Work Text:

Sometimes I ask myself why you like the moon so much.
When you point at it in the midnight sky.
I let myself fall into your gentle touch.
Your lips on mine make me feel so high.

There is something so soothing about your hand in mine.
The smile that lingers on your lips.
With you, it feels like we’re stuck in time.
Brushing your face with my fingertips.

I sometimes feel like I’m not enough.
To be a burden, to demand too much.
But when you kiss me, your lips warm and rough.
Thinking about this is tough.

You told me ‘The moon understands our greatest fears’.
At first I thought that you have lied.
But then I remember, lying in your arms, crying long overdue tears.
That you always have been right.

With you I feel protected, I feel safe.
The way you embrace my body, stroking my hair.
You told me, there is no reason to be brave.
While I’m sitting in your lap on our rocking chair.

I never knew I needed someone like you.
Someone who understands, someone to hold me.
Someone with whom I can just be.
With you, even in the darkest days, the sky shimmers blue.

When I was a kid, I never heard my dad say ‘I love you’.
He never hugged me, never told me he’s proud of the things I do.
My mum used to tell me that I’m not her son.
But with you, I finally feel like I belong.

Before you, I never thought to be something good.
Your body next to mine makes me feel so at ease.
Coming home to our cottage in the wood.
I have never felt so much at peace.
