Chapter Text
One morning Phil wakes up, he gets ready for school. Freddy isn't downstairs, Phil checks Freddy's room, Fred is still in bed... and he isn't breathing. Phil checks his pulse and nothing... Phil knows what this means. It means going back to the group home, then to foster family after foster family hoping someone in his family will vouch for him but that won't happen this time... Freddy was the last one left, no estranged uncles to turn to, no lost cousin to lean on, no loving grandparents to hope for... no one. He really was an orphan now.
Memories of group homes past flood Phil's brain. Memories of being yelled at for taking food outside of mealtimes, it wasn't his fault they didn't feed him enough! For being mad that stupid Taylor called him Fatty for the twelfth time today! It was always his fault! Not the kids and certainly not the adults who teased him relentlessly. Foster homes were decidedly worse though, plenty of them sent him to bed hungry over next to nothing or just because they felt like it. Tears started to fall...
"I'm not going back." Phil said, wiping the tears and snot off his face as it molded into bold determinism "I'm NEVER going back!" Phil screamed.
