Thinking Outrageously, I Write in Cursive

Summary:

Proposing to someone is incredibly important, after all. Big day. Ah– He wasn’t sure how he was going to pay for the wedding– That wasn’t important right now, he’d clear that hurdle when he got there. Perhaps the other would just be happy with something small? Oh, but what if he wanted it to be more?

Work Text:

Now, Dongrang wasn’t exactly bad at keeping secrets. No, he felt he was quite the opposite. He could keep one to the end of time, especially if a friend had asked it of him. Though, keeping one of your own, especially such an exciting one.. Was another thing. He was doing well at it, though, if he did say so himself.

It wasn’t as though he was going to say anything about it anytime soon, either. He had no compulsion to do so. Really– He was just far too excited. Though he’d remind himself every time, he shouldn’t spoil that, when he doesn’t even have it yet.

That said, there’s no need to be so secretive in thoughts , so…

He didn’t quite have money for this sort of thing. In fact, he didn’t quite have money at all most of the time. Affording a bus was difficult for him, even. Which he didn’t quite like to admit to anyone, if he were to be honest about it. There was a lot of shame in being poor, right..? Well, he didn’t quite mind. He was happy as he was, with his friends. He needed nothing more and nothing less.

Of course, that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try. Especially not for this. Maybe this was a bit more than Dongrang was able to handle.

Yi Sang certainly wouldn’t be paying for any of that, this said. Not a bit. Dongrang wouldn’t allow it! Haha… Should he say yes, after all.

Dongrang was going to have it all perfect for him, no matter what. He wasn’t going to worry about what he wanted, only what Yi Sang wanted. And, well, that wouldn’t exactly be anything extravagant, Dongrang was sure of that… What if, though! What if Yi Sang turned around and said, “No, let’s make it big!”

He’d never do that… But it was fun to think about. Dongrang was getting ahead of himself, though. He hadn’t even paid for it yet. He didn’t have the money for it yet, nevermind anything else. He was getting there, though! Perhaps not in the most glamorous fashion of making money, but he was getting there! Plus– He was doing something he liked doing! Helping out at the farm nearby– Not one he owned or anything like that (though, that was a fun idea, he didn’t believe he could cope with such huge responsibility.)

Dongrang had such a way with animals, taking care of and helping them was just a second nature to him. So, of course, no one really wants to clean out animal pens, do they? Not a very enticing idea to most, but, hey. Working with animals and getting paid for it? He couldn’t ask for more. Well, he could. Like a better job. But– beggars can’t be choosers now, right? Especially not.. here. Hah.

Nonetheless, he wasn’t exactly getting paid much for this. Certainly not enough to pay for travel to college, to pay for food, to pay for bills, to pay for– um. Everything? So, simply, he’d forgo a few of those things. Sometimes they’d be necessary, of course. He obviously couldn’t go too long without eating. That just wouldn’t work out. But, he’d still push that limit a bit too far sometimes, even so.

One time, he’d almost passed out at college. It wasn’t exactly amusing for him. Aseah found it pretty funny.. Though he found most things funny, didn’t he? Often, he’d jump at the chance to give Dongrang a ride to College. Motorbike. It wasn’t exactly… The best look to be clinging onto your roommate for dear fucking life though, was it. Especially not someone who tended to me more than handsy – Let’s not get into it. Regardless, Dongrang needed the money, so not having to pay for a bus was a huge thing. Aseah couldn’t do it every day, that said, it wasn’t like he didn’t also have his own stuff to handle.

Whatever that was. Dongrang didn’t want to know, actually!

He’d remembered that day vividly, when Aseah practically had to carry him home, he was so tired out. Mainly because he hadn’t eaten, but–  Unimportant in the grand scheme, Dongrang had assured him. Aseah had a field day with that one, though, obviously. Making all sorts of less-than-flattering comments about it. Whatever. It wouldn’t happen again. (It very well might.)

Regardless of that, the only person who had any idea of what was going on was Dongbaek. Now, while Dongrang and her had their.. Arguments. Tiny little spats– the usual. She would never break his trust on telling Yi Sang (Or anyone else) what was going on. She was as loyal as could be. Well, actually, she’d threatened multiple times to tell Yi Sang when Dongrang was getting on her nerves– But she never actually did it!

Yes, Dongrang would be sobbing and whining about how she can’t do that she can’t ruin this she can’t she can’t she can’t– And in turn, she’d elbow him and roll her eyes. “I’d never do that, idiot.”

She really was a great friend! When she chose to be.

Oh they did not get along at all– But sometimes it was different! And she was doing her part for him! Or, well… She said it was for Yi Sang, but that’s close enough, right?

She’d never broken his trust when it came to his horrific crush on Yi Sang in the first place, so there’s no reason she’d do so now, anyways. Because she wouldn’t ruin it for Yi Sang. Yup. Dongrang had this in the bag.

Maybe unless Aseah found out… Dongrang was uhm. Struggling whenever he asked about things. For a variety of reasons. None of which we will discuss here today. All Aseah knew is that he was saving up money for something very very important, and that he shouldn’t ask about it or mention it because it’s a surprise for someone, and yes, this is a good excuse to not eat, I promise you that.

It had sometimes come to Aseah to buy food for his roommate, at this stage. Though getting him to actually eat it was a whole other game to play. Dongrang didn’t exactly want to accept it, after all, they all struggled a little bit when it came to money. It wasn’t anything new to any of them. Oftentimes, they would be sharing things together just for that ease, and how it’s a little less expensive if you all chip in a small amount. But it felt wrong to accept it when Dongrang did technically have money. Money he was refusing to use, but.. Money, nonetheless.

All would be finished soon, though! He had contacted a jeweler for this and everything! It was going to be perfect, custom, and Yi Sang was going to love it! It was going to be special and everything was going to be great. He loved his boyfriend, so, so much. And he was so excited to take things further ! Dongrang figured, he’d have enough within the next week or so– Pay day soon. All he had to do was skip a few meals, and he’d have it all.

Hopefully it wouldn’t take too long to make. He was already so excited, it almost felt cruel to him, to have to wait longer. But, that’s how it was. To make something so intricate be perfect and flawless would take time, after all. And it was time that he was more than willing to wait. He had all the time in the world, didn’t he?

They’d be sharing some of their inventions together soon. Everyone loved that sort of stuff– everyone was so smart.. Coming up with new ways to change the world for the better. Dongrang knew everyone was going to go far, someday. He was sure of that. He hoped so much for Yi Sang, especially (no bias, promise!)  It was hard to do this sort of stuff, when struggling to live as it was, but they were all so full of enthusiasm for it. It was so motivating, sometimes.

To just keep moving forward.

He was really excited to see what everyone had going on..

And very excited to show off his own, too.
