assumptions of enid sinclair

Summary:

enid sinclair, -that pink creature that probably bathed in rainbow glitters-, without ever interacting with her after the tour, had wednesday addams obssessed

wednesday absolutely hated it. absolutely hated HER. dreaded her. she had daydreams imagining different ways to murder her, torture her, ruin her and her stupid perfect smile and stupid blue eyes

and then as if that wasn't enough enid started talking to her after the break

needless to say they became rivals pretty fast

or

wednesday was good at guessing, but assuming enid sinclair was just another popular blonde mean girl turned out to be one of her biggest mistakes

Notes:

yes, i reposted this, so what. mind your business

Chapter Text

blonde, pretty and popular girls weren't a new sight for wednesday addams. moving from schools to schools pretty often or really- just getting kicked out from them and and having to attend another, she had seen -unfortunately- all the types of teenagers of modern world

so meeting enid sinclair for the first time when transferring to nevermore, wednesday carelessly assumed she was just another one of them while the girl was giving her a tour. 'one of them' as in the blonde, blue-eyed, overly colorful yet somehow mostly pinkoverly friendly - so much that it was obvious how fake it actually was- , bubbly popular girls she had seen in every single school she enrolled in for some hateful reason (she was convinced universe saw her as nemesis)

and it wasn't like enid had given her a reason not to assume. enid sinclair had her own friendgroup/minions - as other students liked to call them, following her around like puppies. the only person enid seemed to actually consider and pay most of the attention to was the japanese girl that always wore the round sunglasses and was standing next to enid instead of behind her

not to mention, enid being the cheerleader captain of the school. a fucking cheerleader. come on now

if you still blame wednesday, she once saw with her own eyes how enid sinclair, single handedly outcast a student by simply telling him to move to another table at lunch. wednesday witnessed the sudden shift in the atmosphere, how everybody at the lunch was silent, how the student paled but wednesday could swear she even saw tears and how everyone started avoiding the student and pretending they didn't notice his presence

eugene told her that it has happened before, several times, that the last time it did nobody spoke to the previous victim until enid herself did and how one time she didn't and the outcasted student had to move schools

wednesday was wrong to assume because there was more to this girl than she thought

nevermore had this giant notice board in the hallway that updated every couple of months for the exam results. at the end of wednesday's very first semester in nevermore, she was standing in the crowd of students gathered in the hallway and staring at her name on the notice board

she was expecting to be on the top of the list, as usual, as it happened every other time in every other school. she took pride in her intelligence. and it did happen. what she wasn't expecting was enid sinclair's name being right next to hers

they had gotten the same score

enid sinclair had gotten the same score as wednesday addams

the blonde blue eyed popular cheerleader captain with way too much friends and way too much energy that posts stories on her instagram every twenty minutes of her self and her friends partying and drinking and socializing and the enid sinclair that can't last a day without not getting in some sort of kpop fandoms fight on twitters (not that wednesday has been stalking her socials or something)

in what world

IN WHAT WORLD

if you asked wednesday, she accepted the news unbothered. if you asked her, she'd laugh because she definitely did not spend her entire break scoffing

enid sinclair, -that pink creature that probably bathed in rainbow glitters-, without ever interacting with her after the tour, had wednesday addams obssessed

wednesday absolutely hated it. absolutely hated HER. dreaded her. she had daydreams imagining different ways to murder her, torture her, ruin her and her stupid perfect smile and stupid blue eyes

and then as if that wasn't enough enid started talking to her after the break

needless to say they became rivals pretty fast

both aiming for being the top students. wednesday being wednesday, gaining attention and getting...*gagging noises*.. popular.

