s very obvious even he’s become aware of it.”
Seamus couldn’t respond seeing as the sports challenge had finally come to a tie after three rounds. When the tie-breaker was announced, Seamus frowned. Could the teen beat a grown man with others on his team when his team was all teens and he was the only one aware of what was going on? Seamus had always been a lover of mischievousness and chaos, but this seemed to be taking things too far. When Kyle had given his choice of punishment if the other lost, Seamus had frowned thinking he’d have to deal with the menace. Draco, however, had smirked and nodded approvingly.
Finally, the challenge, competition, spectacle if you wanted to call it that was over. The O’Reilly teen had won and Draco was offering to stay and help the teen with his tactics. Seamus was confused. Kyle reminded everyone of the terms of the challenge. When the other tried to tell the teen his father was from Ireland , Kyle couldn’t stop his own smirk in response.
“My father’s from Ohio,” he corrected and explained at the same time.
Seamus laughed raucously while Draco didn’t even try to suppress his grin.
“Knowledge of whom you happen to be against is always a good thing. Maybe in the future, you will find you have learned from this,” Draco stated as the troublesome leprechaun who lost was magically transported to the “shores of Lake Erie” per the stipulations of the deal that had been made.
“Maybe we can modify the terms of his loss to your satisfaction, O’Reilly, I mean Johnson, so as to allow him to receive rewards for lessons learned?” Seamus mused.
“I’ll think about it,” Kyle frowned at the thought. “Do you think he Xander learn and change?”
“I did,” Draco shrugged.
“Can I take some time to figure out the specifics for what rewards he’d gain for different lessons or time milestones?”
“I don’t see why not. It’s not like the man’s going to learn them right away,” Seamus laughed. “Maybe my mate’ll be on summer break and able to join us in the discussion.”
“I thought the two of you-“ Seamus’ laughter and Draco’s growl cut Reilly O’Reilly off before he could finish.
“No, just no. This prat and myself? We’d never agree on anything. No, Dean is the best man for me,” Seamus laughed.
“As if this clover head could hold a candle to the man I would give everything up for,” Draco sniffed indignantly. “Please Mr. O’Reilly, I have better taste for myself than someone who blows things up when trying to make them float.”
“Twas just that first lesson, not any other time,” Seamus pouted.