when she first noticed people recognizing her in the hallways, she attributed it to fear and intimidation. few of her peers fearing her was never not welcomed

however, when the sixth guy of the week approached her with a 'confession' and hope for something more than a glare, and even more people tried to befriend her, invite her to friend groups, gatherings and parties- wednesday realized what actually happened upon herself and when she did it was all too late

at least most girls had some decency and approached her privately instead of middle of hallways or cafeteria OR THE WORST: straight up fucking classroom, in front of literally everybody. digging their own graves really if you ask her

wednesday can't say her looks don't matter to her. they do. but solely for herself. she's a perfectionist and neat freak, of course she feels the need to look after her appearance. it's to feel in control and satisfied. not for those brainless hormone raging teenagers to follow her with their gaze

not mentioning the fact that they thought her glares and threats was just her acting 'hard to get' and somehow that made it all even worse and thousand times more unbearable

with confessions and love came rumors and hatred , that she could not care less about but still knew the existence of

enid, of course saw that as a competition. exams results dropped and wednesday name remained next to hers on the notice board. they never used direct insults against eachother, instead it was the passive aggressive comments, checking each other's grades and sending little smug smirks and annoyed glares

but the rest of the school noticed it pretty soon and student body divided into 'sides'- which was ridiculous obviously but wednesday learned that you can't make her peers mind their business when it comes to gossip

wednesday dreaded every minute of break between classes. wednesday took notes as the teacher spoke, got her assay results from last week and glanced at enid across the classroom who was already looking at her with a smug smile and her paper in her hand, showing wednesday her paper that had latter A written on it. wednesday raised her eyebrows and then her own paper and felt herself about to grin when enid's smirk dropped and probably growled at the sight of A+ in bright red marker.

moment the bell rang she picked up her books as quickly as she could to get away and spend her break in solitude but nooooo. universe just had to show how much it enjoyed playing with her nerves and wednesday wasn't even up from her sit that another male classmate of hers was hovering over her desk with smile. and just like that wednesday's good mood from few minutes ago was ruined.

wednesday could feel everyone's attention on them. she did not have time for this, she didn't even knew his name

"sup addams" wednesday nodded in greetings out of politeness. her parent's didn't raise an insolent daughter. his smile grew even more

"so i was thinking, there's a new cafe opening up nearby and i heard everything's in like a goth kinda easthetic, totally your style  and i really wanted to check it out"

wednesday didn't answer and the air around got uncomfortable and awkward until the boy broke it again in nervouse voice "w-what i mean is, would you like to check it out with me? sometime? it's on me"

wednesday was annoyed but the boy seemed harmless and nice enough that if she wasn't wednesday addams she might have even considered it. too bad.

"... apologies, but i don't have time for such matters nor am i interested in what you're obviously trying to achieve. i'm sure you can find another to keep you company"

the boy's smile slowly dropped into sad frown "yeah uh, that's.. alright, i guess" his eyes lowered to the ground before looking up and smiling softly again "sorry to take your time. and.. if you change your mind, the deal is still up"

"i don't think i will" wednesday sat up from her chair properly "but thank you"

the boy nodded and wednesday quickly left the classroom. she was already in the middle of the hallway when she noticed she was missing her notebook in her hands. closing her eyes and groaning in annoyance, she swiftly turned around and walked back to her history classroom.

when she made it to door she saw good amount of her classmates still lingering in the centre of the room and around the boy she rejected earlier. enid sinclair and her minions were also there but instead at the back of the room, enid seemed to be looking for something in her bag while grumbling to tanaka and the rest were waiting for them

wednesday got closer to the open door and froze after hearing enid's voice

"there is NO WAY she could have gotten higher mark than me i mean- yoko i was literally up all night writing that shit!! i just know MRS wanger hates me and did this on purpose"

"enid you both got A" yoko sighed

"but she got A PLUSE!! and she was rubbing it all over my face too! god i fucking hate her"

one of enid's minions that wednesday recognized as lexie, was  leaning on one of the desks and staring at their classmates in the center and the boy awkwardly laughing and shaking his head as if denying something

"poor travis, she should be grateful someone like him even gave that freak attention"

"huh? what do you mean" enid looked up from her bag. confusion written all over her face

"i mean isn't it obvious?" lexie laughed " shes a dyke !"

wednesday scoffed as she listen to lexie's giggles. and then it got cut off as sharp smack was heard in the classroom and all noises stopped.

enid stood in front of the light brown haired girl with cold crystal eyes, lexie had hers widened and held her red cheek with her hand

"enid what the fuck?" lexie wheezed out

"what? are we giggling at slurs and homophobia now?" enid asked with a raised eyebrow and sharp eyes "this isn't the early two thousend's movie where everybody laughs at your 'shady remark' lexie"

"what? b-but you-"

"apologize" enid cut her off. lexie looked around confused and panicked

"huh? what do you.." lexie's voice died down as her eyes caught wednesday's presence at the door. ah, so enid already knew about her being there

"HA! why should i? weren't you the one bitchi-"

and wednesday heard another, much louder smack. everyone around them was silent and staring. enid' slap, apparently, was enough to make lexie bleed from nose. lexie whined and brought her hands to her nose, lowering her head to the ground. still, not a single soul in the room said anything

enid grabbed her chin with her fingers and lifted her face up. lexie was teary eyed, scared , gripping enid's hand with hers in fear. enid stared and lexie glanced wednesday way, her face already red, both from blood, enid's hands and embarrassment. she apologized quickly and quietly.

wednesday watched this happened before her silently. mad enid was a rare sight not just for wednesday but for everyone, and mad enid defending wednesday was never heard of. fascinating and kind of awkward really

enid released lexie and picked up her bag. only then did wednesday notice her holding her notebook. on her way to door she looked back to lexie

"you don't have to wait for me today after the classes by the way"

enid then continued walking and stopped in front of wednesday. she handed the notebook back to the brunette. wednesday looked at the notebook and then enid's eyes. she spoke "thank you" in small but genuine voice and knew enid understood that it wasn't only about the notebook

enid scoffed, rolled her eyes and walked away with "it's whatever" SO MUCH for wednesday addams being nice???

wednesday watched everyone else in the room leave without a glance at lexie sobbing, like she didn't exist at all and wednesday realized what had happened

enid sinclair had outcasted lexie

for her

the following month was interesting. enid and wednesday hadn't stopped their usual bickering but now instead of pure annoyance and a bit of hatred, enid looked at wednesday with teasing eyes.

was it weird? yes. did it freak wednesday out at first? maybe. did she disliked it now? she isn't gonna answer that

and listen, wednesday's not the rom-com typa gal to help her own rival or anything

but watching enid space out during class, stutter while answering questions, ask twice which page they were on and not even taking notes was strange and surprisingly unpleasant

enid had her forehead on her palm and was leaning on the desk with her elbow, spaced out. again. wednesday looked over at yoko in confusion and lifted her chin up her head towards enid

'what's wrong with her?'

yoko caught wednesday's question with eyes and shook her head

'nothing'

and wednesday could tell it was not the 'everything is alright '- kind of nothing, but more of a 'none of your business' - nothing. well. true, she supposes

good thing about the school was when the classes ended and wednesday got to go home.
and the best thing about going home was locking up in bedroom all day or sneaking out at night

maybe both

night was the only time she got to take in the world without forcingly having to socialize. preferably at four am without anyone in sight. she walked around the parks and streets without a bother and if there were some group of teenagers out or drunk man attempting to go home on the way, none approached her

but she didn't expect finding one enid sinclair at 2:35 am, outside, sitting on street stairs alone and leaning against the railings. the blonde girl was looking down at the bottle in her hands while twirling and playing with it

wednesday was standing and staring, frozen in confusion and surprise at the sight of enid looking so gloomy. the girl was full time sunshine and rainbows and sure wednesday has even seen her mad few times here and there but, this was new.. and it did not fit her at all

wednesday starts walking towards her as enid slowly looks up at her. wednesday doesn't say anything to the blonde girl, grabs a beer bottle from the stairs next enid and sits sideways next to her, spreading her legs out on the stairs and leaning on the opposite railing

the goth opens the glass bottle with her fingers and sees enid raise her eyebrows in shock. feeling a little smug, wednesday smirked and took a sip of beer out of the bottle. she could still feel enid's curious eyes on her as she gazed up at the stars

she heard enid sigh

"....aren't you gonna ask me about it?"

wednesday looked away from the sky and at enid in front of her. staring into those baby blue eyes for a moment, she finally answered

"do you want me to?"

"well.. yesn't" she attempted to joke and the chuckle slowly died down in her throat. she hesitated and then "i do wanna like.. talk about to but. i donno i guess i don't wanna trauma dump anyone at the same time, or be pitied. especially by. you know. you "

"no such emotion exists in me sinclair" wednesday scoffed

"yeah yeah we get it already. emotionless or whatever, because god forbid wednesday addams feels" enid said in a teasing tone while rolling her eyes. she put the bottle down, reached for her pants and took a package of cigarettes out of her back pocket

"feelings make you weak" wednesday stated firmly

enid huffed with a cigarette in between her lips and lit it up with her lighter. taking a deep drag out of it and blowing the smoke out. wednesday raised her brow at the unusual sight because -enid sinclair is smoking- but said nothing

"you're wrong. feelings are what makes me strong, makes me who i am. makes us humans. they make me want to be better, be happy and get angry when needed to. they make me bond with people, make connections that will become important parts of my life. they're what separates us from being dolls or literal robots. and yeah, as much as they suck sometimes, i'd rather feel alive"

the silence stretched. now it was wednesday looking at enid curiously. something about the air felt relaxing. she wasn't used to having conversations with her rival like this.

"so" enid perked up at her voice "do you.. want to talk about it?"

enid looked at her with amusement in her eyes. muttered something similar to "this is crazy" under her breath and faced her body to wednesday.  but instead of spreading her legs out on the stairs, she brought her knees up to her chest and tucked her hands behind them.

puffing on cigarette, she started "okay uh.i'll try not to go in details.  i have like.. stuff. going on at home. my mom and i never had a best relationship and uhh..." enid sighed and stared at her jeans "i had a fight with my boyfriend today"

ah. petropolus. the boy in wednesday's math class that always smells of weed whenever she walks past him. if you asked her, enid could do much better. but an addams was not the one to judge love, so wednesday stayed quiet.

"and we broke up. like broke up broke up"

guess she could judge now

"and then i come home and i have another fight with my mom. she keeps making comments about everything i do like. my clothes, my style, my hair, my relationships and friends and grades. because you don't wanna know what might happen if i get lower than my current grades.

also collage shit. she wants me to study at the one we have in this city so i won't need to move from home. but like, that's literally what i'm trying to do. to get out of this shithole for once and for all and never come back"

enid's eyes got teary and her voice cracked at the last few words "and not only that but she's also trying to choose the course for me. and when i came back and she started talking to me about this bullshit again it was like cherry on fucking top of already hell of a day and i had this massive breakdown and kinda stormed out of there. haven't gone back since"

"it's almost three am" wednesday stated with raised brows

enid groaned and planted her head on her knees "i knowww. i know i just. can't go back there right now"

wednesday nodded and sipped from her bottle. she didn't know how to respond and it felt like enid was waiting for it. enid got embarrassed at the silence and chewed on her lip "sorry.. for the rant"

wednesday watched the blonde girl press her cigarette on the ground and the red glow slowly faded "it's alright. i don't have experience at.. comforting people" the goth girl looked at enid's tear stained eyes, glistening under the moon's light "but. sounds like your mother is a narcissist and is projecting herself into you-"

"- i'd advise therapy"

enid snorted at the words and then threw her head back in laughter  "yeah don't let her hear that"

and if you asked wednesday. she'd deny sitting next to enid sinclair on streets strais, at 3 am. talking for the longest they have. (because who in their right mind talks to their rivals alone in what someone would call a *gag* friendly manner. at night. for hours) for longest wednesday has. about what? what not, honestly.

future careers, free time hobbies, relationships with friends, classmates, her fool of a boyfriend that now wednesday was sure did not deserve enid

(not that she would admit that to her either)

and her families that wednesday has never met but is already starting to hate with her whole soul for what reason she doesn't know.

"but one and only thing i'm thankful of my mother is for giving me manipulative and gaslighting skills. i donno where i would be without them right now" enid teased with her index finger up and wednesday smirked and almost chuckled, almost

but thanks to universe she felt something small and wet drop on her bare skin. and in less than few seconds heavy rain poured over the city and two girls until they were soaked wet and running in opposite directions.

enid stopped running and turned towards wednesday

"I'LL SEE YOU TOMMOROW RIGHT?"

wednesday also turned and felt her lips twitch in amusement

"IT'S FRIDAY"

(though, it was already saturday but it made more sense)

"OH !!  THEN MONDAY?"

"OBVIOUSLY"
